Exotic island, youthful abandon, far far away, Ved and Tara a story begins. Ved has grown up among stories. As a kid in Simla, he would collect money, even steal money so that the old storyteller would tell him stories. Ramayan, Helen of Troy, Laila Majnu, Heer Ranjha, Aladin, Romeo Juliet. The storyteller would also say that all stories are the same. Ved wants his story with Tara to be different. So they decide to not tell each other who they are, to only lie about themselves and after returning from the island to never meet each other again. But they do meet again. The question is whether they will be able to shape their story in the way they want. Will the muse be able to make an artist of a common man, will Ved be able to break the shackles of ordinary existence, escape the corporate rat-race and become the way Tara sees him the exuberant story-teller? Corsica, Simla, Delhi, Calcutta, Japan all the world is a stage as the drama of Ved and Tara unfolds. Frolic, rage, quirk, laughter. Defeat, victory. Tamasha.

The story is about a single father (Sachin) who is overly protective of her daughter (Srishti Behl) and does not like the idea that his daughter will leave him after marriage and hence tries to create hurdles between his daughter and her prospective groom. —Anonymous After being widowed, Sanjay Malhotra has taken up the responsibility of raising his only child, a daughter named Simran. Sanjay is overly concerned and protective of his daughter, and wants to be aware of her every moment, diet, friends, etc. Despite of this, Sanjay has an overly active imagination, which compounds this situation. Years pass by, and Sanjay has not changed, though Simran has grown up and now attends college. When Simran meets with Vivek Mehra, both fall in love. Radha (Pooja Bhatt) and Manohar (Vivek Mushran) love each other and want to get married, but Radha's dad (Ashok Saraf) does not approve of their marriage as Manohar comes from a poor family. He instructs Radha not to leave the house, but Radha finds a way to escape and goes to Manohar's house. Anticipating more obstacles, they run away, guided by Radha's uncle Natwarlal(Prem Chopra). Natwarlal convinces them that they must kidnap a wealthy person and demand a big ransom and take the money to appease Radha's dad. Raju, the son of a rich landlord, and Veeru, a poor boy, become doting friends. The duo grows up and Raju decides to get his sister married to Veeru, on whom she has been secretly having a crush.
