After going to the church, the naive Pat tells Mrs. Trefoile that she was not going to marry Stephen, triggering her insanity. Before they are to get married, Pat, against Alan's wishes, goes to visit Mrs. Trefoile, who Pat has never met. Mrs. Trefoile's son Stephen was Pat's former fiancé before Stephen tragically died. Pat needs to close that chapter of her life before she can move on, and she feels she owes Mrs. Trefoile the courtesy of the visit. Mrs. Trefoile lives in a secluded house in the English country, with her servants, husband and wife Harry and Anna, and a mentally disabled young man named Joseph. Once there, Pat learns that Mrs. Trefoile is a devoutly religious woman who lives by an extremely strict moral code. But Pat quickly comes to the realization that Mrs. Trefoile's need to adhere to that moral code is fanatical. With the assistance of Harry and Anna who are working on their own motivations unknown to their boss, Mrs. Trefoile will do whatever she needs to to save both Pat and Stephen's immortal souls. —Huggo Patricia Carroll was once engaged to Stephen Trefoile who died in an auto accident. Now in England to marry her new fiancé Alan Glentower, she decides to follow up on a promise and visit Stephen's mother. Mrs. Trefoile welcomes her warmly and insists that she spend the night. She proves to be a demanding hostess however - there are no mirrors in the house, insists that Patricia not wear lipstick and is highly religious requiring that her guest attend prayers with her. When Mrs. Trefoile tells her that she considers her to be her daughter and that it would be a sin to "remarry", Patricia tells her the truth: that she never intended to marry Stephen. Mrs. Trefoile then locks her in a room, intending to teach her the errors of her sinful ways. —garykmcd While in rural England beautiful Pat Carroll decides to pay a courtesy call on the mother of her dead fiance Stephen, who was killed in an auto accident several years earlier. The overbearing Mrs. Trefoile is very controlling and presses Pat to stay overnight and go to church with her in the morning. In short order, her guest becomes her prisoner as the religious fanatic uses her servants to enforce her will. When Pat tells her that she wasn't going through with the marriage and that Stephen actually committed suicide, Mrs. Trefoile decides to starve her into obedient submission. Rich playgirl Kit Jordan (nee Katherine Lawson Chandler) is in Acapulco vacationing with her current husband, Pete Jordan, formerly an American beach boy working the Acapulco shores for rich women. Meanwhile, the body of one of Pete's fellow beach boys, Billy Andrews, washes to shore. On his wrist is a bracelet engraved with "Love is thin ice." The police investigate whether it was murder or suicide. Conflict arises when Billy's old girlfriend, Carol, makes a play for Pete, and beach boy Hank tries to score with Kit, and the stability of the marriage is put to the test. —K. Jackson <kjackson@moon.jic.com> The dead body of a young man is discovered washed ashore the beach in Acapulco, the victim identified as American Billy Andrews. His death, which Lt. Riccardo Andrade is investigating, points to it being a possible suicide. The focus then moves to the circle in which he was known to travel as a beach gigolo, he among the stable of men who prey upon primarily middle age, wealthy female tourists. The center of this circle now revolves around the married Jordons, Kit and Pete, the latter who used to be among those gigolos and the former who used to use their services and who "dated" Billy before she met and married Pete. They now provide guidance to any of the beach community who needs help. While Pete does not take advantage of Kit and her money, Kit is more dependent on him emotionally, she arguably unable to handle it if he were ever to leave her. The king of the gigolos is now Hank Walker, who mentors another younger man, Chuck Austin. Hank not only uses sex to make money, but uses it to make money in a worse way in blackmail if the opportunity arises, his latest target being middle age American Margot Eliot, who is more aware of the situation than Hank may realize. Hank also has his sights set back on Kit, as a local source of money in seeing the easy street in which Pete seems to live. Also arriving onto the scene is Billy's former girlfriend, American Carol Lambert, in her search for him. As a bond of sorts forms between Pete and Carol, the question then becomes if the Jordons' marriage can withstand this intrusion, especially on the somewhat shaky foundation on which it was built. —Huggo

Wealthy rancher G. W. McLintock uses his power and influence in the territory to keep the peace between farmers, ranchers, land-grabbers, Indians and corrupt government officials. George Washington McLintock, "GW" to friends and foes alike, is a cattle baron and the richest man in the territory. He anxiously awaits the return of his daughter Becky who has been away at school for the last two years. He's also surprised to see that his wife Katherine has also returned. She had left him some years before without really explaining what he had done, but she does make the point of saying that she's returned to take their daughter back to the State Capitol with her. GW is highly respected by everyone around him, including the farmers who are pouring into the territories with free grants of land and the Indians who are under threat of being relocated to another reservation. Between his wife, his headstrong daughter, the crooked land agent and the thieving government Indian agent, GW tries to keep the peace and do what is best for everyone. —garykmcd On pins and needles all day, waiting for the return of his daughter from college, the influential and self-made cattle king, mining, and timber baron, George Washington McLintock, has one more visitor: his estranged and obstinate wife, Katherine. With his empire carved out of a wilderness, the sudden arrival of settlers creates extra tension among the ranchers, and to further complicate matters, the territorial governor, Cuthbert H. Humphrey, bullies the local Comanche Indians, forcing them to abandon their land. For a small and dusty town near Mesa Verde, this is a bit more excitement than one could handle. Coming home late one night Kelly Sherwood (Lee Remick) is accosted in her garage by an asthmatic thug Red Lynch (Ross Martin) who convinces her he knows of all her daily activities, particularly her schedule at the bank where she works. He terrorizes her into agreeing to help him rob the bank of 20,000 dollars or he says he will kill her and her sister Toby (Stefanie Powers) who lives with Kelly. Kelly agrees but out of fear calls the FBI and speaks with Agent Ripley (Glenn Ford) but the lines goes dead when Red comes into the house and overpowers Kelly. Eventually Agent Ripley connects with Kelly who has not been able to get a good look at Red to identify him, but because of his asthmatic breathing the FBI manages to track him down and set up men to catch him when Kelly takes the money from the bank but Red has kidnapped Toby and plans to kill her after he gets the money. Agreeing to meet Red at a baseball game at Candlestick Park for the money exchange Kelly goes there not aware that the FBI have located and saved Toby and are closing in for a final showdown with Red, if they can only get there in time.
