When a young pregnant woman named Rosemary "Rosie" Jones (Emilia Fox) boards a train, her enormous trunk starts leaking blood. The trunk is found by the conductor in the luggage compartment, and he promptly reports it to the police. The police are waiting for Rosie at the next station. Questioned by the police about the dead bodies inside, Rosie calmly reveals they are her unfaithful husband and his mistress. Convicted of manslaughter, she is imprisoned in a unit for the criminally insane due to diminished responsibility. Rosie was still pregnant when she entered the prison. Forty-three years later, Walter Goodfellow (Rowan Atkinson), the village vicar of Little Wallop, is very busy writing the perfect sermon for a convention. The town has a population of 57. Walter is completely oblivious to his family's problems. His wife Gloria's (Kristin Scott Thomas) has unfulfilled emotional/sexual needs and starts an affair with her golf instructor Lance (Patrick Swayze). Gloria wants to have sex with Walter, but Walter claims to be too busy with his work at the Parish. His teenage daughter Holly's (Tamsin Egerton) growing sex drive and physical maturity who constantly changes boyfriends. His son Petey (Toby Parkes), a victim of bullying at school. Gloria frequently catches Holly having sex with random guys in their vans, right outside her home. Gloria tries to counsel Holly that she is an intelligent girl and is wasting her life by sleeping around. New housekeeper, Grace Hawkins (Maggie Smith), becomes involved in their lives, learning about their problems. Neighbor Mr. Brown's (James Booth) Jack Russell terrier Clarence, barks non-stop, preventing Gloria from sleeping. Mr. Brown is hard of hearing, so he simply could not care less if Clarence is being a nuisance to others. Petey has bullies and Gloria is having an affair with Lance. Lance promises to take Gloria to Mexico for a vacation in 2 weeks. They are unable to have sex, as there is no place in town where Gloria is not recognized. Lance calls Gloria, and Grace picks the phone, and Lance talks to her without realizing that she isn't Gloria. Grace came to the house with a large and vintage old trunk. The whole family works together to lift the heavy trunk up to Grace's room on the first floor. Meanwhile Walter is nothing but sweet to Grace and makes her feel very welcome in his home. Walter is the object of ridicule for the entire village, since he is incompetent in every sense of the word, including at the game of soccer where he participates with the local club. As a goalkeeper, Walter is absolutely horrible and leaks many goals against the opposing team. He is only tolerated due to his position as the vicar of the town. Even Lance approaches Walter and mocks him for the way the village makes fun of him, and yet Walter is only polite to Lance in return. One day, Gloria is spending time with Lance when she picks his phone and finds that he has been in touch with another girl, who Lance has been seeing on the side. Grace sets out to solve the problems in her own way by killing Clarence (the dog) as well as Mr. Brown (when Brown sees Grace trying to bury Clarence's body during a stormy night and Grance notices this), sabotaging the brakes on the bullies' bicycles which injures one of them and killing Lance with a flat iron outside the house for videotaping Holly undressing one night. Grace puts Holly on the path to recovery by getting her interested in cooking. As Walter prepares the sermon for the conference, Grace suggests adding humor. Like the joke about how God visited Earth 2000 years ago, met a nice Hebrew girl and they are still talking about it. Also, seeing he has let his relationship slide due to his devotion to God, she shows him he can love his wife and God by looking at the erotic references in the Song of Solomon. As the problems in the household seem to gradually clear, Walter leaves for his convention. Gloria and Holly see Grace's photo on the news, showing her release and previous offenses, and they begin to realize what she's done. They find Lance's phone in Grace's large trunk in her room. She also shows the girls the video that Lance had been shooting of Holly secretly while she was undressing in her room. She's Gloria's long-lost mother Rosie Jones, who's come to meet her. After briefly processing the flood of information, Gloria asserts that when having a problem with someone, one cannot just kill them. Grace mentions this is the point she and her doctors could never agree on. Despite their disagreements, Gloria tries to help Grace with Lance's body but cannot handle it. Over a cup of tea, the three women decide not to tell Walter or Petey any of what has happened. Nagging congregant Mrs. Parker (Liz Smith) visits to discuss the problem of the "church flower arranging committee". Grace, erroneously believing Mrs. Parker is about to turn them in for her crimes, attempts to hit her with a frying pan but Gloria stops her. Mrs. Parker, shocked, has a heart attack and dies. Walter returns from the convention just then and sees Mrs. Parker's body, but not realizing she is dead. Soon after, Grace leaves the family when order is seemingly restored among them. Walter then talks to Bob (Patrick Monckton) and Ted (Rowley Irlam), the waterworks employees, who have been working quietly in the background on the vicarage's pond during recent events. They advise the pond has blue green algae in it which means there is the possibility of the pond poisoning people as the pond is connected to the local area's water table, meaning the pond needs to be drained. Remembering Grace's victims' bodies are in the pond, Gloria, with a strained smile, offers them some tea. The film ends with an underwater shot depicting the bodies that had been placed in the pond, including the recently added Bob and Ted (implying that Gloria was the one who killed Bob and Ted and put their bodies inside the pond).

After Mystery, Inc. solves the mystery of the Luna Ghost at a toy factory, long-brewing friction between Fred, (Freddie Prinze Jr.) a self-obsessed glory hog; Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), who has become sick of being the one who always gets captured and has to act to be the damsel in distress; and Velma (Linda Cardellini), from whom Fred regularly steals credit for her plans. Even in case of the Luna ghost, Velma laid out a careful plan, but the gang simply lacked the discipline to follow it, and in the end the ghost was only captured due to sheer luck on part of Scooby and Shaggy and their crazy antics. Fred reveals that Luna was never a ghost, but was in fact Old man Smithers, who was infatuated with Daphne. This causes the gang to argue and subsequently disband, abandoning a dismayed Scooby and Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) and leaving them to care for the gang's van, the Mystery Machine. Two years later, they are all invited to solve a mystery on a horror-themed tropical resort named "Spooky Island" at the behest of owner Emile Mondavarious (Rowan Atkinson), who believes the visiting tourists have fallen under a demonic curse. The island is visiting by thousands of vacation hungry teenagers every year. When they arrive, they are chaotic and undisciplined, but when they depart, they are all prim and proper and not like teenagers at all. While Shaggy and Scooby hope this will bring the gang back together, Velma, Fred and Daphne are all intent on solving the mystery on their own. Fred has been on the talk tour with his new book. Velma has been working for NASA developing hydro powered missile defense systems. Daphne is a black belt now and has transformed her body into a dangerous weapon. Velma attends a ritualistic performance given by actor N'Goo Tuana (Steven Grieves) and his henchman, famous Luchador Zarkos (Sam Greco). N'Goo claims ancient demons once ruled the island but have been plotting revenge ever since they were displaced by the resort 10 years ago. Meanwhile, Shaggy falls for a girl named Mary Jane (Isla Fisher) who is allergic to dogs, distancing himself from Scooby in the process. Mary has a very distinctive sneeze when she comes near Scooby. Scooby is lured into the forest by a stranger with a promise of hamburgers, where he is attacked by a demon. But Scooby manages to escape by defeating the demon. The gang are all led separately to the resort's haunted house ride. After some slight arguments between Fred, Daphne, and Velma, they all decide to get along for the time being in order to split up and search for clues. Hidden demons inside the haunted house activate the rides, and try to kill the gang, but the gang manages to survive. Fred accidentally finds the control room when he falls through a glass window and turns off the rides. Fred and Velma discover a film that educates inhuman creatures about human culture, while Daphne discovers a pyramid-shaped artifact called the "Daemon Ritus". Velma concludes that the haunted house is a brainwashing facility for a secret cult. Later, at the resort's hotel, Fred, Velma and Mondavarious are kidnapped and later possessed by the island's demons. Mary Jane calls the Coast Guard for help, but the officers of the Coast Guard are also "possessed" humans and ignore the call from Mary. Shaggy, Mary and Daphne encounter the possessed Fred, who have no recollection of demons or being kidnapped. Fred and the demons attack the remaining gang. Scooby and Shaggy escape on Quad bikes, and encounter Mary along the way, whom Shaggy picks up. Scooby finds out that Mary is a demon when she is riding the bike behind Shaggy. The next day, after trying and failing to tell Shaggy that Mary Jane is secretly a demon in disguise, the two have a falling-out that results in Scooby-Doo going missing as well; Zarkos steals back the Daemon Ritus from Daphne, who is also captured and possessed. Shaggy goes in search of his friends underground and finds a vat of protoplasm containing the souls of all those possessed. He finds and frees the souls of Daphne, Fred and Velma. The souls return to their bodies, where the demons are thrown out of the body. They then discover that sunlight destroys the demons. Velma concludes that the demons require the human bodies to survive in sunlight. A voodoo priest (Miguel A. Nunez Jr.) who lives on the island informs the gang the demons are to perform their "Darpokalypse" Ritual, which will see them rule the world for ten thousand years if a pure soul is sacrificed in the Daemon Ritus. The gang realizes that the pure soul is Scooby-Doo, whom Mondavarious brought to Spooky Island for this true reason. Finally realizing their mistake, Fred, Daphne, and Velma decide to put aside their differences for good and work together with Shaggy to save Scooby and the world. The gang infiltrate the ritual, where Mondavarious is foiled in sacrificing Scooby's soul by Shaggy. Mondavarious is then revealed to be a robot controlled by Scooby's estranged nephew Scrappy-Doo (Scott Innes), whom the gang abandoned long ago after his increasingly power-hungry and ego-maniacal nature got out of control. Absorbing the tourists' souls, Scrappy transforms into a huge monster and tries to kill the gang. Daphne knocks Zarkos into the vat, tipping it over and returning most of the other souls to their bodies, releasing the demons who are then promptly killed by Daphne reflecting sunlight through a skull-shaped disco ball. Shaggy frees the rest of the souls, reversing Scrappy's transformation in the process and finds the real Mondavarious imprisoned, having been captured by Scrappy so he could pose as his double. Scrappy and his henchmen are all arrested and Mystery, Inc. reunites.

Vacationing at a hotel with his grandmother, a young boy finds that a coven of witches is also staying there and are planning to rid Britain of children by turning them into mice.

In an unidentified tropical region, James Bond (Sean Connery), on assignment, is infiltrating an enemy compound. He distracts, subdues and kills several guards until he reaches the compound's primary building. After eliminating several more guards, he enters an adjacent bedroom where he finds a kidnapped woman, bound to a bed. As he frees her arms, she grabs a hidden knife and stabs him in the ribs. At MI6 headquarters, Bond's boss, M (Edward Fox) and a tactician review Bond's performance on video; the mission was a fake assignment designed to test Bond's effectiveness. Though his total mission time was acceptable, Bond is heavily criticized for being killed, a result of him missing details in the mission's "plot." Bond points out that he has been a willing participant in M's "war games" and that he was only previously wounded in one of them. M points out that the result of that training exercise was Bond losing both of his legs, thereby becoming useless as an active agent. M orders Bond to Shrubland's, a rehabilitation club outside of London. "Q" (Alec McCowen) Algy (Algernon), Double-0 section Quartermaster who issues specialized equipment to Bond. Miss Moneypenny (Pamela Salem), M's secretary. At a bank in France, a woman, Fatima Blush (Barbara Carrera) (#12), arrives and demands access to a secret room housed within the bank where her parent criminal organization, SPECTRE, holds a top-secret meeting. Present is SPECTRE's leader, Blofeld (Max Von Sydow). He announces a new plan for the group's latest attempt at extortion called "The Tears of Allah", so-named for a jade pendant that the mission's creator, Maximillian Largo (Klaus Maria Brandauer) (#1), gives to his lover, Domino Petachi (Kim Basinger). With the aid of Blush, Largo will steal two nuclear cruise missiles. The theft will be performed in part by an American Air Force Captain, Jack Petachi (Gavan O'Herlihy), Domino's brother, whose right eye is being altered surgically to represent that of the United States President. Blush's role will be as Capt. Petachi's caretaker following the surgery, however, SPECTRE has also insured his compliance by addicting him to heroin. At Shrubland's, Bond is required to adhere to a strict regimen of controlled diet and exercise. However, it does not prevent him from sneaking in a small cache of rich food, which he uses while he seduces his nurse. After the two have had sex in Bond's room, Bond notices a commotion outside his window and across the courtyard; a woman is arguing with a man whom she then beats severely. The two are Petachi and Blush. Bond sneaks over to the man's window and observes him using a strange decoding machine. The window shade suddenly flies open and Petachi sees Bond. Blush searches the nearby grounds for Bond using night-vision glasses and spots him easily. The next day Bond is working out in the club's weight room when he is attacked by a large thug, Lippe (Pat Roach). Their battle spills into several rooms of the club, causing much destruction. Lippe finally corners Bond in a small lab and Bond throws the contents of a nearby beaker in the man's face, causing him to scream horribly and back into a set of shelves, impaling himself on dozens of pieces of glassware. The man falls dead and Bond looks at the beaker's label; it reads "James Bond - urine specimen". Bond later reports to M who chastises him harshly for creating an enormous amount of damage to the club. At an American-run air force base in Britain, Jack Petachi steals into a sealed control room and uses his fake eye and decoding machine to successfully switch two "dummy" warheads for live nuclear ones on a test flight. The warheads are installed into two cruise missiles which are loaded on a plane for a test mission. Shortly after leaving the base, Petachi is killed by Blush, who causes a car crash and destroys him with an explosive device. The warheads are launched from a British stealth bomber and speed toward their intended targets. As they pass by Max Largo's yacht, the Flying Saucer ("Disco Volante" in Thunderball), one of Largo's operatives (Dr. Kovacs (Milow Kirek), a nuclear physicist working for SPECTRE) activates a jamming device which forces the missiles to splash down. They are taken aboard and later hidden in an underwater cave. A broadcast from SPECTRE informs NATO that the missiles will likely have differing targets. SPECTRE naturally demands an exorbitant amount of money as ransom. Bond speaks with M and decides to check a lead; Petachi was logged leaving the base right before he was killed. Bond has discovered that Petachi's sister, Domino, is involved with Largo himself and tracks them both to Nassau in the Bahamas. He is met there by the bumbling Nigel Smalls (Rowan Atkinson), his MI6 contact. Smalls informs Bond that Largo possesses no criminal record and is quite a philanthropist. Bond is met at a harbor-side bar by Fatima Blush, who persuades Bond to join her on a deep-sea diving expedition. The two have sex on the way to their dive spot and explore the wreck of a sunken ship. Blush discretely places a small tracking device on Bond's scuba tank that attracts a tiger shark. Bond traps it on the wreck, only to find another tiger has taken its place. Bond finds the tracking device and detaches it, however, his oxygen line is cut. He swims to the surface and finds a woman he'd befriended at the Nassau harbor. When Fatima sees him and the woman at the dock later on, she is spurned and plants an explosive charge under Bond's bed. She activates it only to find she'd gotten the wrong room; Bond had gone back to the fishing woman's room instead. Bond checks in with Smalls, who tells Bond that Largo has set sail for the south of France on the Flying Saucer. Bond travels there and meets his MI6 contact, Nicole, and Felix Leiter (Bernie Casey), his CIA contact. While Bond observes the Flying Saucer in the bay below their villa, he sees a beautiful blond woman dancing on the deck; Domino Petachi. Bond goes to the same spa as Domino and poses as a masseur to find out information about Largo. Domino tells him that Largo is hosting a large charity event for orphaned children. Bond goes there and gains entry by subduing a security guard. He meets Domino and Largo; the millionaire challenges Bond to a video game called Domination. The two battle each other for the monetary values attached to countries of the world. The game, however, is rigged to electrically shock the hands of the loser in each round. In the final round, Bond, having challenged Largo to a match for the entire dollar amount of the remainder of the world, wins and forces Largo to let go of his hand controls; when Largo shows no obvious physical pain, Bond concludes that Largo is psychotic. Largo is about to pay Bond his winnings when Bond offers to waive them in exchange for a single dance with Domino. Largo orders a tango and during the dance, Bond tells Domino that Jack is dead and that her lover is the chief suspect. Largo suddenly ends the dance and tells Domino that her brother will again be delayed in meeting them. Bond returns to the villa to find Nicole murdered and hears the killer leaving the house. The killer is Fatima, who drives off. Bond mounts a turbo motorcycle and pursues her in a furious chase, using the cycle's defenses to evade the henchmen who chase him in cars. He chases her into a harbor-side warehouse, where she knocks him from his cycle. At gunpoint, she forces him to write a statement saying that Fatima was the greatest sexual partner he's ever encountered and threatens to shoot him in the crotch if he doesn't. Bond tries shooting her with an explosive charge from his pen but the charge fails to detonate immediately. As Fatima aims her own gun, the charge goes off, killing her. Felix Leiter steps out from a hiding place and helps Bond escape the French police. Before the Flying Saucer sets sail, Bond and Leiter scuba dive to it's keel, finding that it's designed to open, which it does. Bond is quickly captured and is treated quite pleasantly as a guest by the genial Largo. Bond finds Domino in the yacht's dancing studio and deliberately kisses her passionately, knowing Largo is watching through a one-way mirror in his private control room. Largo rushes into the studio and begins smashing the mirrors and stereo with a fire ax. Bond gains entry to Largo's control room and radios his contacts that the Flying Saucer is headed for North Africa. After arriving in North Africa, Largo retrieves the hidden nuclear warheads and imprisons Bond in an ancient fortress. He explains to Bond that the two nukes have different targets; one will be planted in Washington DC, but he refuses to reveal the other target specifically, which will be somewhere in the oil fields of the Middle East. He also gives Domino to a man who intends to auction her off to a group of local Arab men. Bond waits until Largo leaves and escapes from his shackles. He steals a horse from a guard and rescues Domino, however, the two are forced to jump from a rampart into the sea to escape. They are rescued by Leiter, who has come in an America submarine. Bond conveys that the first bomb is in DC, which is then found and diffused.. The submarine follows the Flying Saucer, finding her anchored off a shallow coastline. Bond, Leiter and the sub's captain try to figure out where Largo has hidden the 2nd bomb. The location is revealed when Bond notices that the map of the general area matches the design on Domino's pendant (the pendant is called the "Tears of Allah" and was gifted by Largo to Domino). Bond and Leiter, along with a commando team, infiltrate Largo's lair (an underwater cave, designed by the ancient Persians, with an actual well called the "Tears of Allah") and battle briefly with his men but are unable to stop him from moving the bomb to his yacht. Bond and Leiter regroup with the sub's crew and pursue the Flying Saucer. Bond is dropped from a helicopter into the crevasse where Largo intends to plant the warhead. He fights with Largo, pinning him to the crevasse wall with a submersible vehicle. Largo aims a harpoon gun at Bond but is killed himself by Domino, who uses a harpoon gun of her own. She and Bond return to the surface. While on holiday with Domino, Bond surprises a man who had attempted to sneak up on him. The man is Nigel Smalls who informs Bond that M wants him to return to active service. Bond refuses, saying "never again" - a reference to actor Sean Connery's quitting the role of James Bond after his final film, Diamonds are Forever.
