Retired U.S. Marine Jim Hanson, who lives by the Arizona-Mexico border, finds himself on a mission to protect a young Mexican boy who is on the run from a drug cartel and get him to his family in Chicago.

The front office of the Atlanta Braves is starting to question his judgment and the one person who might be able to help is also his daughter, Mickey (Amy Adams), an associate at a high-powered Atlanta law firm. Mickey has never been close to her father, who was ill-equipped to be a single parent after the death of his wife. Against her better judgment and over Guss objections, Mickey joins him on his latest scouting trip to North Carolina, jeopardizing her own career to save his. Forced to spend time together for the first time in years, each reveals truths about their past and present that could change their future. The film also stars Justin Timberlake as Johnny Flanagan, a rival scout who has his sights on a career in the announcers boothand and also has eyes for Mickey.

Childhood friends Dave, Sean and Jimmy are forced to confront their past when a seemingly senseless murder reawakens the buried trauma of a crime that occurred 25 years ago.
