A mad scientist injects his enemies with an acromegaly virus, causing them to become hideously deformed. Dr. Igor Markoff, an overbearing scientist, injects test subjects with an acromegaly serum, a glandular concoction that causes bones in their extremities and parts of the skull to grow out of proportion. Recipients become hideously deformed. After noting that famed concert pianist Anthony Lawrence's daughter Patricia strongly resembles his dead wife, he becomes obsessed with winning her favor. She already has a serious boyfriend, Bob Blake, who is also Lawrence's tour manager. Patricia rejects Markoff's advances. Still unwilling to give up, Markoff manages to injects her father with his acromegaly serum. Anthony's fingers start deforming such that he can no longer play and his face begins to grow distorted. In return for the antidote, Markoff intends to extort a fortune and demand the hand of the musician's pretty daughter. Markoff's long-time female assistant, Maxine, has secretly harbored a love for him for years. She is most distressed when she overhears of his intentions. A young woman is on Death Row for the murder of a man who was blackmailing her family, although she claims she was framed. Her fiance', a doctor who is conducting experiments on reviving the dead, also happens to be the state's executioner, and is assigned to pull the switch when she is strapped into the electric chair. B-Movie actor George Zucco plays both mild-mannered Dr. Lloyd Clayton, who kills his "evil-twin" in self defense (played also by Zucco). Clayton's evil-twin comes back from the dead, exacting revenge of Dr Clayton's family. Dwight Frye (Dracula, Frankenstein) is the revivified Clayton's partner in this dastardly sibling rivalry.

Having perfected a death ray, a former police inspector wages a war with a mysterious villain known as "The Scorpion" who is intent on stealing it.

Though he fought for the North in the Civil War, John is asked by the Governor of Texas to get rid of some troublesome carpetbaggers. He enlists the help of Holden before learning that Holden too is plundering the local folk. Ex-Union officer John Ashley returns to his hometown in Texas and finds law and order being maintained by northerner Benedict Holden's armed troopers. Initially taken in by Holden's smooth talk, Ashley soon discovers Holden is a carpetbagger who, unbeknownst by the governor, is killing and stealing from the locals under cover of state authority.
