Siddharth/Sidhu (Abhishek Bachchan) comes to New Delhi to further his studies and stays with his sister Esha (Ayesha Jhulka) from Allahabad. Siddharth is forced to stay with Esha by his parents, but he doesn't like his brother-in-law Rajeev (Mukesh Rishi). It was an arranged marriage and the youngsters in the house didn't like an unimpressive Rajeev as a suitable match for Esha. Rajeev is a simple, bespectacled man and Esha is extremely beautiful. During their first meeting, Rajeev had heard Sidhu complain to his father that Rajeev is not a good match for Esha. Yet, Esha is happy with Rajeev and has never been given the opportunity to complain about anything. When Siddharth gets to Delhi, the unsaid tension continues between him and Rajeev. Rajeev gives his scooter to Siddharth for conveyance. Rajeev does say much to Sidhu as he is concerned that Sidhu will be offended. Sidhu refuses the scooter and says that he will take the bus. Siddharth's spoiled friend Ganesh (Vijay Raaz) trails behind him and arrives in Delhi later, after Ganesh was kicked out of the house by his father Ram Prasad Shastri (Aanjjan Srivastav) for being a total and useless bum. Ram Prasad laments that Ganesh was notorious from kindergarten through to college, and even now could not hold on to a job. Ganesh says that he is not interested in becoming a bookkeeper for Rs 20/day, as the job can be done by a simple calculator. Siddharth, through perceived destiny and chance, runs into Jhanvi (Bhumika Chawla) on a DTC bus. Siddharth falls in love with Jhanvi, who belongs to a conservative Haryanvi family. Sidhu and Jhanvi keep running into each other at different spots in the city, but Jhanvi manages to hide from Sidhu, leaving him confused. Eventually Sidhu figures out the route that Jhanvi takes to her college and waits for her. Jhanvi's elder brother Ganpat (Mahesh Manjrekar) is a head of the family who is very protective of his family, mainly his sister, after the loss of their parents. Ganpat has already cut the hand of a Romeo who dared to follow Jhanvi and gave her a love letter. He is very critical of inter cast marriages and metes out the same treatment to other boys who fall in love with girls of his community. Only Ganpat's uncle (Goga Kapoor) is able to control his limitless rage. Initially, Jhanvi brushes off Siddharth's constant attempts to be with her (in the bus, in the temple, at the bookstore or at the mall) in order to keep him safe from Ganpat. An encounter with the thugs (Ganpat sensed that some boy was harassing Jhanvi at college and send his goons) leads Jhanvi to encourage Siddharth to run. Sidhu instead rises to the challenge and fights off all the thugs when they attack him the next time around. Jhanvi warns Sidhu that he has made an enemy out of her brother Ganpat and tells Sidhu to return to Allahabad. Ganpat issues instructions to kill Siddharth, but he is up for the challenge and inflicts severe injuries on the goons who attack him. Siddharth and Jhanvi keep meeting with each other, hiding and running from Jhanvi's brother and his men, while Siddharth fights off any thugs that follow him and threaten to hurt him or his family. While Ganpat goes to threaten Esha and her husband Rajeev (Mukesh Rishi), Siddharth threatens him back viciously as he was one step ahead of him and planned to retaliate (though falsely) by killing Ganpat's family, excluding Jhanvi. Rajeev eventually sees Siddharth with Jhanvi and understands the entire matter. Ganpat's uncle tells Ganpat that they cannot afford another mistake against Sidhu as then people would stop fearing them. He tells Ganpat to bide his time and strike at the right moment. Jhanvi overhears this conversation and is ecstatic that someone forced his brother to take a step back, as this has never happened before. Till now Ganpat felt that Siddharth was chasing Jhanvi, but one of his men sees them together and Ganpat realizes that Jhanvi also loves Siddharth. Eventually, Ganpat decides to use his thugs to beat up a boy who was giving Siddharth a hard time in school, thus giving the impression to the principal of the school that Siddharth is a thug. Siddharth is suspended in return. Then they hit Esha with a van and frame her husband for him to lose his job all at the same time. Siddharth and Jhanvi agree they should elope and get married before she gets married off. Meanwhile, Ganesh constantly gets himself conned (his suitcase is stolen a few minutes after he arrives in Delhi and Sidhu's address and telephone number were in the suitcase) and goes through various harsh realities about life. In the end, Ganesh loses all his money, his watch, his clothes, and a kidney in his hope to meet his friend Siddharth. One day, Ganesh runs into Sidhu who was in a bus. But the bus drove away while Ganesh was describing his struggles to Sidhu. All his experiences end in the form of making Ganesh accidentally a "Petticoat Baba" (he was drafted into a porn movie without his will and had to escape in a petticoat when the police arrived), a saint who is believed by the people (not by Ganesh) to be living in the Himalayas for 300 years. In the climax, Siddharth hatches a plan to bait Ganpat and his men to the wrong area and marry Jhanvi with her remaining family members (Ganpat's wife (Shweta Menon)) who care for her and Siddharth. Ganpat gets wind of this plan (he sees them at a railway crossing) and tracks them down. The newlyweds now have to run from a mass number of thugs. This leads to a final battle which ends with a one-on-one fight with Siddharth and Ganpat. Siddharth wins and refuses to deal Ganpat the death blow, allowing him to live. Ganpat allows Jhanvi and Siddharth to leave, finally accepting Siddharth as his brother in-law. Siddharth and Jhanvi leave married.

A prank goes horribly wrong when the victim ends up implicated in a murder and has no alibi to prove otherwise. Desperate, he goes on the run to solve the mystery and clear his name. Antara Shelar lives an upper middle-class life with her husband, Pratyush, and a young daughter. She is exasperated with her husband spending more and more time at work, and not with her and their daughter, so she decides to leave him. Alone, Pratyush gets a desperate phone call from his co-worker, Aslam Durrani, to attend at 88 Antop Hill. Upon arrival, he is met with a tall, gorgeous young woman, who goes by the name of Teesta. Anxious to find out Aslam's plight and also of is attraction towards her, they go for a drive, and have a drink at a bar. When they return, she invites him into her apartment, and goes to change her clothes. The next day, Murli Mansukhani, Teesta's neighbor summons the police, who arrive and find Teesta's dead body, slain with a sharp instrument. Then begins the manhunt for the killer, who the watchman has now identified as Pratyush. Pratyush meets with Aslam the next day, Aslam admits to having played a prank on him. But denies ever going to Antop Hill, nor ever knowing anyone by the name of Teesta. The Police conclude that there were only two people in Teesta's apartment that night, and that Teesta was killed by whoever was with her that night. Pratyush finds himself in an impossible position, unable to get an alibi, nor talk to his wife and daughter, he decides to burn all evidence, thus implicating himself all the more, - and then the police find the murder weapon in his house - but Pratyush is nowhere to be found. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)

Thakur Suraj Pratap (Jackie Shroff) sees a young woman performing Pooja at a temple, and instantly falls in love with her. This is Pooja (Ashwini Bhave), who belongs to a poor family, consisting of her dad, Ramlal, her mom and a kid brother named Raju (Salman Khan). Thakur sends an emissary to Ramlal, who is delighted to give his daughter to Thakur in marriage, and the wedding is celebrated with due ceremony. Pooja is very fond of Raju and takes him along with her to her husband's house. This is the only "gift" that Pooja's impoverished parents are able to give their daughter at the wedding, and it is also beneficial for the young boy to grow up in a more affluent household. At the Thakur's palatial home, Pooja is greeted by Jyoti (Rambha), Thakur's kid sister. The years pass. Unfortunately, Pooja has been unable to bear children. Raju, now grown up, is intensely attached and loyal to Thakur, his brother-in-law. He and Thakur's sister Jyoti are in love. One day, Thakur meets Vaishali (Shweta Menon), a courtesan who sings and dances for a living. Vaishali has no relatives except one brother, an unscrupulous card-sharp named Gajendra (Mukesh Rishi) who lives off his sister's earnings. Vaishali seduces the Thakur and becomes his mistress. Her brother, posing as a respectable man, demands that Thakur marry Vaishali and make the relationship public. Thakur is reluctant. On the one hand, he possibly hopes that Vaishali will make him a father. On the other hand, he is attached to his dutiful wife and loving brother-in-law. Gajendra and his friends hatch a plot to kill two birds with one stone: to induce Thakur to marry Vaishali, and at the same time, break the strong relationship between Thakur and Raju. The conspirators make a fool of Raju, as a result of which he causes the police to raid Gajendra's house, on the allegation that the house is being used as a brothel. During the police raid, Raju is horrified to find that the 'customer' found in Vaishali's company is none other than his brother-in-law. Thakur is also angered to find that the person who has caused him this infamy and police entanglement is none other than Raju. In order to avoid legal proceedings, Thakur tells the police that he is present in the house in order to discuss the possibility of marrying Vaishali, the reason being that his wife has remained childless. Raju falls at Thakur's feet, begs forgiveness, and pleads with him not to take a second wife. His pleas fall on deaf ears; Thakur duly marries Vaishali and takes her home. Raju tells his parents of what has happened, of how Pooja now has a co-wife. They come to Thakur's mansion and create a scene. Annoyed at the commotion, Thakur tells Pooja to make her choice once and for all: she can either accept Vaishali as her co-wife and remain in his household with the respectability of being the senior wife, or depart with her parents for good. Pooja chooses to remain with her husband and co-wife, for as she says, that is her wifely duty; her husband's house is the only suitable residence for a married woman. Raju, who has lived in Thakur's household for many years, now goes away with his parents. These events cause a great rift between the two families, because of which the two lovers (Raju and Jyoti) are separated. Vaishali is ensconced in the Thakur's mansion, and her brother becomes Thakur's confidant. He now wants to marry Thakur's sister, Jyoti, so that he and his sister Vaishali will totally control the vast wealth of the Thakur family. A naive Thakur is taken in by his new brother-in-law's seeming decency, and it is arranged that Gajendra will marry Jyoti. However, Jyoti bravely refuses to marry anyone except Raju. She is supported by Pooja, who makes the point that it would be wrong and even sinful for Jyoti to marry one man while being in love with another; chasteness of the mind is as important as chasteness of the body. Thakur decides to delay the matter for the time being. Gajendra is aghast at this and makes a plan to abduct Jyoti so that afterward she will have no choice but to marry him. He reveals his plan to his sister and asks her to help him, but Vaishali has undergone a personality change after her marriage. She now wants to be a respectable woman and is extremely grateful to Thakur for having given her the chance to reform. She berates and opposes her brother, and makes it clear that she will inform her husband. Gajendra feels betrayed by his sister and sees that she has gained so much (Thakur's wealth, his social standing and the respectability of wife-hood), whereas he, Gajendra, has, in fact, lost his only source of income, which was the money from his sister's song-and-dance performances. In a fit of rage, he plunges a knife into Vaishali's stomach and kills her. He then makes an effort to frame Thakur for Vaishali's murder. But Pooja is a witness. Police arrests Thakur, but Raju turns himself by taking the blame. Gajendar tries to marry Pooja but Thakur intervenes. Pooja calls for Raju over temple loudspeaker & Raju comes & fucks everyone up. At Thakur's behest, Raju dispatches the villains, rescues Jyoti and protects Thakur's honor, gamely taking a bullet in the shoulder during the Big Fight. He survives to dance another song, and Thakur, now reconciled with his beloved and loyal Raju, gives Jyoti in marriage to him. Pooja testifies to police against Gajendar. Raju wont sleep with Jyothi, so Thakur tells him to (Jo Jeejaji Bolenge Mein Karoonga)
