Amar Ranawat sits alone on the side of a lake and remembers the 5 years he spent with Lekha. Amar ponders whether it is better to have loved and lost, or never to have loved in the first place. Amar (Himanshu Malik) was rich, stubborn, and serious. He meets Lekha Khorzuvekar (Mallika Sherawat) in a shop. Amar wanted to buy only the bottoms of a pajama set and was arguing with the store, who would only sell the whole set. The salesman argues that if he sells the bottom to Amar, the top would be useless for the shop. The matter is escalated all the way to the owner of the shop, who orders not to sell the bottom alone to Amar. Lekha steps in and offers to buy the top, so Amar can have the bottoms. But then they argue over the design (Lekha wanted colorful checks, while Amar wanted stripes), the color of the night suit, and even how to split the cost as Lekha argues that bottoms are worth more than the top. She even argues that the plain design they selected is costing a full Rs 60 more than the checks design and says that for the poor, Rs 60 is a lot. The shop offers to reduce the price from Rs 440 to Rs 415 and Lekha agrees to pay Rs 200, and Amar has to fork out Rs 215. While Lekha is poor, the daughter of chicken farmer, she is a happy, frank, and straightforward girl. Their tastes don't match (She likes classical music, and he is into Go-Karting) and Lekha is very value conscious, while for Amar, money means nothing. She calls him Sethji. Amar and Lekha study in the same college in Pune. They spend time together and start dating as they are also physically attracted to each other. They finally fall in love. They start kissing regularly (most of their make-out sessions take place by the side of a lake), but Lekha wants to wait till after marriage to get to 2nd and 3rd base. Lekha tries to explain while the society considers a man to be a stud, but a woman having extra-marital sex is considered to be of loose morals. Amar wants to use his passion for Go-Karting to become a professional race car driver, but his father is not at all supportive of Amar's plans. Amar calls his own father "sir", who wants him to do an MBA after college. Lekha and Amar agree to focus on their upcoming exams and decide not to meet other so regularly. After the exams, Amar cannot take the separation and proposes to Lekha after she declares that she is going home for a few months. Amar goes with Lekha to her village. Her father Ulhas (Mahmud Babai) befriends Amar and accepts the marriage. Ulhas celebrates the occasion by sharing a drink with Amar. But Ulhas has to hide the booze in the bathroom as Lekha does not approve of Ulhas's drinking. However, Amar's father Prithviraj (Shivaji Satham) wants him to complete his studies first before getting married. Amar takes Lekha to meet his parents. While Ulhas was warm and inviting, Amar's parents are cold and distanced. They are not impressed that Lekha's father is a chicken farmer with 5000 chickens. Amar breaks contact with his father & Mother Sobha and marries Lekha. Lekha thinks Amar is using her to stand up to his father. But Amar says he only loves Lekha. Amar's father cuts him off from his inheritance. Amar does not want money from his father to complete his MBA, but no bank would give him a loan unless it is co-signed by his father. Lekha decides to give up her singing career to support Amar financially while he completes his MBA. She asks her father for a low-key wedding and to save every penny possible for her future life. Ulhas is supportive. He spends Rs 25,000 on the wedding and gives Rs 1.25 Lakhs to Lekha as a wedding gift. But Ulhas is not happy as he wanted the wedding to be performed with the proper rituals and by completing his obligations to society. When the village comes to know, they all contribute their time and labor to reduce the expense of the wedding. Their friends send them to their honeymoon in Himanchal. Amar is shy, so Lekha buys her own condoms for their first night. The married couple move into their new little home at a Chawl and spend days of happiness and good times. Amar's mother Shobha accepts Lekha as her daughter in law and gives her some jewels. Shobha is also a fan of RD Burman just as Lekha is. Shobha invites Amar and Lekha to Amar's dad 60th Birthday. Lekha convinces Amar to attend his dad's Birthday party, but he flatly refuses. When Lekha insists, this leads to their first fight. Amar is livid with Lekha for contacting his parents and threatens her to remain out of his life with his parents. Finally, Amar completes his education and gets a job, and they move into a new, bigger house. But soon, Lekha starts complaining about their sexless life as Amar gets busy with his job and career. Amar and Lekha decide to have a kid. But they are unable to conceive, and medical reports indicate Lekha has leukemia. The doctor advises Amar not to divulge this to Lekha and to be as normal as possible. Amar informs Ulhas, who is heartbroken. Amar takes a loan of Rs 5 Lakhs from his father to keep Lekha happy in her final days. But Lekha doesn't want to spend money in London or Paris which Amar proposed. They go to Kerala instead. Lekha reveals that she knows the truth. Amar consults a US specialist, who is also unable to help them. He gives some medications to reduce the pain. In the end Lekha wants to be cremated in an electrical furnace, to be environmentally conscious even in her death. She wants Amar to remarry & eventually Lekha dies. Amar's father apologizes to Amar and invites him back home.

When his girlfriend is kidnapped by Kashmiri terrorists, a commando is tasked with kidnapping the Home Minister's daughter in order to secure his lady love's release. A few days later Neha is abducted by a group of terrorists and Jihadis headed by the notorious Juned Afghani who is on a mission to free their leader, Naved Rabhani. Ajay is tasked with kidnapping Anita, the only daughter of India's Home Minister, Bhagwat Saxena, in exchange for the safe return of Neha. Anita is under strict security in New Zealand under Ajay's father's watchful eye. Ajay does manage to successfully carry out this task only to learn that he has been double-crossed.

Arun and Reshma get engaged but their engagement party is torn apart by a bomb blast. Arun survives but Reshma is feared dead. Arun puts his past behind him and travels to Canada to search for Issak Khan. He learns that Issak Khan is being helped by a millionaire Zakaria. He feigns love for Zakaria's daughter Dr. Shaheen to get in touch with Issak Khan. Meanwhile, unknown to Arun, Reshma is safe and sound and being treated by Shaheen. —Soumitra

Sapna (Ameesha Patel) is the only daughter of a wealthy underworld Don, Pratap Dholakia (Kiran Kumar). Due to their numerous enemies, they have kept Sapna confined at home all her life with only her sister-in-law, Nisha (Nishigandha Wad), for company and comfort. Highly sheltered, naive, and lonely, Sapna longs to break free. One night Sapna attends her childhood friend's wedding without her father's permission, and on the drive home is attacked by Pratap's rival gang. Rohit (Hrithik Roshan), a local college student, witnesses the attack and protects Sapna. They immediately fall in love with each other, but before they can introduce themselves she is rescued by Pratap's men. Livid, Pratap forbids Sapna from ever leaving the house again. The next morning, Rohit obtains Sapna's name from a newspaper article about the incident. He and his friends manage to enter her home as a musical band, performing for the Navaratri dance celebrations. Sparks fly between him and Sapna over the nine nights of Navaratri and they start meeting secretly. Although Raman is suspicious, Rohit charms Pratap and earns his trust when Sapna explains that he was the one who had saved her on the night of the gang attack. Rohit gives Sapna the phone number of his hostel's canteen and they start talking. He meets her at the roof of her house, all alone and they proclaim their love for each other. Rohit sneaks Sapna out for excursions around town (Movies, dumb charades) and takes her home to meet his parents, who receive her lovingly. Nisha discovers their relationship, warning Sapna of Pratap's cruelty and what he and Raman would do to Rohit if they found out. In the meantime, Pratap, thinking that Sapna would be safest abroad, arranges for her to marry the son of a wealthy friend who lives in London. He announces their engagement on the last night of Navaratri in front of all guests, shocking both Sapna and Rohit. Sapna ends her relationship with Rohit to protect him from her father and brother. Nisha secretly visits Rohit at his boys' college to explain, begging him to forget Sapna. Undeterred, on the night of Sapna's engagement party, Rohit whisks her away to his hostel, reasoning that it would be the last place Pratap would search for her. With the help of his friends (and, soon, all the boys in the college. Initially the hostel mates are angry that Rohit decided to put all of them in danger. But they all agree to let Sapna stay after hearing her side of the story), Sapna is disguised as a male student and settles in happily, tasting freedom for the first time. Meanwhile, Pratap assumes that Sapna has been abducted by his rival, Kania Pathan (Shahbaz Khan), and Raman executes a violent search for her, mercilessly attacking Kania Pathan's men and territory. When this proves futile, Pratap has his telephone bill checked and notices frequent calls to and from an unfamiliar phone number, which happens to be Rohit's. Raman and his men arrive at Rohit's hostel, intending to retrieve Sapna by force. In defense, a hundred of Rohit's peers arrive carrying sticks and bats, showing solidarity with Rohit and Sapna. Before a fight can ensue, Pratap appears and publicly berates Raman for coming to the hostel without his permission. He earnestly displays fatherly concern, declaring his approval of Rohit and Sapna's relationship and convincing Sapna to return home with him to prepare for her wedding to Rohit. Bursting with joy, Sapna arrives back home and tells Nisha of her father's acceptance. Dismayed, Nisha reveals that Pratap deceived Sapna to avoid creating a scene at the hostel, and that her father's pride is more valuable to him than Sapna's happiness. Heartbroken, Sapna pleads with Pratap, who furiously informs her that she is to fly to London that very night. Under the guise of peace, Pratap summons Rohit to his factory, revealing his true intentions. When Rohit refuses to give up Sapna, Pratap orders Raman and his men to kill Rohit. They brutally beat Rohit and toss him in a gully, thinking that he was dead. Sapna overhears Pratap speaking of Rohit's death and overdoses on pills, intending to kill herself. She leaves a suicide note in her room and, before leaving for the airport, informs her father that he has crushed her so much that she wishes to go to be with her (long deceased) mother. After Sapna leaves, Nisha finds her suicide note and throws it at Pratap, screaming at him for selfishly killing his own daughter. As Raman and his men escort Sapna to the airport, Rohit appears, bloodied and enraged. With renewed strength, he fights them off just as Sapna starts coughing up blood, succumbing to her overdose. He professes his love for her and gets her to a hospital, where she is treated and stabilized. The film concludes with Pratap, emotional and humbled, silently hugging Rohit for saving Sapna's life again and giving the couple his blessing.
