The movie starts with Tre coming to the Hamptons to write a story on Summer G for a music magazine. His cousin, Sky, has invited him to stay with her and her husband, Chip. It turns out that Summer G lives just a few houses away from Sky. In conversations, it is revealed that Sky dated Summer G ten years ago while at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Tre will not set up a meeting between Summer G and sky because Sky is married. Tre changes his mind once he finds out that Chip is cheating on Sky with Ladara. We also find out that Craig is dating Nicole. Craig is extremely jealous. Sky and Summer G are still in love. However, Sky wants Summer G to give up everything for her. While at a gathering, Summer G tells Craig he needs to take care of his own business when Craig suspects that Nicole is cheating. Chip works things out with Sky. He figures out that Tre set up the meeting between Sky and Summer G, so he yells at Tre to get out of his house. Tre goes to Summer G's place and calls Sky. She agrees to come to a party at his house the next day. Sky and Chip show up at Summer G's place. Summer G says he is giving up the industry for Sky, but Sky says that it is not going to happen. Chip is purposely aggravating Summer G to get him to threaten him so that the police and housing authorities can throw him out of the neighbor. Chip has been planning this with Greg, the president of the housing authorities, for a long time. Craig then comes to the party with a gun to "take care of his business" which is probably shooting Nicole or the man she has been with, Peter. He may have wanted to shoot Summer G, but there is no evidence to why he would want to shoot him. When Craig shoots the gun, people duck. However, the bullet hits Sky and kills her. At the end of the movie, Summer G is walking along the beach. Tre runs up to him and touches him to get him to turn around and come back.

While dealing with a friend's cold feet on his wedding day, a writer reminisces about his youth with his best friends. On the wedding day of a writer's friend, things aren't looking good when the groom goes missing before the ceremony. During his and his other male friend's effort to retrieve him, that writer named Mike can't help but tell the story of his youth with his friends. In flashbacks, they recall key moments of their friendship, the rites of passage of boys to men. Mike is the principal narrator, arriving in the Wood from North Carolina, nervous and shy. Later, that same night, Joe hears a prowler downstairs and awakens Matthew. They chase the stranger from the house and out into the street where a neighbor shoots him to death. No longer safe in their own home, they decide to drive to Annie's parents some 500 miles away. Before they reach their destination, more trouble comes their way when they stop to siphon gas from an abandoned car and discover the driver in the back seat... He does everything he can to prolong the trial and deliberations to take full advantage of the free lodging and food. When jobless Tommy Collins discovers that sequestered jurors earn free room and board as well as $5-a-day, he gets himself assigned to a jury in a murder trial. Once there, he does everything he can to prolong the trial and deliberations and make the sequestration more comfortable for himself. —Steve Derby <sderby@sdeco.com> Tommy Collins is an out of work male stripper living at home with his mother and her boyfriend...until they decide to go to Vegas to get married and take their mobile home with them and leave him behind. Before this happens he gets a letter summoning him to jury duty, which he initially throws away, but when he finds his only other option is to stay with some rather questionable relatives, he retrieves it and heads to jury duty. He makes it a point to get out of any trial that will be over quickly, then gets assigned to a murder trial which might take a few days. Even being sequestered into a dated hotel room in a historical wing that is being remodeled isn't so bad...until be finds he's rooming with his former high school principal...who likes to sleep to motivational cassettes cranked up full blast. In a desperate move, he manages to get down to the front desk and beg to be moved. Since business is slipping badly at the hotel, the manager makes a deal to use him as a marketing tool, and put him in a luxurious penthouse suite as compensation. All is well for him now. The trial is for a guy who is accused of murdering a number of people at a fast food restaurant, and he looks rather psychotic as well. This makes it seem to be an automatic slam dunk to all of the jurors. However, in fear of having nowhere else to go and of losing his pampered lifestyle, Tommy starts stalling and prolonging the deliberations by continuously going over the evidence. He ends up showing the case in a whole new light, and actually ends up changing the minds of his fellow jurors. Just when he finally won the respect and admiration from them, and they are about to find the defendant not guilty, his secret is found out by not just any juror, but a girl he has been infatuated with since day one.
