Manikarnika - The Queen of Jhansi is the real life story of the warrior queen. She was the first woman in history to fight against the British and started the first war for Independence. The 22-year-old queen refused to cede Jhansi to the British. Dressed as a man, she fought a fierce battle and was killed in combat but her inspiring life story and fight against the British is an inspiring tale of bravery, valor and women`s strength that has inspired generations after her and will inspire generations to come.

College-goers Rahul (Akshay Kapoor), Tanya (Tanisha Mukherjee) and Sameer "Goldie" (Yash Tonk) are members of the Kurta Gang. These three friends are also part of a love triangle: Goldie loves Tanya, who in turn loves Rahul. Tanya stutters a little. Rahul wants to become a music director. Goldie is the stylish person of the gang, although he has the habit of exaggerating a little. Even then, Goldie is an honest person at heart. Rahul is short on confidence, and it is Goldie and Tanya who support him and give him courage to perform his music in front of the college. Rahul is completely oblivious to Tanya's feelings for him. Tanya is a poet and expresses her feelings in form of poetry to Rahul, but he considers it as part of her performance and nothing serious. Goldie knew about Tanya's feelings for Rahul and accepted that he would always be Tanya's friend. The situation becomes even more complex when Sonia Kapur (Rashmi Nigam) takes admission into their college. Rahul falls in love with Sonia. Goldie tries his very best to try and get Rahul in front of Sonia and to get her to notice him. Sonia is oblivious to Rahul's efforts to impress her. All these friends continue their education in college and do not confess their love. Sonia and Rahul study at college for 3 years but Rahul does not speak to her even once. After college Sonia begins a relationship with Yash (Kabir Sadanand). Rahul moves from Sanganer to Mumbai to start his career as a music director and decides he would not meet his friends for the next 5 years or till he becomes famous. Goldie gives him his lucky coin at the train station before he leaves. Goldie, Tanya and Rahul had been friends for 15 years. As the train approaches, Goldie mentions in passing about how Tanya pines for Rahul. 5 years later, VK / Vikramaditya Kapur (Deepak Tijori) selects Rahul to direct the music for his upcoming film. Upon reaching VK's office, Rahul realizes that Sonia is VK's daughter. Sonia had spent the last 5 years studying in the US and had now returned to handle her dad's music business. Sonia has no clue that she studied in college with Rahul, and Rahul is very nervous around her. Sonia is impressed with Rahul's music. Yash is the star of VK's company and features in all of their films. Yash has given 12 flops and 6 hits in his career. VK knows Yash is no good, and he only tolerates him as Sonia is in love with Yash. Sonia finds Rahul cute and simple. Meanwhile Goldie has opened a western themed Dhaba restaurant called "Fashion Bistro". Rahul calls Goldie and he is ecstatic to receive a call from his friend. Rahul narrates how he has landed a job of Music Director in Sonia's company, but she doesn't remember him from college. Goldie comes over to Bombay to meet Rahul. Rahul is invited to dinner by VK and Sonia. But VK has to leave to attend to Yash. Rahul and Sonia end up going to a nightclub together. Then Sonia realizes that she studied with Rahul in college. The next morning, Rahul tells Goldie that Sonia kissed him on the cheeks. Goldie encourages Rahul to invite Sonia for dinner, but Rahul fumbles and invites her to his house. Rahul is a paying guest with Mrs. Malhotra (Kamini Khanna), who loves Rahul but is also very strict with him. Goldie helps Rahul with flower decorations, mouth freshener, a bottle of wine and pink theme for the house to salvage the situation. Rahul is very confident as the evening approaches but again gets very nervous as soon as Sonia enters his house. Rahul conks off after 1 glass of Goldie's cheap wine and the evening is a bust. Tanya comes to meet Rahul in Bombay. Mrs. Malhotra invites Tanya into the house with loving arms. But since Rahul is seeing Sonia, as asks Tanya to hide herself when Sonia comes over. Sonia likes Rahul's simplicity and honesty and decides to make him a star. Rahul still considers Tanya a good "friend", while she loves him dearly. VK wants Sonia to dump Yash and go with Rahul, but he also respects her wishes. VK organizes a launch party for Rahul's music. Tanya refuses to go, but Goldie comes. Goldie is a big fan of Sushmita, who is a heroine in the movie and gets chatty with her. Sonia notices this and starts questioning Goldie about who he is and who invited him to the party. Rahul refuses to defend his own friend, which hurts Goldie. Goldie doesn't let Tanya know how Rahul treated him at the party, and so Tanya keeps helping Rahul to get close to Sonia. Sonia gets angry with Rahul when he stares at a bikini clad bimbo, while on a date with her. That evening Sonia comes to meet Rahul at his house and sees Tanya. Goldie was not home. Sonia gives an ultimatum that Rahul has to choose between her and his friends. Once again Rahul fails to defend his friends. Tanya decides to leave and live in a hotel, and when Rahul goes to drop her, he sees Sonia with Yash. Goldie comes back home and yells at Rahul when he finds that Tanya has left to live in a hotel. Goldie tells Rahul that Tanya loves him dearly. Sonia gifts a new car to Rahul and wants a new beginning. Tanya comes to meet Rahul, and again encourages him to profess his love to Sonia. They agree to be friends forever. Tanya decides to leave town. That night Rahul attends the premiere of his movie, the biggest night of his life. As he walks down the red carpet, he is interviewed by reporters and all he can think of is how Tanya and Goldie played a part in his life and his success. Rahul leaves. Yash proposes to Sonia. Goldie reaches the premiere and professes his love to Sushmita. Rahul can't find Tanya at the hotel or the airport, and reaches home defeated. He finally finds Tanya at Marine drive. Rahul and Tanya unite finally.

Mihir Shandilya gives an interview to a TV news channel. Mihir is a successful businessman, and an eligible bachelor. He says that he is looking for a woman who has made her own identity away from the traditional stereotypes given to females by society. The host Tara wants to know who this mystery girl is. Mihir says that she would have to meet his mystery woman. Julie was watching this interview on TV and reaches out to Tara and says that she wants to give her interview on TV, and says that she a prostitute, a professional escort. Julie says that she is the mystery woman in Mihir's life. Julie says that Mihir does not know about her profession and wants the world and Mihir to find out together. Tara wants to hear Julie's life story before she grants her request. Julie's goes into the past to narrate her life. Julie (Neha Dhupia) is a girl next door from Goa, with her boyfriend Neil (Yash Tonk). Her father (Sudhir Joshi) runs a bakery and Julie is happy in her small life. Neil is ambitious and wants to be a rich businessman like Braganza. Julie says that a small house and a happy life is enough for her. Julie presses Neil to get married but he is not willing to commit. Neil seduces Julie to have sex with her. Julie's friend Dinky had recently moved to Mumbai to become an air-hostess. Neil moves away from Goa for a few weeks to Bangalore for a business-related purpose, and Julie starts dreaming of a family with him. Neil comes back and marries the daughter of a business tycoon in Goa, Braganza, in exchange of managing his business empire in Goa. Julie is heartbroken and cannot stand to be in Goa, as everything in Goa reminds her of Neil and his betrayal. Via Dinky Julie decides to move to Mumbai. Dinky gets Julie a job at a construction company. They both visit a salon where Dinky tells Julie that the owner Delnaz runs a side business as a pimp and supplies high class call girls to the high and mighty of Mumbai. Julie has bright interior design ideas at her job (such as color of walls to sky blue) and her ideas impress her bosses, specifically Rohan who is the resident interior designer at the company. Due to her suggestions, the entire project gets sold out in double quick time. Rohan charms Julie with sweet-talk and soon starts dating Julie. Rohan wins a large contract due to Julie's ideas. He says he wants to marry her, and Julie has sex with him. One day, she is physically abused by Rohan (Sanjay Kapoor). Rohan wanted Julie to sleep with a prospective client to help him win the contract, but Julie reacts violently. Rohan had argued that he was anyways planning to marry Julie, but one night with the client would have secured their financial futures for their entire life. Heartbroken and emotionless, she loses faith in love and decides to become a call girl (she meets Delnaz at a coffee cafe, and she understands her exploitation). Delnaz connects with Julie and says that a man always wants a woman to give up in front of impossible circumstances and don't expect her to fight back. She encourages Julie to take charge of her own life. Julie decides to create her own identity. That night, when Julie met Delnaz, she slept with her first client and became a professional prostitute. Dinky was away on an overseas assignment and hence could not stop Julie from taking this extreme step. One day Julie is asked to have sex with a minister in Delhi, but the payment is arranged by a different person. Turns out that the middleman was Neil. He is ashamed that Julie has become a prostitute, but Julie is not. Julie has a chance meeting with Mihir Shandilya (Priyanshu Chatterjee). Mihir is staying at the same hotel where Julie had come to "service" the minister. Mihir is a multi-millionaire and one of the most eligible bachelors in town, leads to their instant liking for each other. Julie's purse is stolen and Mihir gives her a lift to her home. She doesn't have the keys (they were in the purse), so Mihir ends up spending the night with Julie at the beach. The next day he rushes back from the office to propose to her (his father had sent the photo of a girl from London, which makes Mihir realize that he loves Julie) Mihir is completely besotted by her beauty and, being a family-oriented man, proposes marriage to her. Mihir has a loving and supportive family, who all welcome Julie with a warm heart. The family includes Mihir's sister Sonia (Donny Bharadwaj). All is well except that Mihir, and his family are unaware of the fact that Julie is a high-profile prostitute. During a TV interview, Mihir surprises everyone by mentioning that there is someone special in his life. Julie is now in a dilemma. If she tells her future husband about her socially unacceptable profession then she may not be accepted by his family and if she doesn't, that will be bring untold pain and misery to them (and they are nice people). Julie does not want the family to suffer on account of her checkered past. Julie goes to the TV Show host Tara (Achint Kaur) saying she wants to be interviewed by her. Tara agrees after listening the Julie's entire life story. As the show goes live on air, it creates a mini earthquake in Mumbai political and financial circles, when she claims that Mihir loves her. The show goes off air due to protests and comes back on in a few hours with police protection. Mihir arrives on the sets and says that he knew the truth about Julie from 3 days ago. He still declares his love for Julie and re-commits his marriage proposal to her. He gives a lecture on how society wants prostitutes but won't accept them in their houses.

Rajiv pretends to be in love with Payal to gain popularity at their college. But the truth soon comes out and forms a rift in their friendship that may never heal.

Karan (Tusshar Kapoor) and Natasha (Anita Hassanandani) are childhood friends. Natasha has always loved Karan, albeit secretly and wanted to marry him. Karan, however, falls for Tanya (Esha Deol), the new admission in college. Meanwhile, Professor Bakshi (Rishi Kapoor), who is rumored to have murdered his wife and hidden her body, is reinstated at the college. When Karan falls for Tanya, a playboy named Yash (Yash Tonk) befriends him and helps his way through Tanya's heart. Yash is Tanya's friend, but loves Natasha who is Karan's friend (so this is a give and take type situation). Karan finds every opportunity to impress Tanya (Kidnaps the sports teacher to get on the basketball team, Yash allows Karan to dance with Tanya at the prom fully knowing that Karan cant dance), but fails every time. Meanwhile Natasha watches silently & sadly, but she is pissed to know that Karan is trying to set her up with Yash. Meanwhile it is shown that a boy enters Bakshi's house to ask for his help and ends up finding something in his basement and is super scared. The next night he is chased around in the college by a masked assassin with a knife and hanged to death. Meanwhile at the final exams, Yash begs Karan to let him cheat, but Bakshi is the class monitor and is watching the 2 intently. He is about to catch Karan passing sheets to Yash, but Tanya takes the blame and flunks out. Karan is ashamed and decides to break into Bakshi's house to switch Tanya's answer sheet, so she can pass easily. Natasha tries to stop Karan, but he adamant. Together Karan, Natasha and Yash along with two other friends, Pat (Vrajesh Hirjee) and Kush, sneak inside Professor Bakshi's house to retrieve the exam papers so Tanya's year won't be a waste. They enter when they see Bakshi leave the house. Tanya comes to try and stop them (Natasha had told her what Karan was about to do). When they find a woman's dead body there, they try to run away in Tanya's car and she is driving. It is raining heavily and their car accidentally hits Professor Bakshi and he falls down the cliff. Fearing arrest, they run away. Tanya is traumatized by these events (She finds a intruder in her car who tries to kill her, but nobody believes her version of the stories), and leaves to start a new life. The friends are scattered. Years later, Tanya, Karan and their group have a reunion at the wedding of one of their friends (Kush with Dolly) in Shimla (the site of their old college). Karan is now engaged to Natasha, but is super happy to see Tanya at the wedding. Meanwhile when Pat arrives he is shaken to the core as he thinks he saw Prog Bakshi at the railway station. As soon as Tanya and Karan get together they start spending time together. Tanya doesn't know that Karan is engaged to Natasha and admits to her that she still has feelings for him. Pat is certain that he saw Bakshi and so the friends go his house and find nothing and nobody there. But they miss a burning cigarette and a half peg of whiskey. However, a killer is lurking somewhere nearby and is waiting to strike. And one by one they start to die: Pat, Dolly and Kush are all killed, while Yash is attacked, but miraculously survives. Eventually, only three are left. When Yash is attacked again, Karan follows who appears to be Professor Bakshi. Karan finds that Bakshi is alive. He wanted to kill Tanya only because she was the one who hit him that night. Bakshi admits to killing his wife and keeping her body in his basement (many yrs ago) as he wanted to be with her forever and she wanted to leave him as she thought Bakshi is mad. Bakshi spent the last 3 yrs hiding from the police, and took this opportunity to eliminate everyone, when they came to attend Kush and Dolly's wedding. He admits to killing Pat and Yash. But not Dolly. Karan finds someone else being attacked while Bakshi is with him. He leaves to find Khush attacked, and Khush says "Tanya" as he holds a piece of red fabric. Karan thinks Tanya is about to kill Natasha. Karan follows a car which has Natasha and Tanya in it to a cliff, and finds Natasha injured. Natasha tells him that Professor Bakshi had brought her and Tanya here. Karan realizes she is lying, as Professor Bakshi was with him, and also realizes the piece of fabric Khush had in his hand came off Natasha's scarf. He asks Natasha why she attacked everyone, and she claims it because she loved him. She begs him to forgive her, but he is speechless. She says that after finding this out, he won't forgive her, so she walks backwards in the snow and falls off the edge, yelling Karan's name. He runs to save her, but is unsuccessful, and her scarf blows into his face. On the first day of college, Karan remembers each of his friends who died, including Natasha. While on the plane back to Delhi, he meets Tanya again, and they decide to be with each other, while they find Yash in the back seat.
