Read more →Rajbir "Radhe" Mohan (Salman Khan) is a jobless rowdy, surrounded by a rough circle including Kanak (Darshan Kumar), Aslam (Sarfaraz Khan) and Chander (Gopal Dutt). He lives with his brother Ajay (Sachin Khedekar), his sister-in-law (Savita Prabhune), and their child. Radhe's brother is a decent, family man. Radhe used to study at the local City college, but still controls the entire student politics by ensuring that his candidates win in the student body elections. Radhe is a violent man, but often performs apparently good deeds, such as beating up sexual harassers. Radhe is liked by the studious types in college as he keeps the criminal elements out of student politics and provides a safe environment within college premises. Ajay does not like how Radhe resorts to violence on behalf of other students at the college. Ajay wants Radhe to find a job and move on with his life. Nirjara is a new student at the college who is attending classes from out of town. She comes to college daily by train. She has a single friend Indu (Indu Verma). Radhe meets Nirjara during her ragging session, which he conducts for all newcomers. Nirjara likes peacock feathers. Radhe also supports a mentally unstable beggar (Radhika Chaudhary). A local rival goon insults the beggar by dropping her skirt and embarrassing her publicly. Radhe takes offense at this and beats the rival goon mercilessly. Nirjara sees Radhe's violent side during this fight and is scared. Radhe falls in love with Nirjara Bhardwaj (Bhumika Chawla), a BA student at his former college and the daughter of a poor temple priest (Saurabh Dubey). Radhe comes across Nirjara across many different social situations, and even at her father's temple. Radhe likes her innocent demeanor & helps her a few times (he stops the catcalls during Nirjara's poem recitation at college annual fest, gets her an exam admit card when she loses it), and she seems to like him. One day, Radhe proposes to her and jokingly remarks that he would beat up her father if he doesn't agree to their marriage. Nirjara is too shocked to say much (and doesn't hear pretty much anything else that Radhe says to her including the actual proposal for marriage) and utters "Yes" when Radhe asks her if she was listening to him. Radhe interprets this as her acceptance of the proposal. Later, he and his friends intimidate Nirjara's fiance Rameshwar (Ravi Kishan) who is a junior priest at the temple and a very docile person. Rameshwar was dropping Nirjara to college on his moped when he was spotted by Radhe. Radhe tells Rameshwar that he is going to marry Nirjara and warns him to stay away from her. The next day, Radhe brings Nirjara a gift, but she tells him that she does not love him and calls him a goon and yells at him publicly. A heartbroken Radhe subsequently tries to talk to her, but she refuses to engage in a conversation. Nirjara has a sister Mamta (Indira Krishnan), whose husband Atmaram (Dinesh Kaushik) is demanding Rs 2 Lakhs from her & her dad for her to be with her son Rahul. Since Mamta or her father don't have that kind of money, Mamata is thrown out of the house and is living with Nirjara and her father. Atmaram used to ask for Rs 20-30K, but now his demands have become more and more outrageous. Mamta tries for a bank loan but has no physical assets for a guarantee. Radhe's friends suggest that he give up rowdyism and violence to impress Nirjara. Radhe tries to control his violence whenever he is in front of Nirjara. Aslam admonishes Radhe when he fails to defend his own friend Chander in front of a rival goon, because Nirjara was there. This leads to a fight between Aslam and Radhe and cause a friction in their friendship. Later, Radhe apologizes to Aslam and Chander. One day, Radhe roughs up a brothel owner who has opened up a brothel in the middle of a Brahmin society and is polluting the social atmosphere. Nirjara's elder sister Mamta, who is in need of money, is nearly tricked into prostitution, when she visits the brothel to meet a man who promises her a loan. Radhe, who does not know that she is Nirjara's sister, visits the same brothel to find a brothel customer who was harassing random women outside the brothel. He saves Mamta from being arrested during a police raid. She tells him that her husband Aatmaram has evicted her and is demanding money to give her the custody of their son. The next day, Radhe beats up Aatmaram, forcing him to take her back and to stop harassing her. Rameshwar sees this and tells Nirjara that Radhe is a good, selfless man, who truly loves her. Unaware of this conversation, Radhe abducts Nirjara so that she would listen to him express his feelings for her. Nirjara initially feels intimidated, but ultimately falls in love with him. Subsequently, the brothel owner (Mahendra Verma) and his goons attack Radhe to take revenge on him for trying to shut down their business. Radhe suffers from brain damage during the attack and loses his mental balance. His family admits him to a religious institution for mental patients, as Nirjara and his friends pray for him. At one point, Radhe's mental state returns to normal, but the wardens do not understand this and beat him up. Nirjara visits the institution and sees him in a pitiful condition while he is sleeping. Convinced that Radhe is not going to get well, Radhe's brother asks Nirjara to forget him and marry Rameshwar. On the day of Nirjara's wedding with Rameshwar, Radhe escapes from the institution, and arrives at her home, only to find that she has committed suicide. Radhe then allows himself to be taken back to the institution despite his family and friends trying to persuade him otherwise. The epilogue shows Radhe, now old and still in the institution, tying peacock feathers in Nirjara's memory.

He also looks after two orphans, Gopal (Shahrukh Khan) and Nita (Suman Ranganathan). When he refuses to pay for Laxmi's husband Ramnath (who is an alcoholic and a gambler) who must be operated, she leaves the house with her children. Ramnath dies. Laxmi spots and takes in an orphaned boy Suraj. Her daughter Radha (Madhuri Dixit) forms a sisterly bond with him, named Suraj (Salman Khan). Suraj, a famous and popular singer is grateful to Radha for contributing to his success by her support. Gopal is now a rich businessman. Mona is Gopal's assistant, who wears skimpy clothes and tries to seduce Gopal. Gopal is ultra conservative in his views and doesn't like her behavior. Laxmi dies in an accident (while she was coming in an auto to meet Dev, who was also on his death bed). Dev survives and Radha and Prashant are taken to live with Gopal and Nita. Gopal (Shahrukh Khan) has been in love with Radha (Madhuri Dixit) ever since they were children. As adults, Gopal proposes to Radha and she accepts. Radha goes to invite Suraj to the wedding and finds out that he had an accident and has lost his voice. When it comes to Suraj, Radha forgets everything, even Gopal. Turns out Suraj was playing a prank and Gopal sees first hand the bond between Suraj and Radha. wedding happens. Radha tells she loves Laxmi and Prashant only. Gopal is hurt as she didn't mention him. Gopal wants to be intimate with Radha, but in the joint family setup he is frequently interrupted, leading to sexual frustration. There are two things Gopal disapproves of, after their marriage: Radha's unemployed younger brother Prashant (Atul Agnihotri) who lives with them, and Suraj (Salman Khan), Radha's childhood friend. He doesn't like that Radha is always on the phone with Suraj (even when they are just about to have sex). Gopal plans to take Radha to Switzerland to be away from the family. But Suraj was headed there for a business meeting and Radha invites him to join them. Gopal changes his destination without telling Suraj to enjoy some peace and quiet. Suraj is quite handsome and a very famous singer. Radha, who is very fond of him, talks to him quite often on the phone. The hardworking Gopal, who loves his wife dearly, wants complete attention from her. When he feels Radha gives undue attention to her friend Suraj, he grows gradually very suspicious (He touches her freely, changes shirts in front of her and she gives Gopal's shirts to him) and believes that Radha and Suraj are secretly seeing each other (they talk on the phone when GOpal leaves for office). Prashant needed some cash to buy a 2nd hand motorbike. Gopal finds cash missing from his wallet and admonishes Prashant for taking it by himself, without permission. Prashant protests, but Gopal is in no mood to listen. Turns out Nita took the money for her college fees. Radha asks Prashant to fix the bathroom light. When he is in there, Nita comes for a bath and Prashant covers his eyes, but says nothing. Nita finds out when the bath is complete and complains to Gopal. Gopal hits Prashant and throws him out of the house. Radha laments her woes to Suraj and asks him to take care of Prashant. Gopal overhears this conversation and feels bad. Radha and Gopal visit Suraj's song recording and Gopal has a dream about Radha dancing with Suraj on his song. Gopal throws Radha out of the house after his jealousy completely overwhelms him. Radha-- though she deeply loves her husband-- has never fully understood the turmoil he is going through. On Radha's Bday, Suraj hosts a party and invites Gopal to it. Gopal is outraged. She receives a notice of divorce from him and is devastated. Prashant and Suraj want to talk to Gopal, but Radha forbids it. Finally, Suraj arranges to meet Gopal, who arrives with a loaded gun. Suraj is taken aback upon finding that his platonic relationship with his best friend Radha has caused Gopal such misunderstanding. They argue and Gopal finally leaves. Suraj talks to Radha, but she thinks it is entirely her fault. If she had understood that her husband disapproved of her close relationship to her friend, she would have never seen Suraj again. Suraj leaves Radha and promises to never see her again. He talks to his blind girlfriend Suman (Aishwarya Rai, in a cameo) about what has happened. Suman finally talks reason into Gopal. Once he realizes his misapprehensions and the purity of Radha's heart, he leaves to Suraj's house to take his wife back home. At the moment Radha tries to commit suicide through sleeping pills, Gopal arrives and stops her just in time. They make up and visit Suraj on the set of his latest stage show. Gopal apologizes to Suraj, and everything ends on a happy note.

Raj's parents are Ranjit Kumar Malhotra (Dalip Tahil) and Asha (Farida Jalal). Pappu Bhai (Johnny Lever) is the manager of Kailashnath's estate. Pappu has the habit of blinking involuntarily. Dr Balraj Chopra (Prem Chopra) is the family physician. Raj and Priya meet at a wedding, where Raj gets the impression that Priya has a child. In reality the child belonged to Priya's sister-in-law (Sheela Sharma). Kailashnath dearly wants Raj to get married. Priya's sister-in-law reaches out to Kailashnath for a meeting between the families. After a misunderstanding, where Raj understands Priya's sister-in-law to be his prospective bride, all doubts are cleared and the marriage is set. They get married and soon Priya gets pregnant. Soon after, Priya trips, miscarries, and becomes permanently infertile. On the doctor's advice, the couple conceal this fact from their family. Kailash has had 2 heart attacks already and he would not be able to take the strain of another attack. Priya knows how much a child means to the family. Raj says that they will adopt a child while they are abroad, but Priya says that an adopted kid will never look anything like Raj. Priya wants Raj to marry again, but he refuses. Priya convinces Raj to have a child with another woman. They decide to secretly look for a surrogate mother to bear Raj's child. No normal girl would agree to Raj's inquires on the matter. Raj forms a business partnership with Ajay Sharma (Adi Irani), who will market all of Raj's products in Europe. Raj meets Madhubala aka Madhu (Preity Zinta), a prostitute whom he brings to a hotel room. He discusses his situation with Madhu, who agrees to have Raj's baby, for the Rs 10 Lakh compensation offered by Raj. Raj lodges Madhu in a 5-star hotel. But Madhu is very raw and loud. She is rejected by the entire elite ecosystem. Ajay sees Raj with Priya and understands that he has hired a prostitute. After some much-needed grooming (He makes Madhu give up smoking and changes her entire wardrobe. He teaches her how to use cutlery, and gives her a makeover), Madhu meets Priya--who will be left unaware that Madhu was a prostitute--and the three depart for Switzerland together to carry out their plan. Priya stays in the guest room and asks Raj to sleep with Madhu. But Raj sleeps on the couch. One night, in a heavy snowstorm, Priya makes sure that she gets in a church, giving the entire night to Raj and Madhu alone in the house. Raj finally has sex with Madhu. Soon Madhu is pregnant with Raj's child, and he happily tells his family that Priya is expecting. Ajay is in Switzerland as part of the business deal with Raj. Ajay starts sexually harassing Madhu until she's ready to leave, upset at the thought that Raj told his friend that she is a prostitute (he didn't). Although Priya finds out about Madhu's past, she still believes that Madhu should carry their child, and she begs her to stay. Finally, the partner assaults Madhu while (he thinks) she's home alone, but Raj returns in time to save her. Overwhelmed by Raj's kindness, Madhu falls in love with him. Raj's family suddenly arrives in Switzerland. While Priya reaches for pregnancy-simulating pillows, the family meet the heavily pregnant Madhu and Raj tells them that she's a friend who's staying with him and Priya while her husband is business-traveling. The whole family takes the same care of Madhu, as they do for Priya. Madhu is emotional at being treated as a part of such a loving and caring family. Raj's grandfather Kailashnath Malhotra (Amrish Puri) arranges a religious ceremony and tells Raj and Priya that they are going back to India; this also includes Madhu. The ceremony is very important, so Priya sends Madhu dressed as herself and her face fully covered. The emotion at the ceremony is too much for Madhu and she becomes conflicted about giving up her child. Priya finds Madhu's room empty and the money dumped on the bed, and pursues her to the train station, only to slap Madhu when she confesses that she loves Raj. By the time Raj gets there, Madhu has gone into premature labor. The doctor announces that only one--Madhu or her child--can be saved, and Priya asks him to save Madhu. However, both mother and baby survive and seem likely to thrive. Madhu gives the baby to Priya, who quickly settles into a hospital bed with "her" baby. The doctor tells the family that Madhu's child was stillborn. When Madhu is ready to leave, she promises Raj that she won't go back to prostitution. When he takes her to the airport, he realizes that she loved him and kisses her forehead. Madhu leaves happily, ready, and able to start fresh, as Raj and Priya start their own new lives as thankful and proud parents.

When Raj grows up, he comes to Mumbai as a professional singer trying to make his way in the big city. Raj believes that Mumbai is the city where he will meet the girl of his dreams and make good in his singing career. Raj stays with his friend Abdul (Neeraj Vora). Abdul says that Mumbai is a city of pretenses and asks Raj to get a bike. Raj buys a bike on EMI by giving postdated checks, even though he has no money in the bank. Abdul introduces Raj to a music producer Mishra (Asrani). Raj sings a song for Mishra, and he is super impressed. Mishra wants Raj to record his songs in a cassette, which will cost Rs 2 Lakhs. Abdul goes to his miser uncle (Shakti Kapoor), who runs a roadside cafe. The uncle runs a juice machine in his cafe and eats the remainder of the fruit after the juice is taken out, so that there is no wastage. Raj and Abdul sell a bus stop, by making it like a shop, to the uncle and defraud him of Rs 2 Lakhs, to fund Raj's cassette. Raj uses the money and records the cassette, but when they go back to the music company, they find that Mishra had died. Raj and Abdul meet Mishra's boss and the owner of the gramophone company Mahesh Hirwani (Satish Shah) at Mishra's funeral. But Mahesh throws them out. Soon, Abdul's uncle figures out that he has been defrauded (when the municipality arrives with a bulldozer and removes the bus station where uncle had set up a juice shop) and goes mad. Raj is distraught that his dream is now in tatters. Raj rescues a young woman whose car has an accident and has fallen on the train tracks. Raj risks his own life to pull the woman out of the car, before an oncoming train crushes it. The woman was in wedding attire of a bride. He rushes to the hospital & stays with her. It is assumed by the hospital staff that Raj is the woman's husband. The attending doctor recognizes the woman as Pooja, the daughter of his friend. Pooja Oberoi (Rani Mukerji), the daughter of a wealthy family, survives but falls into a coma. She can listen and understand everything, but she can't speak or move. Her family Bharat Oberoi (Rajeev Verma) Pooja's father, Biji (Kamini Kaushal) and Bharat's trusted employee Govardhan (Paresh Rawal), and son of Pooja's Bua Monty (Vinay Pathak) rushes to the hospital. Finding Raj there, assumes that he is Pooja's husband Romi, with whom she had eloped with to marry and whom they had never met. The family was against Pooja marrying Romi and this was the reason that Pooja was driving away in stress (to run away with Romi) and met with an accident. The family is told that pretend Romi risked his life on the train tracks to save Pooja, and they indebted to him. When Raj is alone with Pooja, he tells her that he is leaving as he is not Romi. Govardhan hears this and now knows the truth about Raju not being Romi but begs Raju to stay for the sake of the family. Since Pooja's father has a higher chance of a heart attack, Raj agrees to lie and says he is Romi. Mahesh also finds that Romi (Real Raju) is the son-in-law of Oberoi and his whole attitude changes towards the pretend Romi. From the beginning pretend Romi talks to Pooja and tells her the truth. He returns her jewels that he found in her bag in the car. Pretend Romi confides in Govardhan that he will reveal the truth once his cassette is recorded by Mahesh. Govardhan agrees as he knows that Raju/pretend Romi is a good man by heart. As the family gets to know the pretend Romi, Pooja's best friend & Govardhan's daughter, Jahnvi (Preity Zinta) starts spending a lot of time with him. Raju rejects all material comforts offered by the family and wants to be his own man. Jahnvi is impressed with pretend Romi with each passing day. They pray at a temple together for Pooja's speedy recovery. Jahnvi finds pretend Romi talking to Pooja and figures out the truth. Her respect for Raj grows as she realizes that Raj is only helping Pooja out of the goodness of his heart. Raj and Jahnvi both fall in love with each other, who is regarded as a second daughter by Pooja's family. Pooja's Dance master (Razak Khan) had seen Raju at Mishra's recording studio and finds him at the Oberoi house, as Romi. But he has short term memory loss and doesn't remember Raju. Raj records his album with Mahesh. Then Pooja revives from her coma and complicates matters by falling for Raj. Raj and Jahnvi continue their affair, while hiding it from the family. Pooja has also identified Raj as Romi, to keep up the charade and keep the family feelings intact. Govardhan knows about Raj and Jahnvi and agrees to keep it a secret. When all is going well, Abdul's uncle arrives and accuses Raju of cheating the entire family. But Pooja stands up for Raju and says that as Romi, he could have done incalculable damage to her and the family but did nothing of the sort. He is a good guy. The family accepts Raju. In a conversation, Pooja and Jahnvi both reveal that they both love Raj using signs (Hand up) but Jahnvi realizes that Pooja loves Raj resulting in her putting her hand down. Raj and Jahnvi put their relationship to an end. On the day of their engagement, Jahnvi unknowingly takes Pooja's cell phone (Her and Pooja's cellphone look the same). Knowing that Raj will never marry Pooja if she's there, she decides to leave. When Jahnvi cell's phone rings, Pooja picks it up and it ends up being Abdul who pleads Jahnvi to break this wedding and come back to Raj. Pooja then reveals to everyone about Raj and Jahnvi and Raj and Jahnvi are once reunited. Pooja chooses Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan). Rahul comes to marry Pooja.

It is announced that a young man named Sameer Rosselline (Salman Khan) will be arriving to stay with the Darbar family (Including the Grandmother (Zohra Sehgal), mother Amritaa (Smita Jaykar), brother Tarun (Vinay Pathak), brother Bhairaon (Kenny Desai) (his wife Pushpa), youngest brother Nilesh, sister Shilpa (Dimple Inamdar). Mahaveer's sister Kamna (Rekha Rao)), as he wants to grasp the intricacies of Indian classical music under the guidance of the Pundit. He is accommodated in Nandini's room, causing her to take a dislike to Sameer. Sameer speaks to his dead father via sounds of thunder in the atmosphere. His father warns him against going to this place to learn music. Sameer cannot understand why and is determined to learn from Mahaveer. Mahaveer wont take a fee for his teachings. But he reserves the right to ask for a Gurudakshina at any time in the future. Sameer has a jovial nature and befriends everyone in the house with his antics, except Nandini. At first the two tease and prank one another (Nandini teaches Sameer a prank Namaskar to make a fool out of him in front of Mahaveer. Sameer farts when he thinks he is alone, but Nandini sees this). Sameer tells Nandini that soon her love will take her to Italy (he reads her feet as a form of reading the future). They become friends and start spending even more time together in front of the entire family (in events, games, picnics etc). Nandini teaches Sameer the various Gujrati dance forms and they also play the game of statue. But soon enough they fall deeply in love. The two spend romantic moments during several family events, including weddings and festivals. Nandini's cousin Anu is getting married. Unknown to anyone in the family Anu had a boyfriend, but Anu pushes her away as he waited for too long and now she has been promised to someone else and she cannot go against the honor of her family. Nandini and Sameer flirt a lot during the wedding. Nandini slaps Sameer for frolicking with her publicly during the wedding. Due to this Sameer locks himself up in his room. Vanraj (son of advocate Vikramjeet (Rajeev Varma)) arrives at the wedding and falls in love with Nandini when she performs a dance for all the guests. Vanraj sends a marriage proposal to Nandini and the process is on. Nandini is worried that Sameer is involved in fun and games while Mahaveer and Amritaa are planning her wedding to Vanraj. Kamna finds out about the affair between Sameer and Nandini. Kamna hates Nandini and she is disrespectful towards her. Meanwhile Anu comes back after fighting with her in-laws. Bhairaon and Mahaveer rule that Anu has to go back to her husband's house, no matter what. Nandini stands up for Anu and says that she does not love her husband and should not be forced to return. But Mahaveer is adamant and tells Nandini not to interfere. Nandini and Sameer help Anu run away with her lover, but Kamna sees this. Bhairaon goes berserk and blames Mahaveer for this calamity. Mahaveer blames Bhairaon for not giving the right values to Anu. But Kamna interjects and tells Mahaveer that even Nandini is having an affair, so Mahaveer should not question others. The pair are caught rehearsing their wedding vows by the Pundit and he is enraged since he has already planned Nandini's wedding with Vanraj (Ajay Devgan), who had fallen in love with her during her cousin Anu's (Sheeba Chaddha) wedding. Sameer is banished from the household and the Pundit quits singing since he believes Nandini has brought shame to the family. Sameer is asked never to meet Nandini again (Mahaveer asks for this as his Gurudakshina). Although he eventually leaves for Italy, he writes letters to Nandini asking her to join him, but his letters do not reach her. After a futile suicide attempt (she cuts her wrists and bleeds off into the swimming pool), Nandini reluctantly weds Vanraj. He tries to consummate their marriage on their wedding night, but Nandini is disgusted by his approach and acts coldly towards him. He asks her for an explanation but she chooses to remain silent. Nandini finally receives Sameer's letters (The house servant delivers them to her, when she was already married and in her new house) and Vanraj walks in on her reading them. He is enraged and initially decides to return her to her parents, but soon realizes that since she is in love with another man, the right thing to do would be to unite the pair. Vanraj seeks his parents consent, which they give after disagreeing at first. Nandini and Vanraj arrive in Italy but come up against dead ends searching for Sameer. They almost find Sameer at a cafe, when they see a drawing from him in their guest book. Nandini chases after Sameer but nearly dies in the path of an oncoming tram. Vanraj saves Nandini.. They gradually become friends and start to enjoy each other's company. During their search, they are mobbed and Nandini is shot in the arm. Vanraj carries Nandini to the hospital in his arms and saves her life. Moved by Vanraj's gentleness and affection towards her, Nandini begins to warm up to him. Vanraj has to sell his wedding ring, as he had no money left for Nandini's hospital bills. Eventually, they are able to locate Sameer through his mother Zooni (Helen), and Vanraj dutifully arranges for their meeting on the night of Sameer's debut concert. He then bids goodbye to Nandini and walks away heartbroken. Upon meeting Sameer, she apologizes to him and tells him that she has come to love Vanraj. She reflects on the unwavering love and devotion that Vanraj has showered upon her throughout their relationship, and realizes that Vanraj is her true soul mate. Sameer realizes that she doesn't have that love for him which he saw in her long back. Heartbroken, Sameer lets her go back to Vanraj which she readily accepts and Sameer breaks down after she leaves and his mother consoles him. She runs back to Vanraj and he tells her that he cannot live without her. Vanraj adorns a Mangala Sutra around her neck and they embrace each other.

Pooja is a dedicated wife, but as a result she is engrossed in house duties and has less time for her husband Prem. Prem tries to spend time with Pooja by taking her out for movies or for a dinner, but Pooja says that things were different before marriage and now both of them have responsibilities. One day, Rupali Walia (Sushmita Sen) arrives at Prem's office to give an interview for the role of a model assignment. Rupali worked with her photographer Deepak, who was in love with her, but Rupali tells him that she only considers him to be a good friend. Rupali tells Deepak that she hopes to marry a millionaire with a huge mansion, cars and servants. Prem signs Rupali exclusively for his agency for 3 years. As Prem cannot spend time with Pooja, he keeps running into Rupali everywhere and they end up spending time with each other. Prem and Rupali are attracted to each other and ultimately, they fall in love. Rupali doesn't know that Prem is lying to her and that he has a family. Rupali is much preferable to Prem due to her modern lifestyle and fashionable choices, as compared to Pooja. Prem takes Rupali to Switzerland for a photo shoot, but his mom Sushila (Himani Shivpuri) forces him to take Pooja as well. Prem convinces Pooja not to come due to the expenses involved which he estimates to be Rs 15 Lakhs. In Switzerland Prem meets Lakhan (Anil Kapoor) and Lovely (Tabu). Lakhan is family friends with Prem's mother and knows that if he sees Rupali, he will report it straight to his mother. As luck would have it Lovely befriends Rupali, but Rupali doesn't say that she is dating Prem. From Lovely, Rupali hears about Pooja Bhabhi. Prem explains that he has a dead brother who passed away in a car accident, and a widow Bhabhi and her 2 kids, whom Lovely and Lakhan keep referring in their discussions. Prem says that his mother is very orthodox, and this is why she never allowed his Bhabhi to get married again. As luck would have it, Prem and Lakhan are staying at the same hotel. Lakhan is a doctor, he finds out the truth, when Prem has a back spasm in his room with Rupali and Lakhan is called upon to treat him. When Lovely meets Rupali, she tells him that Prem is married and has 2 kids. When Rupali confronts Prem, Prem claims that he married Pooja under pressure as Pooja is a mentally sick person and effectively Prem has a non-existent marriage. This conversation is recorded on Billu's (Master Varun) camera accidentally (Billu is Lakhan and Lovely's son). Prem returns to India with Rupali and gifts her a mansion very close to his existing place where he lives with his family. Rupali is ecstatic and Prem even gifts her a car. Now Prem alternates between spending with Pooja and with Rupali. Prem tells Pooja that he is going for a long walk, and she makes him take their dog named Tiger along for company. This way, Tiger also sees Rupali's mansion. At home, Pooja watches the video with Lakhan and Lovely and sees this particular section where Prem and Rupali hug each other. Lakhan manages the situation by saying that Prem was harassed by Rupali and Prem was not at all interested in her. Pooja still confronts Prem, but Prem reminds her that it was Pooja who made him cancel her tickets. Pooja is ashamed when Prem says that she is doubting his character. Back at home, On Karva Chauth, a religious ceremony observed by married couples, Pooja discovers Prem at Rupali's house. Prem had gifted Rupali a house very close to his own and Rupali had insisted that Prem spends Karva Chauth with her. Pooja's dog, who had been to Rupali's earlier drags Pooja to her home and the truth is revealed to Pooja. She asks Prem to choose between his mistress and his family. Prem chooses Rupali and moves in with her, leaving his children and mother behind with Pooja. Pooja sends her mother-in-law and children to live with her husband and Rupali. They intentionally trouble Rupali and convince Prem that Rupali keeps them hungry and wants to poison and kill them. When Rupali tries to discipline the kids, it forces Prem to stop her and see her in a negative light. The trio also pretend that Rupali is making them do housework like slaves. Then they pretend as if Rupali has thrown them out of the house. Prem forces Rupali to apologize to his mom and kids. Prem then hits Rupali when his mom tells him that Rupali gave her poison pills for a headache. Prem is not willing to listen to Rupali's side of the story. Pooja, meanwhile, with the help of Prem's friend Lakhan, has a make-over, becoming a modern woman and taking on modeling assignments. She is the 51% stakeholder of Prem's modeling agency. Pooja takes operational control of the agency and cuts off Prem's source of funds that he uses to splurge on Rupali. Pooja also fires Rupali from the agency. Ultimately the relationship between Prem and Rupali breaks down. In the end, Prem realizes that Rupali only came to him since he gave her material things, while his wife stuck with him through thick and thin. Rupali realizes her mistake and gets back together with her ex-boyfriend, Deepak (Saif Ali Khan). This was designed by Pooja and Lakhan who contact Deepak and make him contact Rupali. In a twist, Lakhan befriends Rupali, affectionately calling her his sister. While hugging her, his wife Lovely (Tabu) walks upon them and misunderstands the situation. She leaves the house crying, and drives away in a car, which their son has tampered with and has managed to disable the brakes. Lakhan then chases after her and makes up with her, with Lakhan saying to Lovely that she is his "Biwi no. 1."

Vishal is given Constable Hatella (Johny Lever) to support him. Khan assigns a case to Vishal where a man was caught supplying drugs under the guise of being a courier person. Vishal suspects Khanna to be involved in a drug ring and confronts him at a golf course. Khanna denies all knowledge of the case and says that his courier person was using Khanna's company to run a side business in drugs. Hero stands up to Vishal and defends his boss. Hero is a fun-loving person and teases Vishal with his antics and gags. Hero knows that Vishal is following him and keeping an eye to see if Hero is also into supplying drugs on behalf of Khanna. Hero knows Vishal is looking for evidence against Khanna and is convinced that there is no evidence to be found. Hero tells Vishal that he will never do a task which gets him to lose his self-respect in his own eyes or in the eyes of his Chawl where he lives. But soon Hero learns the truth behind Khanna. Khanna assigns extra deliveries to Hero to help him achieve his dream of impressing Rani. Khanna had asked Hero to deliver a parcel, which gets damaged during an accident on the road. Hero finds that the parcel contained drugs. Hero still believes that someone else is using Khanna and goes to his warehouse to warn him. Meanwhile, Vishal was following Hero and also enters the warehouse. Khanna realizes that Hero had found out everything about his drugs business and believes that Hero can go to the police. In a confrontation at the city docks, Khanna kills Hero (Hero had come to warn Khanna, but when Khanna heard the police sirens, he suspected that Hero had told the police everything) and shoots Vishal in the heart. The police department decides to transplant Hero's heart into Vishal's body. Hero now appears as a ghost and can only be seen by Vishal, since his heart is in Vishal's body. Vishal realizes that Hero is telling the truth, when he is shown Hero's dead body by Hatella and Khan. Hero says that he will only rest in peace after Khanna is killed, thus avenging him. Rani was out of town for a few days. When she returns, her mother informs her of Hero's death and the fact that he was involved in drugs trafficking. Rani refuses to believe that Hero was involved in any illegal activities. Rani realizes that Hero's body is still lying unclaimed in the morgue. Rani goes to the morgue to claim Hero's body and to perform his last rites. Vishal sees Rani for the first time at Hero's cremation. Vishal has a tickling sensation in his heart when he sees Rani, presumably because it is Hero's heart, who used to love Rani. Vishal takes control of a hostage situation at the school where Rani is a teacher. Vishal successfully enters the school, kills the terrorists and rescues all the kids as well as Rani. Rani starts to see Vishal in a positive light. They begin to date. Vishal and Rani begin to fall in love with each other. Hero dislikes this and tries to foil Vishal's plans of getting close to Rani. Hero gets Vishal to dress funny and to perform silly antics which make Rani question whether Vishal is mature enough to be her partner. Rani is livid with Vishal and Vishal tries to explain that someone else has made his life hell but is not able to. But Hero and Vishal start getting closer and work together, becoming good friends after Vishal confronts Khanna's drug company. Hero tells Vishal that Khanna is trying to liquidate his drugs stock and exit the country in haste. Vishal raids Khanna's warehouse and captures a shipment of drugs. Khanna arranges to leave the country, but kidnaps Rani. Vishal and Hero go to save Rani and fight off Khanna's henchmen, but Vishal gets injured. Hero then enters Vishal's body and controls his fighting moves, helping him to beat the thugs. Rani witnesses this and realizes that only Hero would do those kinds of moves. She calls out Hero's name, though Vishal does not know that Hero is inside him. Rani then calls out to warn Vishal that a plane is moving towards him. Vishal and Hero stop the plane, which Khanna is in, and then confront him. As they are talking, Vishal becomes distracted, speaking to Hero, and Khanna takes the opportunity to shoot Vishal. Hero takes Vishal's hand and shoots Khanna with the gun. Khanna finally dies, and as Rani is comforting Vishal, he tells her that Hero is with them, and he loves Rani. Rani then tells Vishal to tell Hero that she loves Vishal. Khanna's ghost rises from his dead body and Hero hits him. Khanna is taken to Hell and Hero is taken to Heaven. Afterwards, Rani and Vishal have gotten married and are spending their wedding night and honeymoon in a house on the water. It is shown that Hero, now an angel, is happily watching over them from Heaven.

This is Pooja (Ashwini Bhave), who belongs to a poor family, consisting of her dad, Ramlal, her mom and a kid brother named Raju (Salman Khan). Thakur sends an emissary to Ramlal, who is delighted to give his daughter to Thakur in marriage, and the wedding is celebrated with due ceremony. Pooja is very fond of Raju and takes him along with her to her husband's house. This is the only "gift" that Pooja's impoverished parents are able to give their daughter at the wedding, and it is also beneficial for the young boy to grow up in a more affluent household. At the Thakur's palatial home, Pooja is greeted by Jyoti (Rambha), Thakur's kid sister. The years pass. Unfortunately, Pooja has been unable to bear children. Raju, now grown up, is intensely attached and loyal to Thakur, his brother-in-law. He and Thakur's sister Jyoti are in love. One day, Thakur meets Vaishali (Shweta Menon), a courtesan who sings and dances for a living. Vaishali has no relatives except one brother, an unscrupulous card-sharp named Gajendra (Mukesh Rishi) who lives off his sister's earnings. Vaishali seduces the Thakur and becomes his mistress. Her brother, posing as a respectable man, demands that Thakur marry Vaishali and make the relationship public. Thakur is reluctant. On the one hand, he possibly hopes that Vaishali will make him a father. On the other hand, he is attached to his dutiful wife and loving brother-in-law. Gajendra and his friends hatch a plot to kill two birds with one stone: to induce Thakur to marry Vaishali, and at the same time, break the strong relationship between Thakur and Raju. The conspirators make a fool of Raju, as a result of which he causes the police to raid Gajendra's house, on the allegation that the house is being used as a brothel. During the police raid, Raju is horrified to find that the 'customer' found in Vaishali's company is none other than his brother-in-law. Thakur is also angered to find that the person who has caused him this infamy and police entanglement is none other than Raju. In order to avoid legal proceedings, Thakur tells the police that he is present in the house in order to discuss the possibility of marrying Vaishali, the reason being that his wife has remained childless. Raju falls at Thakur's feet, begs forgiveness, and pleads with him not to take a second wife. His pleas fall on deaf ears; Thakur duly marries Vaishali and takes her home. Raju tells his parents of what has happened, of how Pooja now has a co-wife. They come to Thakur's mansion and create a scene. Annoyed at the commotion, Thakur tells Pooja to make her choice once and for all: she can either accept Vaishali as her co-wife and remain in his household with the respectability of being the senior wife, or depart with her parents for good. Pooja chooses to remain with her husband and co-wife, for as she says, that is her wifely duty; her husband's house is the only suitable residence for a married woman. Raju, who has lived in Thakur's household for many years, now goes away with his parents. These events cause a great rift between the two families, because of which the two lovers (Raju and Jyoti) are separated. Vaishali is ensconced in the Thakur's mansion, and her brother becomes Thakur's confidant. He now wants to marry Thakur's sister, Jyoti, so that he and his sister Vaishali will totally control the vast wealth of the Thakur family. A naive Thakur is taken in by his new brother-in-law's seeming decency, and it is arranged that Gajendra will marry Jyoti. However, Jyoti bravely refuses to marry anyone except Raju. She is supported by Pooja, who makes the point that it would be wrong and even sinful for Jyoti to marry one man while being in love with another; chasteness of the mind is as important as chasteness of the body. Thakur decides to delay the matter for the time being. Gajendra is aghast at this and makes a plan to abduct Jyoti so that afterward she will have no choice but to marry him. He reveals his plan to his sister and asks her to help him, but Vaishali has undergone a personality change after her marriage. She now wants to be a respectable woman and is extremely grateful to Thakur for having given her the chance to reform. She berates and opposes her brother, and makes it clear that she will inform her husband. Gajendra feels betrayed by his sister and sees that she has gained so much (Thakur's wealth, his social standing and the respectability of wife-hood), whereas he, Gajendra, has, in fact, lost his only source of income, which was the money from his sister's song-and-dance performances. In a fit of rage, he plunges a knife into Vaishali's stomach and kills her. He then makes an effort to frame Thakur for Vaishali's murder. But Pooja is a witness. Police arrests Thakur, but Raju turns himself by taking the blame. Gajendar tries to marry Pooja but Thakur intervenes. Pooja calls for Raju over temple loudspeaker & Raju comes & fucks everyone up. At Thakur's behest, Raju dispatches the villains, rescues Jyoti and protects Thakur's honor, gamely taking a bullet in the shoulder during the Big Fight. He survives to dance another song, and Thakur, now reconciled with his beloved and loyal Raju, gives Jyoti in marriage to him. Pooja testifies to police against Gajendar. Raju wont sleep with Jyothi, so Thakur tells him to (Jo Jeejaji Bolenge Mein Karoonga)

Kajal is an innocent girl and always lived her life on her principles and with values taught by her father to always take stand for truth. Karan (Sunny Deol) is a criminal working for Gajraj Chaudhry (Amrish Puri). The film starts with Gajraj told by his accomplices that one journalist is writing stuff against him, so he orders Karan to kill him. Karan kills that journalist in a market full of people including Kajal and his father standing in the crowd who witnessed the whole merciless tragedy. Kajal's father reports the crime being the eyewitness, to police. When Karan got to know about the report, he enters Kajal's house and starts beating her father. In order to protect her father and stop Karan, she slaps him. For the first time, Karan notices her and gets in eye contact with her which stopped him (as he got stuck with beauty and charm in her eyes). And then Karan goes to Tulsi (Tabu), a prostitute in one brothel where he is not able to forget Kajal's eyes and in frustration leaves the brothel. Karan starts stalking her and when she is stopped by him in a temple. Kajal felt disgraced, faced her fear and without being scared, lashed out on him by criticizing his behavior and thinking that he wants to fulfill his lust for her, after listening to which Karan feels disgusted and leaves the temple. Karen's soft side is depicted where he saved one child, named Timepass, being mistreated by customers at a bar and took that child with him to his place after knowing that he is an orphan and lives on streets and works to survive which shows the reason of his present state, and why he wants to save the child from the horrors of life, and save that child's childhood which Karan had lost. After, Kajal and some other women are on a bus and are being harassed by some goons from which Karan saves them and hands over the goons to the police. After witnessing his courage and goodness in Karan to do the right thing, Kajal becomes infatuated with him and gets interested in him. Kajal becomes friends with Timepass from whom she gets to know Karan more and wants to be friends with him. She approached him through Timepass(child) and meets him regularly and in one meeting she made him realize the true value of friendship which Karan had never known because of his troublesome life. One day at temple Kajal prays for his new beginning by expressing her love and promises that she won't let him be shattered again. Raju (Salman Khan), son of Kajal's father's childhood friend Ramakant Sahaye (Dalip Tahil), is enthusiastic, mischievous and flirtatious towards Kajal, and has come back from America to fulfill the desire of his parents for him to marry Kajal. Kajal does not know about this fact. She gets to know about it when she is told by his father about the marriage plans with Raju. She confessed to her father about her love for Karan and refuses to marry Raju, after listening to this and thinking about her afterlife with a goon, her father suffers a major heart attack. To save her father, being the righteous girl and thinking it is her duty towards her father, she agrees to marry Raju. Karan gets furious with this and goes to Kajal's house to beg for her love but Kajal disclaims her love and backs out and asks him to forget her and never to return. Kajal considers the circumstances that how she was helpless to be with Karan and in saving her father's life, she realizes that she should not dwell in her past and it is best now that she should accept the truth and move on. (Again, this shows her power to sacrifice her wishes to do what is morally right for her and what she is supposed to do). Kajal marries Raju. Karan fails to prevent the marriage and is upset, so he returns to a criminal lifestyle. Kajal promises to her father while bidding adieu that she will fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a wife in true and every sense. Raju and Kajal go to their honeymoon and in front of Raju's late mother's photograph, Raju confessed his passionate love for Kajal for years. With time she falls in love with Raju and they both are very happy with each other. They return to India after the honeymoon. However, she faints after overhearing Raju and his father's argument about their illegal affairs in businesses. Through a Doctor Raju gets to know that Kajal is pregnant but she is unhappy about the fact that their child will take born in an environment full of crimes and violence which she has been against all her life and criticizes his business's activities to which Raju replies that he did not know about the illegal affairs taking place, and promises to give her and their child the right environment and leaves Raju's fathers house. Because of Raju's decision, Gajraj worries about his interests in Raju's father's business thinking, Raju might become a danger to his business, and orders Karan to kill Raju. Karan who is unknown about Raju's reality goes to his house to kill him and there he comes across Kajal and finds out that Raju is the husband of Kajal. Kajal after seeing the old Karan in her house gets scared about his return in her life fearing that Karan is after her happy life now. Instead, Karan is on to the purpose of saving Raju now for Kajal's sake. One day after being rescued by Karan from goons Raju (who is unconscious) is taken to his house and where Kajal apologizes to Karan for her deeds with him which is overheard by Raju. Raju tells both Kajal and Karan about his discovery of their past. Raju very wisely understands and tackles the whole situation and conveys his thoughts about destiny's plays and its tricks in their lives that humans are helpless against destiny, but he believes in love and says love is the essence which connects people and that he respects Kajal and Karan's past and praises Kajal's fulfillment of her 'dharma' towards him and says that he will name their child Karan if it's a boy. Then suddenly Raju, Kajal, and Karan are attacked by Gajraj's goons and in escaping the house under attack Kajal suffers labor pains. Karan notices that and takes Raju and Kajal to a safe place. He reaches the brothel and asks Tulsi to help Kajal deliver the child safely. Goons chase them to the brothel where Karan and Raju indulge in a fight with the goons. At one point where Gajaraj is about to shoot Raju, Karan comes in between and takes the shots. Karan dies at the moment when Kajal delivers her baby. and the film ends with Raju holding their son whom Kajal calls with the name 'Karan'.
