A few days later Vijay goes for a flight whereby he meets with an accident and is believed to be dead. As for Pooja; she re-marries Amar and give birth to a child. It is not long after Vijay returns and gets to learn that his accident was planned. Ashok Bansal (Jackie Shroff) is a strict industrialist, inspired by the British 'stiff upper lip'. Ashok starts hating poor people & starts working hard to become rich because his mother abandoned him with his two other siblings and left for a richer man in the past. Karim (Deven Verma) is Head Servant of the house. In the process of acquiring wealth, he becomes an unbearable disciplinarian and neglects his family consisting of his younger brother Anil (Shahrukh Khan) and sister Suneeta (Nivedita Saraf). Anil has returned home after many yrs of studies. Ashok is out of town on business and Anil throws a party to celebrate. But Ashok returns unexpectedly and yells at Anil for wasting time and money on parties as he does not like it. The next day he yells at Suneeta for being few minutes late for breakfast as she was preparing the Thali for Rakhi. Anil loves Kavita, who is a poor girl. One day Ashok sees Anil with Kavita and is livid. That night Ashok confronts Anil and says that Kavita is only after Anil for Ashok's wealth. Anil tells Ashok that he or Kavita do not care for his wealth. Anil goes against his brother's highhanded ways and marries Kavita (Nagma), a poor girl and opting to leave the house. Fenni Fernando (Anu Agarwal) is Ashok's secretary in office. Ashok gets his sister Suneeta married to a man who turns out to be a gold digger Pradeep Mallik (Dalip Tahil), although she is in love with Ashok's manager Kamal (Vivek Vaswani) (neither had the courage to go against Ashok and admit their feelings for each other). Pradeep was guided by Mr. Mallik (Bharat Kapoor), Pradeep's brother and his wife (Madhu Malhotra). They send Jairam (Viju Khote), as Marriage Mediator of Sunita and Pradeep. The wedding takes place in double quick time and Anil is not invited to it. Ashok travels to Ranigarh for a new auto-parts plant. There an orphan named Munna makes fun of him and the way he walks (while he was out touring the town). Munna lives in an orphanage under the eyes of evil caretaker Shanti (Sushmita Mukherjee). Pratap (Paresh Rawal) is Shanti's boyfriend and also runs a car theft business in town. Shanti uses the orphanage money to fund her drinking binges. Ashok finds out where Munna lives and visits the orphanage to take revenge. At the time, some journalists are visiting the orphanage. Kamal suggests Ashok should donate, but Munna advises Ashok not to donate too much as Shanti will spend it on her drinks. Ashok gives her rs 50, which makes her angry. That evening Shanti thrashes Munna badly, who has no option but to escape and who decides to hide in Ashok's car and leave for town with him. Munna (Pooja Ruparel), an orphan arrives at Ashok Bansal's house. Initially the servants think Munna is a boy and are ordered to give him a bath, but they find Munna has long hair and that she is a girl. Fenni is summoned to give Munna a bath and to get her ready. Ashok has to allow her to stay for a few days as his sudden appearance at the orphanage has done wonders for his PR and sending her back will create negative press. She creates havoc in Ashok's home (She forces Ashok to spend time with her and Fenni (who is Munna's caretaker), watch movies and so on). Meanwhile Shanti figures out that Munna is living with Ashok and calls him to threaten that he has "stolen" Munna from the orphanage and she will go to the press with this. Ashok decides to take Munna back to the Orphanage, but his car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Ashok, Fenni and Munna are forced to take a lift in a truck. They are dropped 20 Kms from Ranigarh. They are forced to spend the night in an abandoned cottage. Fenni manages to forage some food from the local area, but Ashok refuses to touch it. The situation leads to many amorous encounters between Fenni and Ashok (including Ashok seeing Fenni completely naked). Ashok returns Munna to the orphanage the next day. Munna says that she left on her own choice, and forces Shanti to take the lawsuit back, causing a loss of millions. Ashok is happy now but misses Munna terribly. He shares with Fenni the reason why he hates the word "love" so much in his life. On the way back, a trashed Munna again blocks his car, and this time Ashok hugs Munna and brings her back with him to his estate. Ashok is much more relaxed now and values love in his life. He trims his mustache and dresses more informally. Fenni is shocked at his transformation. At her birthday, Ashok gets drunk and openly admits her love for Fenni. Meanwhile Suneeta is in hell as Pradeep sleeps with other women in front of her. Ashok misses Anil and puts out an ad in the newspaper calling him back. as luck would have it, Anil works in an auto garage owned by Pratap. Anil tells Pratap that Ashok is not his brother. On Rakhi, Ashok goes to meet Suneeta. Ashok meets Anil there. Ashok begs for forgiveness to Anil, but Anil refuses to forgive Ashok as he has done a grave injustice to Suneeta by marrying her to Pradeep, as she is treated like a servant in the house and beaten badly. Ashok beats up Pradeep black and blue and brings Suneeta home. Ashok forces Pradeep to sign the divorce papers by threatening to reveal his tax frauds and other thefts with the Govt. Ashok unites Suneeta to Kamal. Meanwhile Anil finds out that Pratap is dealing in stolen cars. As Pratap decides to kill Anil, Ashok intervenes to save him. Pratap is defeated and escapes. Shanti finds Munna is at Ashok's house. Ashok has sent an application to adopt Munna. Anil and Kavita return home. Shanti meets Ashok at his house and says Munna parents have resurfaced and want her back. Shanti offers to buy off the parents for Rs 25 Lakhs, but Ashok now senses that Shanti wants the money for herself and refuses to pay. Ashok puts a notice out in all newspapers that he is adopting Munna. Pratap and Shanti find a piece of locket in the storeroom, that Munna carries in her neck. This would be conclusive proof that whoever carries that piece is her parents. The orphanage kids hear this plan of Pratap to kill Munna after they get the money from Ashok. Pratap and Shanti disguise themselves and reach Ashok as Munna's parents. They say Munna was lost is a carnival many years ago. The piece matches and Ashok sends Munna away with them and Rs 50 Lakhs. The orphans meanwhile go to the police and ask the inspector to call and warn Ashok. The orphans tell Ashok about Shanti and Pratap's plan. Munna escapes and hides in the carnival. She had hidden the money suitcase. Ashok reaches on time and gives Pratap the money, and he wants Munna back. Anil attacks and together they both rescue Munna, while Pratap and Shanti are killed.

A terminally ill and depressed young man falls in love with a mischievous young woman who, it turns out, is also suffering from a fatal disease. Naina, a beautiful and precocious young woman suffering from a terminal illness, lives in the natural grandeur of Ooty, a hill-station in India. Akash meets her and falls in love at first sight. Aman asks Akash to pose as Sagar. Thus Pooja and Akash fall in love with each other. Meanwhile, Akash discovers that Aman loves Pooja and he is the real Sagar and confronts him. Pooja witnesses the confrontation and goes away, upset with both of them. Who does Pooja choose forms the crux of the story.

An obsessive photographer (Aamir Khan) believes an engaged woman (Madhuri Dixit) is in love with him. Anita (Madhuri Dixit) is a model, and Ajay Sharma is a photographer, both work for the same agency. Ajay has fallen in love with Anita, and thinks that she is also in love with him. But Anita only takes him for a friend. She gets engaged to Vikram (Jainendra), and the marriage is to take place soon. Ajay still believes that Anita loves him, and he also starts making preparation for his marriage with Anita. Om lands in trouble when police inspector Yadav gets shot by Shakti and he gets arrested. Rita wants Ramsay to release him at any cost.Ramsay comes across Hari and makes a deal of one Lakh by selling his car to him; hr needs the money for his sister's wedding. Avtaar Krishen lives a poor lifestyle with his wife, Radha, and two sons, Ramesh and Chander. He works in a factory and toils hard so that his sons can get the necessary education, and live a better lifestyle. He gets injured and crippled while working, but is compensated adequately by his employer, Bawaji. Years later his sons have grown up. While Ramesh has married Sudha and works with a bank; Chander is wooing Renu, the only daughter of wealthy Seth Laxminarayan. When Avtaar and Radha wish to go on a tirathyatra (pilgrimage), they ask Ramesh to book tickets for them, but he tells them that he has no money. When Radha gets sick, their servant, Sewak, enters Sudha's room to get some money for her treatment, as a result Radha does get treatment, but Sudha blames them for stealing her money. Avtaar asks Ramesh and his wife to get out, only to find out that the house is now in Sudha's name. AVtaar, Radha and Sewak move out and live in a shanty hut. Their hopes are with Chander, who does well in his exams, decides to marry Renu, and moves out without financially assisting his parents. Time goes by and the college mates come together again. Saif (Asrani) is now a dissolute magazine editor, alcoholic and womaniser. Niloufer is divorced by Nawab Wasim (Deepak Parasher), a debonair, workacholic and self centred man. Afaque, a publisher of Urdu poetry is single while keeping the flame of his love for Niloufer alive in his heart. The story takes us through details of Sharia (muslim) law regarding divorce and remarriage. Niloufer habitually keeps a diary, which proves to be her undoing. Does she still love her her ex-husband? On her birthday she receives a present from her doting husband, a present that is so utterly unexpected and an utterly selfless sacrifice. A proposal to replace the word Talaq - which, if repeated thrice results in divorce with another word, which should be repeated time and time again in a marriage is the denouement of the film. —MG Gopalan

Dhaniya and Kundan are childhood sweethearts, and hope to marry once they have attained maturity. Dhaniya would like to have some money in her possession before she marries, so they decide to travel to Bombay, find some work, save some money, and then marry. Upon arrival in Bombay, they find that getting employment is not all that easy, especially when one is unskilled. Dhaniya feels that she is good at acting, and feels she will be successful as an actress. So both try their hand with various Bollywood agents, and after quite a few misadventures, Dhaniya gets an acting role. She surpasses all estimations, and becomes a star overnight. Kundan sees all the glitter and the glare from the outside, but is unable to become part of what Dhaniya, who now calls herself Sarita, has become. Sarita is so intent on saving money, that she ends up spending more and more money, quite unable to save any, and finally Kundan realizes that he has lost her to the artificial glamor world, leaves her, and heads back home. Chandru lives in a palatial house with his dad, Ram Kumar; mom Sita; elder brother Shyam and his wife. Chandru is in love with Geeta Sinha, the only daughter of wealthy Dr. Sinha, and would like to marry her. Geeta, too is in love with Chandru and introduces him to her dad. Dr. Sinha has no objections, the young couple are then formally engaged and a wedding date is set. The wedding preparations take place in both the households, and soon the big day arrives. Before the marriage could be formalized, Dr. Sinha asks Ram that he has heard that Chandru is not the son of Sita but of a prostitute named Radha. This shocks everyone present, and it looks like Ram has a lot of explaining to do in order to get his son married or else live with this stigma for the rest of his life.

Vijay and Ajay make a living by stealing money from people. Their friendship is affected when Vijay discovers that Ajay`s father may have been his father`s killer.

Rajesh Narain lives a poor lifestyle in a small town in British India along with his brother, Brijesh, Bhabi, and a niece, Munni. He attends college and has a sweetheart in wealthy Kamini Sinha, and both hope to get married someday. While Brijesh is actively involved in trying to force their oppressors (the British) to leave India, poetic Rajesh has no interest in politics. Things change when Brijesh gets killed and Rajesh decides to avenge his death by actively becoming involved with freedom fighters so much so that he quickly becomes a thorn on the Britisher's side and orders are issued to apprehend him - dead or alive. He even spurns Kamini, who ends up getting married to a man of her dad's choice. To escape prosecution/court martial, he runs from the front and returns home. Army personnel think Rakesh has become a deserter and also think that Kamal is missing in action and believed dead.
