In the summer of 1995, a busload of German exchange students arrives at the tranquil Orange Lutheran High School in California, which will turn the school upside down and provide interesting insights into German-American relations. In the summer of 1995, a busload of German exchange students arrives at the tranquil Orange Lutheran High School in California, which will turn the school upside down. This multi-layered documentary illuminates the relationship between young Germans and Americans. It shows many prejudices and also the difference to the American school system. A meeting of different cultures and nevertheless the beginning of friendships that will later last for decades. The social gradient of housing in Orange is very strong. A part of the group is housed very lavishly in villas with a swimming pool with the host parents and other students arrive in very poor circumstances and have to sleep on air mattress next to the dog basket. There are conflicts between the German teacher and his students, between pupils themselves and between host parents and their host children. In fact, the viewer of this film gets to see many places, because every afternoon after class, the school bus of the German youth group heads for a different destination, like Sightseeing in L.A., Jail and Courthouse Tour, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Wild Rivers, Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Mexico, San Francisco, Sea World, Malibu Beach, Venice Beach and Newport Beach.
