Meanwhile, Snata Mitra a journalist by profession tried to delve deep into these issues. In her journey, she met Debdutta Burman, the son of the soil. What follows is how Snata changes Debdutta's life.

On a wintery morning in Kolkata, five people who leave office at midnight, take a cab to return home. During the course of the journey, they narrate stories of supernatural events, stories of spooky events they experienced, and stories that go beyond the mundane corporate life. Shob Bhooturey is a Bengali ghost film where the protagonist Aniket (Abir Chatterjee) is a modern guy who is hell-bent on closing down the ghost magazine, started by his father, the Late Nabinmadhab Sen. The editor of the magazine "Shob Bhooturey" and Nabinmadhab`s friend Kripadhar Babu (Supriyo Dutta) is opposed to Aniket`s decision. At this time a strange girl, Nandini (Sohini Sarkar), comes to their office and claims that Nabinmadhab had promised her employment because she can apparently see ghosts. Parallel to this, a school in the village of Kushumpur is shut down due to the occurrence of ghostly events culminating in the mysterious death of a child named Mini (Ida Dasgupta). The headmaster of the school, Poritosh Mukherjee (Sumanto Mukherjee) comes to this magazine for help. Aniket, Nandini and Kripadhar Babu set out on a mission to re-open the school and unravel the ghostly mystery.

ìMandobasar Galpoî is a Romantic Musical ñ Thriller where the main protagonist Ahana Sen (played by Paoli Dam) is a cerebral film maker of national reputes but is a loner in reality after losing her fiancÈ Ritwick Basu (played by Kaushik Sen) few days before their wedding. Ritwik's sudden demise, left Ahana deserted, lonely and totally dejected with all the positive facets of life. Dr. Sayantan Chowdhury, a renowned psychiatrist (played by Parambrata Chatterjee) treated her, helped her come out of the melancholia and had been instrumental in making Ahana a successful film maker. But all the feature films, directed by Ahana depicted the darker shades of human nature and essentially always resulted in a climax, which always felt her audiences sad & gloomy. In short, her personal crisis was gradually making a vast impact in her creativity. Things changed drastically, when Ahana met Rick Ray, (played by Indrasish Roy), a budding musician in an audition and she gave him the lead character in her new movie. Ahana's behaviour started undergoing a gradual change for better with ongoing time. She also started getting attracted to Rick. Why? None knew about that. Ahana also started feeling jealous of Oidrilla (played by Ritu Rai), the heroine of her movie due to her excessive interest towards Rick. This triangular relationship started effecting the film adversely. The Producer of the movie Anurag Bhattacharya and the PR personnel Mallika couldn't handle the situation as Ahana seemed very stubborn and adamant in all her decisions. Why? None knew about that. Sreeparna (played by Dipanwita), the chief assistant director of Ahana and her journalist boyfriend Abhirup Dutta (played by Anindya Chatterjee) also started to take keen interest in this uncanny love story between Ahana & Rick, as there was something unusual about it. This is when the plot unfolds. The story is about the various facets of human emotion and how the characters deal with them.

The remaining story revolves around how Abhimanyu takes on this terror network and emerges out of it.

A social satire that questions prevalent gender relations. However, the script does not stop at questioning patriarchy only it also raises sharp questions about matriarchy as an alternative. This double angle allows the script to challenge the imbalance in power distribution in personal, familial and social relationships the very basis of gender injustice per se. The film operates with a comic approach even to depict the most unpalatable forms of injustice meted out on the basis of gender imbalances. Cutting across situations in the world with deep concern in the Heavens about the prevalent conditions on earth, the script refers everything from Bengali intellectualism to wrong notions of the panacea for all ills lying in power changing hands in the form of patriarchy being replaced by matriarchy. It is only towards the end that the script subtly veers into a more serious mode that stresses the need for mutual understanding among couples and highlights the need for individual women to take charge of their own lives as a step towards a greater social change. The narrative is never linear. Represented in a script written by, an ambitious but failed filmmaker, Aniruddha, who is also depicted to be a rather uncaring husband and father. He is too wrapped up in himself to care for what his wife Swagata is going through, or his childs justified expectations from him. In his script an oscillation between the World and the Heavens takes place. Human beings and gods and goddesses from the Hindu pantheon appear together to depict an imagined reality that would get people to double with laughter only to be soberly reminded in the end that much of the fantasy is rather real in our surroundings. The script within the film zigzags between gender injustice in this World and the concern in the Heavens about that. Real life issues of dowry demands, son preference, chaste and devoted wives with drinking, torturing husbands are captured through Aniruddhas script. The Dutta family with one failed lawyer as the master of the house, his wife, a married son with two daughters and the younger son in a relationship with a woman his father does not approve of provides the locale for these. The concern at the Heavens on the increasing rate of violence against women, very much a reality in the world we live in, allows the satire to reach incredible heights of absurd comicality by upturning the entire scenario where the drunkard, torturing husbands take on the roles of their enduring wives; men get sexually harassed and women rivals engage in all-to-known action sequences over a man they both fancy. The heavens are modeled on a corporate media house, subtly reflecting the role media can play in challenging issues that matter. Aniruddha is made to question his own position and perspective through his own script and more importantly by his wife Swagata as she takes her first decisive steps for herself underlining the need for individual change to precede social change. At the end, the film goes back to Aniruddhas script and through a discourse in the Heaven, takes the argument another step forward, beyond the `gender-equality` platform and tries to explain the notion of social equilibrium in general.

The story is based on the novel by Sunil Gangopadhyay. Set during the period of the naxalite movement in Bengal, Pratidwandi tells the story of Siddharta, an educated middle-class man caught within the turmoils of social unrest. The story revolves around the lives of Indians living abroad who often tends to adapt to foreign cultures as their own while consciously or unconsciously forgetting the rich traditions back home. Anna (Subhashree), an NRI brought up in London is brought to India by her father on the occasion of Durga Puja, with plans of getting her married to Dev. Anna is already in love with a half Brit man. Anna delays the marriage and hatches a plan to bring Dev to London and break up with him there. What happens after Dev comes to London forms the crux of the film.

Directed by Anjan Dutt, the movie is about Soumyak, Anubrato, Tanaji and Sumeet who are trying to make it big with their Bangla band. While the movie is more like a rock musical, it also covers issues such as communal tension between Hindus and Muslims and gun violence. Watch out for live acts by Bangla bands Jack Rabbit, Inferno and Alokborsho.
