Kings sent out their armies with hundreds of thousands of soldiers. 500 years of bloodshed showed no signs of ending. The Western state of win, 2 boys were about to change the course of history. Orphaned by war, Shin / Xin (Kento Yamazaki) is sold as a slave to a small village, where he befriends Hyou / Piao (Ryo Yoshizawa), another slave. Shin had seen General Ouki marching with his army and found him to be amazing. Growing up, Shin and Hyou train together, dreaming of escaping their low status and eventually becoming great generals. Hyou tells Shin that the only route to escape the slave status is through a sword. Shoubunkun / Chang Wen Jun (Masahiro Takashima) visits their village in search of soldiers to aid the king Eisei / Ying Zheng (Ryo Yoshizawa), but he will only accept Hyou. Sometime later a mortally wounded Hyou appears at Shin's house, warning him that Eisei's brother, Seikyou / Cheng Jiao (Kanata Hongo), has started a power struggle and urging him to go to a point marked on a map he gives him. Shin sets off immediately, not knowing that his village has been set on fire and all the villagers murdered by Seikyou's army. At the meet-up point, Shin finds Eisei, the king of Qin, where they are ambushed by a skilled Shukyou assassin. Shin realizes that Hyou was accepted into the army to serve as Eisei's double due to his bearing a resemblance to the king. Shin kills the assassin after a prolonged struggle. Shin and Eisei watch Shin's village burning and Eisei knows that these are Seikyou's soldiers who are still hunting for him. Shin and Eisei escape through a mountain path with help from Ten / He Liao Diao (Kanna Hashimoto), a mountain tribe child who had accompanied the bandits that had previously ambushed Shin. Ten's motivation is money in exchange for saving the life of a King. Shin is livid with Eisei for treating Hyou's life as if it had no value. Eisei says that he is fighting a war and will use anything to make sure that he wins. Eisei says that he never kept Hyou in the dark and that he knew the risks. General Ouki approaches Seikyou and presents him with Shoubunkun's head. Genral Si Shi (Masaya Kato) interjects that the head is unrecognizable in its deformed state. General Ouki demands Shoubunkun's domain in exchange for his head. Seikyou grants the request. As the three reach the bamboo forest, they are attacked by another assassin. Despite blaming Eisei for Hyou's death, Shin defeats the assassin but is poisoned by one of his darts. The three take refuge at an ancient summer resort to help Shin recuperate, while Shin learns that Hyou had voluntarily sacrificed himself to serve Eisei, and about Eisei's bitter rivalry with Seikyou, his brother. Eisei says that his mother was a dancer, while Seikyou's mother had a royal lineage. Seikyou disapproved of Eisei because of his commoner blood. Eisei's remaining army finally arrive at the summer resort, including Shoubunkun, who was previously assumed to have been killed by General Ouki / General Wang Qi (Takao Osawa). Shoubunkun reveals that his army was ambushed by general Ouki, but at the right moment, Hyou appeared, impersonating Eisei, and marshaled the troops. Hyou then lured General Ouki away, so Shoubunkun and his army could remain intact. The army is outnumbered by Seikyou's army of 80,000 soldiers, while Eisei admits that Lu Buwei, the only person who can outmatch him, is also after the throne. Lu Buwei has an army of 200,000 soldiers which vastly outnumbers Seikyou's 80,000 men. Eisei's chooses to seek out help from the Mountain Tribe, a former ally of the Qin royal family that had been betrayed 400 years ago. As they rise into the mountains, they are captured by the Mountain Tribe and brought forth to the chieftain, Youtanwa / Yang Duan He (Masami Nagasawa). Eisei says that his vision is of a unified China, with no internal borders. Youtanwa orders Shin to be beheaded to test Eisei's loyalty, but Shin's dedication to Eisei's goal and mannerisms impress her, after which she announces that the Mountain Tribe will be affiliated with the Qin royalty again. Eisei's army arrives at the royal palace disguised as part of the Mountain Tribe, under the pretense of helping Seikyou fight against Lu Buwei. Jie Shi (Renji Ishibashi), Seikyou's advisor, allows only 50 people inside, and 10 of them to meet with Seikyou. Just inside the gates, Eisei initiates an attack, while Shin, Ten, and Bi (Shinnosuke Mitsushima) use the underground passageway to reach the throne room and assassinate Seikyou. Shin's group is intercepted by General Saji / Zuo Ci (Tak Sakaguchi), Eisei's former general, who sends Lang Kai (Ami 201) the Executioner after them. Shin kills Lang Kai with the help of the Mountain Tribe, and when they reach Seikyou's room, General Saji defeats Shin's group. Just when it seems General Saji will succeed in killing the exhausted Shin, Shin's memory of Hyou and belief in his own dreams brings him renewed strength and he kills General Saji. Seikyou's council flees, but Ten gouges out Jie Shi's eye with a dart and is stabbed by him before he dies. While Ten is safe thanks to wearing armor, Seikyou uses their distraction to escape. In the courtyard, Seikyou confronts Eisei but is easily defeated. Eisei spares Seikyou but beats him up to punish him for the suffering he caused. General Ouki and his army appear in the courtyard where he asks Eisei what he will do as king and threatens to behead him if he does not provide a satisfactory answer. Eisei vows to unite China under the Warring States period, even using force as a means to ensure that there would be peace in the future. Satisfied with his answer, General Ouki allies with Eisei and orders Seikyou's remaining army to retreat. With the battle won, Shin revels in the glory of making both his and Hyou's dreams come true. Shoubunkun realizes that Ouki kept his army on standby to protect civilians and he took control of Shoubunkun''s estates to keep his family and loyal men safe during the upheaval.

Ichigo Kurosaki (Sota Fukushi) can see ghosts, a talent which lets him meet Rukia Kuchiki (Hana Sugisaki), a Soul Reaper whose mission is to usher the souls of the dead from the World of the Living to the Soul Society while fighting Hollows. Hollows are monstrous lost souls who can harm both ghosts and humans by eating their souls. Rukia purifies those who remained among the living and transformed into Hollows. Ichigo fights bullies who harass the lost ghosts and helps them find their way to heaven. At that time, a Hollow that Rukia was hunting named Fishbone D attacks Ichigo's home after sensing his high spiritual energy. Rukia is wounded in the attempt to protect the Kurosaki family. Rukia says that if she stops fighting Hollows, they will devour all the souls and is forced to transfer her powers into a desperate Ichigo so he can defeat the Hollow as a Soul Reaper. Only Reapers can kill Hollows. Rukia stabs Ichigo in the chest with her Zanpakuto sword and transfers her power into him. Zanpakuto are the soul-cutting swords wielded by Soul Reapers. Post transfer, Ichigo's swords becomes enormous and he easily defeats the Fishbone and protects his family. Yasutora "Chad" Sado (Yu Koyanagi) is Ichigo's classmate and looks out for him against bullies. Isshin Kurosaki (Yosuke Eguchi) is Ichigo's father and supports him when he says that he can see ghosts. Orihime Inoue (Erina Mano) is also Ichigo's classmate and has a crush on him. Rukia explains that Hollows are souls that died with a grudge and now eat other souls. Reapers have 2 duties: Guide the whole souls to the Soul Society and destroy Hollows with Zanpakuto. After discovering Rukia has enrolled in his class the following day, Ichigo learns that she has lost her power, and he must serve as her substitute. Rukia says that she only intended to transfer half her power, but Ichigo's spiritual energy was too high and it took all of her powers. When Rukia recovers, she asks Ichigo for her powers back, but Ichigo is too weak to return his powers to Rukia until he amassed enough Reiyoku energy from defeating Hollows to transfer Rukia's powers back to her. But before that Rukia will need to train Ichigo to fight the Hollows. Rukia visits an Urahara shop where the owner Kisuke Urahara (Seiichi Tanabe) tells Rukia that she violated the reaper code by giving her powers to a human. Ichigo finds himself in a fight beyond imagination as he contends with both a pair of Soul Reapers Renji Abarai (Taichi Saotome) and her brother-in-law Byakuya Kuchiki (Miyavi) (Captain of the soul reapers) sent to retrieve Rukia against her will (as she violated the reaper code) and the monstrous Hollow known as Grand Fisher. First Renji confronts and attacks Ichigo but is driven by arrow attacks from Uryu Ishida (Ryo Yoshizawa), who is a Quincy and Ichigo's classmate. Uryu reveals himself to be of a tribe of spiritually aware humans called Quincies, who were nearly wiped out by the Soul Reapers as they obliterate Hollows rather than purify them. Uryu reveals that Quincy was a tribe hunted down by Hollows, so now he hunts Hollows & Reapers as Reapers hid in his village that led Hollows there. He offers to help Ichigo but wants to kill both Reapers and Hollows. Uryu declares himself an enemy of all Soul Reapers as he challenges Ichigo to a Hollow hunting competition, having deliberately summoned the monsters to Karakura Town. One of the Hollows summoned by Uryu nearly defeats Ichigo, but Renji intervenes in time and kills the Hollow. Renji then beats Ichigo. Byakuya scolds Rukia for having broken the Soul Society's laws by giving Ichigo her powers while giving her an ultimatum: either extract her Reiryoku from Ichigo or return to the Soul Society to be trialed and punished accordingly. As the former choice would result in Ichigo's death since he had not amassed the ideal amount for his survival, Rukia resigns herself for punishment. But Ichigo stops her at the last minute. On New Moon night, Rukia disappears. Ichigo seeks Uryu's help to enter the Soul Society. Ichigo tracks Kisuke, who helps him enter the society. There he makes a deal with Byakuya to kill the Hollow Grand Fisher, if they release Rukia to complete his reaper training and to gain enough Reiryoku for a non-fatal transfer. Ichigo vigorous training for the confrontation catches the interest of his classmates Yasutora Sado and Orihime Inoue. Ichigo learns from Rukia that Grand Fisher started out as the soul of a little girl. He remembers that as a boy he saw the soul of a girl standing in the river, drenching in the rain, while he was walking by with his mother. Ichigo went to help the little girl, only to wake up later to see that his mother Masaki Kurosaki (Masami Nagasawa) was on top of him, dead. He now understands that the little girl was the Grand Fisher, and his mom died, trying to protect him. While visiting Masaki's grave, Karin and Yuzu are attacked by Grand Fisher. The Grand Fisher attacks. Ichigo fights him with great skill & is joined by Uryu. Ichigo is able to free his sisters before taking Grand Fisher on in a highly destructive fight and defeating him with Uryu's support. Together they manage to defeat the Grand Fisher by striking a death blow to its forehead. The two are then ambushed and Uryu is injured by Renji, who with Byakuya decided to renege on their deal. Though Ichigo manages to overpower Renji, Byakuya steps in and defeats Ichigo with overwhelming pace. Rukia intervenes, convincing Byakuya to spare Ichigo as she extracts her Reiryoku while parting ways with him. The next day, due to the Soul Society's influence, everyone in Karakura Town has forgotten Rukia and everyone thinks the damage to the town from the battle with Grand Fisher was caused by a tornado. However, Ichigo sees a note Rukia had left in his book and seemingly regains his memories.
