Meanwhile, in Madurai, there is a ruthless factionalist leader Muthupandi (Prakash Raj), who lusts after Dhanalakshmi (Trisha) and would do anything to marry her. Muthupandi kills Dhanalakshmi's first elder brother as he rejects his offer to marry her. Then Dhanalakshmi's second elder brother is also killed by Muthupandi when he tries to avenge his brother's murder. Dhanalakshmi's father (Vinod Raj) is a meek person who gets horrified by Muthupandi's acts and asks Dhanalakshmi to leave Madurai and lead a peaceful life at her uncle's place in the United States by giving her the necessary certificates and money. Muthupandi catches her when she starts fleeing, because by coincidence, she gets into one of the lorries owned by him. At this juncture, Velu, who is in Madurai to play in a kabaddi tournament, rescues Dhanalakshmi and takes her to Chennai. Velu takes Dhanalakshmi to his house and hides her in his room, unknown to his family. With the help of his friends, he arranges passport, visa, and flight tickets for Dhanalakshmi so that she can go to the US. Meanwhile, Muthupandi and his father (Tanikella Bharani), who is the Home Minister, ask Sivasubramanian to search for Dhanalakshmi and the apparent kidnapper. When Sivasubramanian discovers that it is his own son who did the "crime", Velu and Dhanalakshmi run away and hide in the lighthouse. Dhanalakshmi has by now fallen in love with Velu, and has been accepted by his mother and sister. So she is reluctant to go to the US. Velu however, is adamant on sending her to the US, and he, along with his friends, get her to the airport in time for her flight before their kabaddi match against Punjab in the final of the National League. Sivasubramanian, enraged that his son is a wanted criminal and yet is playing in a kabaddi match, goes to the stadium to arrest Velu. By now, Velu too has fallen in love with Dhanalakshmi and begins to miss her, only to spot her in the stadium during the match. Velu's lack of focus in the game is replaced by his best performance on seeing Dhanalakshmi, winning Tamil Nadu the championship. After winning the championship, Velu is arrested by his father, but is then stopped by Muthupandi, who wants to fight Velu, having been incited by Dhanalakshmi to do so to prove his worth. Velu defeats Muthupandi and embraces Dhanalakshmi, but when Muthupandi regains consciousness and tries to kill Velu, he accidentally falls on a floodlight and dies.

Panduranga Rao gives the judgment for his son by jailing him for six years. After six years, Janardhan Rao dies on the same day when Yogi is released from jail. Dunnapothula Dharma Rao, Janardhan Rao's son, visits the shores of Godavari River to leave the ashes. Yogi foils the rites by resisting, then Dharma Rao challenges Yogi that he is going to mix the ashes of his father in the Godavari before Yogi mixes the ashes of his father, who is still alive, one day. Meanwhile, Yogi falls in love with Anuradha, the strong-willed and independent-minded daughter of Kaasi Visweswara Rao, Dharma Rao's henchman. Finally, Panduranga Rao is judged innocent of the crime by the court. After that, Yogi returns to his father, who now shows remorse for all his actions, including not believing in his son's innocence. He then dies at Yogi's feet. Chandru blames Padmini for the mishap as she was in the kitchen with Amrita at the time, even though Padmini is innocent, no one, including Aravind, believes Chandru. Gowtham, then, turns his eye on the annual bullock race in which Chandru is taking part, by loosening the wheels on Chandru's cart to cause a serious accident and frame Padmini as the culprit, thus creating a wedge between Chandru and Aravind. Unfortunately for Gowtham, Aravind decides to take part in the race in Chandru's place since Chandru is to be married, and manages to win despite using the broken bullock cart. Chandru accuses Padmini of trying to kill him. Padmini threatens to leave the house if Aravind remains friends with Chandru and does not throw him out of the house. Aravind then reveals to her that he had accidentally killed Chandru's deaf-and-dumb younger brother (Master Abhinai) when they were children, which traumatized him so much that he never told anyone about it. Since then, he has been looking out for Chandru out of the guilt that he had no one else in his life anymore. Gowtham overhears their conversation and tells Chandru about it to anger him. Chandru fights with Aravind, breaks their friendship, and leaves the house. Aravind tries to convince Chandru to return and marry Amrita, even if he cannot repair their friendship. However, in the process, Aravind falls from a cliff and seemingly dies. Although Chandru tries to save Aravind, he blames himself for Aravind's fall. Chandru later realizes that his brother was accidentally killed and that Aravind was not intentionally at fault. Five years later, Chandru is a Major in the Indian Army and has never returned to Aravind's home since his supposed death. He receives a letter from Kimoo stating that Aravind is not dead, but in a vegetative state, not responding to anyone and only sitting in a corner. Chandru immediately leaves for Aravind's house, where he also learns that Aravind and Padmini have a young son whose name is Chandru, in tribute to their friendship. Meanwhile, Gowtham, who has been torturing Padmini and Amrita since Aravind went into the vegetative state, finds out that Chandru has returned and beats him up. On hearing Chandru's cries, Aravind wakes up and subdues Gowtham and his goons. In the end, Aravind, Chandru, and Krishnamurthy, as well as Aravind and Padmini, and Chandru and Amrita, are reunited happily.
