His men are afraid that cop Namdev Mane (Suniel Shetty) might intercept the diamonds, which will bankrupt Carlos. Sania Badnaam (Celina Jaitly) is Carlos's girlfriend and is smuggling the diamonds out of India for him. Carlos instructs Sania to transfer the diamonds to Mumbai by train. The call is intercepted by Namdev. 4 years ago, Namdev led a raid on suspected Brown sugar warehouse in Mumbai, but it turned out to be a consignment of bras. Namdev was demoted and his reputation was ruined. 6 Alvares House in Bandra, Mumbai, is the residence of myopic, widowed, devout Hindu, Satyabol Shastri (Anupam Kher), who lives there with his daughter, Shivani (Riya Sen) (who is a simple girl from a Brahmin family). Shivani is in love with her Christian neighbor, Arjun Fernandes (Shreyas Talpade), who is a mechanic and lives with his Wanna-be singer sister, Julie (Koena Mitra) (a bar dancer with quite a reputation, but behind her raunchy exterior is a compassionate, kind woman who goes out of her way to help the needy), and a younger ailing sister, Titli (who has a hole in her heart which can only be fixed by an expensive surgery). Satyabol disapproves of Arjun and wants his daughter to marry Sarju Maharaj Banaraswale's (Sanjay Mishra) son. Satyabol has not seen Sarju or his son, and this match has been arranged by the local priest, who is a friend of Satyabol. Other than Satyabol chasing Badshah, the pet dog of Arjun, and ending up in the women's bathroom, the area is fairly peaceful. Then Arjun and his friends try to think of a plan to stop Sarju from marrying his son to Shivani but can't. So, Arjun calls his best friend Kishan (Ritesh Deshmukh) to help them. Kishan is a conman in Goa who has duped many Gurkhas led by Rana Jang Bahadur (Chunky Pandey), by getting them to invest in his scam chit fund. Rana has vowed to pursue Kishan and get the money back to the poor Gurkhas. Kishan escapes by train and it is the same train in which Sania is bringing the diamonds to Mumbai. On the train Kishan by chance runs into Sarju Maharaj, whom he remembers as the guy who is coming to meet Satyabol daughter for a possible marriage with his son. Kishan convinces Sarju to get down from the train to get water. He also encourages Sarju to say that he is "Kishan's" uncle, as he had seen Rana on the platform. Sarju gets down and is apprehended by Rana, who wants his revenge against Kishan. Kishan comes disguised as Sarju Maharaj Banaraswale. On the train Sania sees Namdev pursuing her. She has the diamonds hidden in the sole of her sandals and puts the same in Kishan's bag. Namdev arrests Sania, even though he can't find the Diamonds in her luggage. Sania is released from custody, but Namdev abducts her illegally. Carlos gets info that Sania has been abducted and suspects Sania of double crossing her. Namdev wants Sania to help him get the diamonds and offers her a 50% cut as well. Sania takes the offer. Meanwhile, Kishan (as Sarju) gifts the sandals that he finds in Sarju's luggage to Shivani. Fake Sarju then convinces Satyabol that his (Sarju's) son is not good for his (Shashtri's) daughter by dancing in the bar and kissing Julie who was in the act. Then Shashtri informs the fake Sarju that he does not want to marry his daughter to Sarju's son and that he can go now. So having finished his mission, Kishan prepares to leave when Arjun tells him to stay back as he loves Julie, but Kishan refuses to say that he is not destined for Julie. Then after Arjun leaves and Rana turns up with the real Sarju at the railway station and identifies Kishan. Kishan says that all the cash is with Sarju they leave Kishan and run after Sarju while Kishan escapes. Kishan disguises himself as a woman named Sunaina and says 'she' is Arjun's auntie. Soon, Shastri falls in love with Sunaina, and calls her "Sania". Sunaina distracts Shastri and allows Shivani to meet Arjun in private. Meanwhile Kishan uses the opportunity to get close to Julie and makes her fall in love with him. Sunaina's sandal breaks and Shastri gifts her the sandals that Kishan (as Sarju) had gifted to Shivani. Then in the neighborhood also comes Matha Prasad (Rajpal Yadav) who runs a dairy farm and moonlights as the hit-man of Carlos. Matha hears Shastri refer to Sunaina as "Sania" and abducts her, as per instructions from Carlos. Then Rana arrives, followed by Namdev and Sania. Namdev arrests Rana and asks him to take them to Sarju (Since Sania said the bag is with Sarju). When they get there, Sania says that that's not the Sarju, who has the diamonds. Namdev and Sania figure out that Kishan is the fake Sarju and go after him. Rana figures out that Kishan has Rs 50 Crores worth of diamonds. He steals Sania's phone and calls Carlos directly. Rana says he has Sania in his custody. Matha and Rana both ask Carlos for Rs 50 Lakhs in exchange for returning Sania. Meanwhile Kishan escapes from Matha and reaches back where Arjun and Shastri have found the Sarju's bag. But Maane arrives with Sania and takes the bag at gunpoint. Kishan/Sunaina reveals that the bag had 50 Crores worth of diamonds. Now Sania and Namdev realize that the bag is empty, but Rana arrives and abducts Sania. Arjun tells Shivani that Sunaina is in fact Kishan. Meanwhile Shastri agrees to marry Shivani to Arjun if Sunaina agrees to marry him. Namdev tracks down Kishan and they all figure out that the diamonds are hidden in the sandals on Kishan's feet. Rana takes Sania to Carlos, who says that the diamonds are with Kishan. Carlos attacks the Bandra location with full force. Carlos forces Kishan to have over the sandal to him, but chaos ensues as Kishan throws the sandal as Carlos and everybody leaps at it. Carlos is eventually arrested by the police. Kishan reveals that he had stolen 1 diamond before handing over the sandal. The gang sells the diamond to pay for Titl's surgery.

Since Balram is of marriageable age, he arranges his marriage with the daughter Dhamini of Laxmi Devi (Lakshmi). Dhamini used to love Balram. Laxmi decides to oppose this marriage. During the wedding ceremony, Laxmi Devi and her sons, Surajbhan (Akhilendra Mishra), and Pratap (Deep Dhillon) forcibly take away their sister from the wedding pyre. Laxmi's husband shoots at Balram, but accidentally kill Parvati. They subsequently get Dhamini married to Kashinath (Shakti Kapoor). An enraged Angar hacks Laxmi's husband to death, is arrested and sentenced to 14 years in prison. When he returns, he makes it clear that women will not be permitted in his house, posting a sign on the front gate, and forbids his sons to ever marry. Advocate Milind Sharma (Asrani) is Angar's lawyer. Angar will take up any issue for the villagers if it against Laxmi's interests. The 4 sons are now settled in their businesses (and Jai studies in law college), but are summoned to the village by Angar, whenever he needs them. 6 years later, Dhamini's daughter Anjali is in college with Jai, Angar's youngest son. Lucky (Arshad Warsi) is Jai's best friend in college. Surya is married to Ramila (Upasana Singh) and Pratap is married to Raakhi (Ada Puri). Angar learns Anjali (Kareena Kapoor) will marry the state's Home Minister. Due to the impending marriage, Anjali quits her law studies midway. Still having a grudge against women, Angar breaks the wedding by political pressure. Angar had kept 10 MLAs under his control and had threatened the Home Minister to refuse the wedding else Angar would topple the government and throw him out of a job. Dhamini had since passed away and hence Laxmi had spared no expense for Anjali's wedding. Laxmi was livid at the humiliation and only her 3rd son Veer was able to calm her down and bring the situation under control. Laxmi's Advocate Namdev tells her that Angar's family is strong and together since they do not have woman among them. He says that a woman is a sure fire way to divide the family. Angar tells Milind that he is not willing to forget the past and will only be at peace when Laxmi and her 2 sons who killed Parvati, are dead. Anjali is Laxmi's granddaughter. Jai humiliates Anjali when she returns to Uday Pratap Law College after her failed engagement. Anjali returns home livid with anger and rage. Suraj, Pratap and Veer want to avenge Anjali's honor by attacking Angar's home. Laxmi convinces Anjali to trick Jai into falling in love with her to cause a rift in the family. Jai meets with Anjali, who openly admits that she is attracted to him. Jai, at first rejects her and is even hostile to her, then decides to teach her and her family a lesson. Lucky makes Jai realize that pretending to be in love with Anjali would be a great way to humiliate her family. Both feign their love for each other. Veer comes to college and finds Anjali with Jai. He proceeds to beat up Jai, when Anjali intervenes and explains that she is doing this on Laxmi's bidding. Jai's brothers find out about the fight and come to college. They want to know who hit Jai and find that it was Veer. Jai manages to convince them that he will deal with the situation in his own way. Subsequently Anjali admits that she wanted to come close to Jai to extract vengeance, as well as Jai admitting his agenda. Both go their separate ways but find that they are indeed in love with each other. Lucky tells Jai to marry Anjali and to run with her to Dubai. Anjali leaves college as she does not want to admit her feelings to Jai, but Jai follows her to her village Anpara and meets her inside her house by hoodwinking her family. They both agree that they love each other and want to get married. In order to get wed, Jai must first convince his elder brothers to get married albeit in vain as none of them even want to consider this option. Then Lucky, Jai's friend, finds out that Kishan, a seemingly celibate Bhagwan Hanuman's devotee, is leading a dual life as Murari, who has been married to a woman, Gopi (Farha Naaz), from Gangapur, for 7 years and has two children, a son and a daughter. When Angar finds out he kicks Kishan and Jai out of his house. A marriage is finalized with Laxmi's Advocate Namdev Mishra's (Manoj Joshi) son Dr. Satyendra "Sattu" Mishra (Sharad Kelkar) for Anjali, but after Jai and Anjali acknowledge their love for each other to her family, Pratap and Surajbhan approach Angar to help them stop Jai from disrupting this marriage on one hand, while Laxmi tells Jai to marry Anjali - setting off confrontations between the estranged sons and father. Jai, Kishan and his wife Gopi, and Lucky sneak into the wedding festival with the help of Anjali's uncle Veeru/Veer (Suniel Shetty). Jai is dressed as the bridegroom and successfully completes the wedding ceremony. Once Laxmi recognizes Jai in disguise, she confronts Angar to cut his own son's throat. Jai tells his father he won't go through with the wedding without his approval. Balram the oldest of the brothers finally tells Jai to place the wedding necklace on Anjali's neck which finalizes the wedding. The necklace is grabbed from Jai's hands and a race goes throughout the wedding hall chasing Jai to stop him, but in the end, Jai succeeds, and the marriage is completed. Anjali asks her grandmother to stop the feud their families and Jai asks his father for forgiveness. Angar leaves the wedding and contemplates all his son's actions on the way home. Ishaan hits Gautam in his nuts when he is released from solitary. at Home, Chandrika's husband Suri, gets wind of the documentary she is making and insults her by saying that she is sleeping with the prisoners. Chandrika douses Suri with kerosene at night when he is sleeping, and threatens to light him up one night, if he does not grant her a divorce quickly. Next day Chandrika asks Ishaan 3rd time if he feels remorse. Ishaan says he knows he made a mistake but wants to be a free man. Chandrika says she has fallen in love with him and wants to help him escape (she gets him a small O2 cylinder). Meanwhile Mohan's deputy finds through his informer that Ishaan has a plan to escape. A search of Ishaan's belonging reveals that he has a map of the prison. He questions the guard on the cell and finds that Ishaan has bribed him to skip his name during roll call on republic day. The deputy allows the plan to go ahead and waits for Ishaan on the exit point from the prison at the nearby lake. However, Ishaan escapes in the food prepared by Jaggu (using the O2 cylinder for breathing), when it is loaded onto the truck to be taken for consumers outside the prison. He meets Chandrika at her house, at a predetermined date and time. He knows Chandrika that she doesn't love him and asks for the real story. Turns out Chandrika was the sister of the woman Ishaan shot that day at the bank. Chandrika takes Ishaan back to the prison at gunpoint, just in time to stop Jaggu's hanging. Ishaan tells Mohan that he escaped the bank after killing Chandrika's sister. On a road crossing, he pushed Nagya's wife and caused her death. He then went to Jaggu's house as he was man whom his wife was cheating with. Ishaan killed Jaggu's wife by throwing her down the stairs when she refused to run away with him. Jaggu came home and stabbed an already dead woman and blamed himself for her death. Jaggu and Nagya are released. Chandrika gives the money stolen by Ishaan to Mohan so he can continue his prisoner reforms system. Chandrika forgives Ishaan by saying that saving 2 lives was just payment in exchange of her sister and her kids death.

However, after the formation of the state of Bangladesh in 1971, he and several other people were forced to re-locate to the western part of Pakistan. To do this by land, they will have to cross India. The route from Dhaka leads to Guwahati in India then to Delhi then to Ajmer then to Bhuj, and then on to Haji Peer in Pakistan. They get as far as Bhuj, but afterward they are assisted by an agent known only as "Refugee" (Abhishek Bachchan), who helps them trek their way across the Great Rann of Kutch to Pakistan. Makkad (Ashish Vidyarthi) is Refugee's handler and brings clients for him, in exchange for a commission. Refugee considers his clients as mere items of luggage and refuses to be emotionally involved with them and their stories. Then he meets Nazneen Ahmed (Kareena Kapoor), the young daughter of Manzur Ahmed, and he forgets this rule and falls in love with her. Police on both sides of the border are aware of the illegal refugee traffic and the Indian BSF led by Raghuvir Singh regularly questions Refugee and his old father Jaan Muhammad (Anupam Kher) on border crossings. Jaan is married to Amina (Reena Roy). Manzur and his family stay at Jaan's brother Atta Mohammad's (Avtar Gill) place on the other side of the border. Pakistani rangers led by Ashraf search Atta's house, who tells Ashraf that Manzur and his family have come from another village for Naaz's marriage. Tausif (Mukesh Tiwari) is Ashraf's lieutenant. Manzur's mother dies due to the strain of the crossing. Tausif has his eye on Naaz's younger sister Salma, but Ashraf stops him and asks him to leave the family alone. Refugee crosses the border regularly to see Naaz. The journey to Pakistan changes the course of Refugee's life -- he falls in love with the pretty Naaz. The girl too reciprocates his feelings. Naaz wants to create a home with Refugee in Pakistan. But the lovers face an uphill task, for: (i) Naaz is now settled in Pakistan, while he stays in India. (ii) The head of the security keeping a strict vigil on the border of Pakistan. Ashraf (Sunil Shetty), a Pakistani, falls for the innocent charms of Naaz and wants to marry her. Naaz's family agrees to this match, not realizing that their daughter's heart yearns for Refugee. (iii) The Border Security Force in India has learned of the illegal activities of Refugee and wants to take him to task. Shadab is the one who is passing information to the BSF rangers, in exchange for money. On one crossing, Raghuvir manages to spot Refugee crossing the border and shoots him in the leg, but Refugee escapes by hiding in a hole in the ground, covered by foliage. On the Indian side, Refugee is cared for by Sikh priest (Puneet Issar), who hides him in a cave. Refugee crosses the border once again to visit Nazneen Ahmed. Due to a miscommunication, Naaz believes that her parents have agreed to her marriage to Refugee, while they had suggested her wedding with Ashraf. One day, Refugee assists four men (led by Gul Hamid (Sudesh Berry)) to enter the Indian side of the border. These men then enlist the help of Mr. Muhammad's other son Shadab (Shadaab Khan) to get to Delhi. Shadab is addicted to gambling and liquor and does all illegal things to fund his expensive tastes. Shortly thereafter, explosions take place in trains, buses, and buildings in the Indian capital. Shadab returns home with Rs 1 Lakh in cash, which he was given to place a bomb in train. Jaan throws Shadab out of the house for betraying the nation. After the blasts, villages on both sides are rounded up. Tausif wants to arrest Munzir for being an illegal immigrant, but Ashraf stops him. Tausif informs Ashraf that he is willing to break the law for Naaz, who has already slept with someone else. Naaz also affirms that she has only ever loved Refugee. Refugee crosses the border again and meets Naaz. Naaz requests Refugee to take her with him since her father wants to marry her to Ashraf. Munzir informs Ashraf that Naaz is crossing the border with Refugee. While crossing the border through Rann they are captured by Pakistanis rangers. Refugee is beaten up and sent to India on a camel. Ashraf leaves to return Naaz home, while Tausif beats up Refugee mercilessly before sending him back on a camel. Tausif tells Naaz that Ashraf was the one who broke Refugee before returning him to India. Naaz confronts Ashraf for torturing Refugee before sending him back to India. In retaliation, Ashraf confronts Tausif, and kills him after a brutal battle. The Indian BSF led by Raghuvir Singh (Jackie Shroff) captures him and treats him in hospital. The Indians informs him that he unknowingly helped terrorists cross into India and caused several deaths. Refugee confronts his father Jaan, who confirms Refugee's involvement in helping terrorists to cross the border. Refugee joins the BSF and fights the terrorists who laid siege to his village. The terrorists led by Gul Hamid plan to capture the village and assimilate in Pakistan. Jaan resists the terrorists and his own brother Atta who was supporting the terrorists. Atta shoots Jaan and he dies, but due to Jaan's death, the villagers refuse to support the terrorists. Shadab escapes the village to inform the BSF but is shot dead as well. Refugee leads the attack on the village and kills both Atta and Gul Hamid. Naaz tries to cross the border several times but is captured by the Pakistani Rangers. Ashraf agrees to take Naaz to the Haji Peer Mela, which is an event celebrated jointly by Muslim families on both sides of the border. The event is attended by both BSF and the Pakistani Rangers. Naaz runs into Refugee at the event, and Ashraf brings a priest to get them married. Raghuvir allows Refugee to bring Naaz to India, but she is heavily pregnant and goes into labor at the border crossing. The film ends with Nazneen Ahmed giving birth to Refugee's child at the border between the two nations. Indian and Pakistani BSF officers discuss the child's nationality in a lighter vein.

The conspirators make a fool of Raju, as a result of which he causes the police to raid Gajendra's house, on the allegation that the house is being used as a brothel. During the police raid, Raju is horrified to find that the 'customer' found in Vaishali's company is none other than his brother-in-law. Thakur is also angered to find that the person who has caused him this infamy and police entanglement is none other than Raju. In order to avoid legal proceedings, Thakur tells the police that he is present in the house in order to discuss the possibility of marrying Vaishali, the reason being that his wife has remained childless. Raju falls at Thakur's feet, begs forgiveness, and pleads with him not to take a second wife. His pleas fall on deaf ears; Thakur duly marries Vaishali and takes her home. Raju tells his parents of what has happened, of how Pooja now has a co-wife. They come to Thakur's mansion and create a scene. Annoyed at the commotion, Thakur tells Pooja to make her choice once and for all: she can either accept Vaishali as her co-wife and remain in his household with the respectability of being the senior wife, or depart with her parents for good. Pooja chooses to remain with her husband and co-wife, for as she says, that is her wifely duty; her husband's house is the only suitable residence for a married woman. Raju, who has lived in Thakur's household for many years, now goes away with his parents. These events cause a great rift between the two families, because of which the two lovers (Raju and Jyoti) are separated. Vaishali is ensconced in the Thakur's mansion, and her brother becomes Thakur's confidant. He now wants to marry Thakur's sister, Jyoti, so that he and his sister Vaishali will totally control the vast wealth of the Thakur family. A naive Thakur is taken in by his new brother-in-law's seeming decency, and it is arranged that Gajendra will marry Jyoti. However, Jyoti bravely refuses to marry anyone except Raju. She is supported by Pooja, who makes the point that it would be wrong and even sinful for Jyoti to marry one man while being in love with another; chasteness of the mind is as important as chasteness of the body. Thakur decides to delay the matter for the time being. Gajendra is aghast at this and makes a plan to abduct Jyoti so that afterward she will have no choice but to marry him. He reveals his plan to his sister and asks her to help him, but Vaishali has undergone a personality change after her marriage. She now wants to be a respectable woman and is extremely grateful to Thakur for having given her the chance to reform. She berates and opposes her brother, and makes it clear that she will inform her husband. Gajendra feels betrayed by his sister and sees that she has gained so much (Thakur's wealth, his social standing and the respectability of wife-hood), whereas he, Gajendra, has, in fact, lost his only source of income, which was the money from his sister's song-and-dance performances. In a fit of rage, he plunges a knife into Vaishali's stomach and kills her. He then makes an effort to frame Thakur for Vaishali's murder. But Pooja is a witness. Police arrests Thakur, but Raju turns himself by taking the blame. Gajendar tries to marry Pooja but Thakur intervenes. Pooja calls for Raju over temple loudspeaker & Raju comes & fucks everyone up. At Thakur's behest, Raju dispatches the villains, rescues Jyoti and protects Thakur's honor, gamely taking a bullet in the shoulder during the Big Fight. He survives to dance another song, and Thakur, now reconciled with his beloved and loyal Raju, gives Jyoti in marriage to him. Pooja testifies to police against Gajendar. Raju wont sleep with Jyothi, so Thakur tells him to (Jo Jeejaji Bolenge Mein Karoonga)

To save his skin, Jugran kills his twin brother Manmohan (Jugran had hid at Manmohan's house, but Manmohan tried to inform the police) and takes his identity. The world is led to believe that Jugran is still on the run. Jugran kills Mr. Verma and Dr. Ashok (the guy who helped hide the diamonds in the plaster of his hand to help smuggle them across customs), destroying both their families in process. While Verma's orphaned sons Ramesh (Anil Kapoor) and Ravi (Jackie Shroff) are separated from each other, Dr. Ashok's daughter Seema (Sridevi) is left with her distraught mother, who has lost her sanity. Before dying Mr. Verma identified his killer as Jugran to the police. Uncle D'Souza (Akash Khurana) of Seema, had seen the killer entering Dr Ashok's office just before he entered his clinic and hence could identify the killer in a line-up. Ravi was brought up by his mother, while Ramesh found his way to an orphanage. Seema/Simmi is at the same orphanage. Seema and Ramesh become good friends, but Seema is adopted while she is a child and is separated from Ramesh. Ramesh loves Simmi and runs from the orphanage. He is found by Girdharilal on the streets, and is given a new name, Romeo. Romeo is now working for Seth Girdharilal (Paresh Rawal), who mentors many thieves and thugs like him. Many years later, Jugran has become a big name in the criminal underworld. He lives a double life, acting also as his twin brother Manmohan, who is highly respected in society. Ravi Verma, meanwhile, has become an Inspector and Ramesh has become a crook - a safe-cracker by the name of Romeo. The brothers are unaware of each other's identities, but there is one things that binds them together: one has a lock, the other has the only key that can open the lock. Seema too has become a crook, called Simmi, and her path starts crossing with Romeo's. Seema steals diamonds as she wants to find the man who killed her father for the sake of diamonds. They both want to steal the necklace from Maharani Yashudhara Devi (Bindu). Ravi is tasked by his commanding officers to find and apprehend the jewel thief. Seema manages to steal the necklace first but is trapped when Ravi seals the exits from the party. Romeo helps her out by getting the necklace out via his pet pigeon. But later, when Seema wants 50-50 share, he refuses. Seema tries to outfox Ramesh by creating a public ruckus that she is his wife, and he is selling her last jewels. Ramesh outfoxes her by saying that she has not consummated their marriage even after 2 years. Seema runs away. She gets one up on Ramesh by stealing a jeweled statue which Ramesh wanted to steal. Only Ravi knows that Jugran killed his father. One day Seema runs into "Manmohan" and realizes that it was he who had killed her father. Jugran himself needs somebody to pull a Rs 100 Crore robbery (a train with Rs 100 Crores of diamonds travels from Kohinoor diamonds company, and on its way to Bombay it passes through an isolated stretch for 15 mins. Jugran plans to stage a robbery then). Seema meets "Manmohan", when she hides in his car after she is running away from some creditors. While reciting her life story, "Manmohan" realizes that she is Dr Ashok's daughter. Next, He meets Seema (as Jugran) and tells her that he will need her help to involve Romeo in the operation. Simmi hesitates, until Jugran reveals that he knows the identity of her father's murderer. She meets Romeo and tries to seduce him, but Romeo berates her. Simmi reveals her story to him. Romeo is surprised to see Simmi's mother, since it means that Simmi is actually his childhood sweetheart Seema. Now he reveals his true identity to Seema, and the two pair up. Jugran tells them that first they need to open the safe of the GM of the Kohinoor diamond company as only there they can find when the diamond train is scheduled to travel next month. Ramesh cracks the safe while Seema keeps the audience engaged with her dance at the GM's party. Jugran kidnaps the family of D'Souza, whom Seema is in touch with, to ensure that even by mistake D'Souza does not identify Manmohan/Jugran as her father's killer. Later Jugran gets D'Souza killed in a car accident. Meanwhile, Ravi too gets an inkling that Jugran is planning something big with help of Simmi and Romeo. Ravi and Romeo run into each other, only for Romeo to learn that they are brothers (Ravi had the lock to which Romeo had the key). But he doesn't reveal this to Ravi, since Ravi is a policeman and against criminals. Romeo refuses to loot the train (his pet pigeon scratches Jugran's hand and stop him from shooting at Romeo) but is forced to support Seema. Meanwhile Girdharilal gets annoyed that Ramesh is stealing for someone else and informs police/Ravi. Ramesh steals the diamonds, but Ravi attacks. Jugran's men also attack Ramesh, but he evades them and reunites with Seema. They are confronted by Girdharilal, who wants the diamonds, but Jugran's men kill him. Simmi and Romeo finally succeed in turning over the loot to Jugran. After they do this, he binds and gags them after telling Simmi the truth, leaving the pair to die by falling into a container of boiling acid (they are tied up by a rope, which is slowly dissolved by acid). They are saved by Romeo's pet pigeon who manages to throw a ladder in their way which they catch when they fall into the well of acid. . Romeo and Simmi escape, but they get separated from each other. Romeo runs into Ravi, whereupon the latter tries to arrest him. After Romeo tells him the truth, an enraged Ravi reveals to Ramesh that Jugran killed their father too. Ramesh escapes and rejoins Simmi. When he sees "Manmohan" on TV, Ramesh tells Seema that Manmohan and Jugran are the same person. They head to a party that Manmohan is attending. Meanwhile, Ravi gets a tip-off, upon which he turns up at a party almost simultaneously with Ramesh and Seema. Ramesh reveals that when his pigeon perched on Jugran's left hand it left claw marks, just as seen on Manmohan's left hand. Therefore, Manmohan and Jugran are same person. Ravi scoffs at the claim and tells them that Manmohan's fingerprints are available, and it won't be difficult to find out that Manmohan and Jugran are indeed two different people. Seeing that his charade is about to come to an abrupt end, Jugran tries to run away. It is revealed that Ramesh had given the tip-off about Jugran to Ravi. Jugran succeeds in escaping, while his men try to kill Ravi, Ramesh and Seema. The three manage to fight their way to Jugran, who himself tries to shoot them. The trio quickly retaliate, killing him on spot.

Anil has returned home after many yrs of studies. Ashok is out of town on business and Anil throws a party to celebrate. But Ashok returns unexpectedly and yells at Anil for wasting time and money on parties as he does not like it. The next day he yells at Suneeta for being few minutes late for breakfast as she was preparing the Thali for Rakhi. Anil loves Kavita, who is a poor girl. One day Ashok sees Anil with Kavita and is livid. That night Ashok confronts Anil and says that Kavita is only after Anil for Ashok's wealth. Anil tells Ashok that he or Kavita do not care for his wealth. Anil goes against his brother's highhanded ways and marries Kavita (Nagma), a poor girl and opting to leave the house. Fenni Fernando (Anu Agarwal) is Ashok's secretary in office. Ashok gets his sister Suneeta married to a man who turns out to be a gold digger Pradeep Mallik (Dalip Tahil), although she is in love with Ashok's manager Kamal (Vivek Vaswani) (neither had the courage to go against Ashok and admit their feelings for each other). Pradeep was guided by Mr. Mallik (Bharat Kapoor), Pradeep's brother and his wife (Madhu Malhotra). They send Jairam (Viju Khote), as Marriage Mediator of Sunita and Pradeep. The wedding takes place in double quick time and Anil is not invited to it. Ashok travels to Ranigarh for a new auto-parts plant. There an orphan named Munna makes fun of him and the way he walks (while he was out touring the town). Munna lives in an orphanage under the eyes of evil caretaker Shanti (Sushmita Mukherjee). Pratap (Paresh Rawal) is Shanti's boyfriend and also runs a car theft business in town. Shanti uses the orphanage money to fund her drinking binges. Ashok finds out where Munna lives and visits the orphanage to take revenge. At the time, some journalists are visiting the orphanage. Kamal suggests Ashok should donate, but Munna advises Ashok not to donate too much as Shanti will spend it on her drinks. Ashok gives her rs 50, which makes her angry. That evening Shanti thrashes Munna badly, who has no option but to escape and who decides to hide in Ashok's car and leave for town with him. Munna (Pooja Ruparel), an orphan arrives at Ashok Bansal's house. Initially the servants think Munna is a boy and are ordered to give him a bath, but they find Munna has long hair and that she is a girl. Fenni is summoned to give Munna a bath and to get her ready. Ashok has to allow her to stay for a few days as his sudden appearance at the orphanage has done wonders for his PR and sending her back will create negative press. She creates havoc in Ashok's home (She forces Ashok to spend time with her and Fenni (who is Munna's caretaker), watch movies and so on). Meanwhile Shanti figures out that Munna is living with Ashok and calls him to threaten that he has "stolen" Munna from the orphanage and she will go to the press with this. Ashok decides to take Munna back to the Orphanage, but his car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Ashok, Fenni and Munna are forced to take a lift in a truck. They are dropped 20 Kms from Ranigarh. They are forced to spend the night in an abandoned cottage. Fenni manages to forage some food from the local area, but Ashok refuses to touch it. The situation leads to many amorous encounters between Fenni and Ashok (including Ashok seeing Fenni completely naked). Ashok returns Munna to the orphanage the next day. Munna says that she left on her own choice, and forces Shanti to take the lawsuit back, causing a loss of millions. Ashok is happy now but misses Munna terribly. He shares with Fenni the reason why he hates the word "love" so much in his life. On the way back, a trashed Munna again blocks his car, and this time Ashok hugs Munna and brings her back with him to his estate. Ashok is much more relaxed now and values love in his life. He trims his mustache and dresses more informally. Fenni is shocked at his transformation. At her birthday, Ashok gets drunk and openly admits her love for Fenni. Meanwhile Suneeta is in hell as Pradeep sleeps with other women in front of her. Ashok misses Anil and puts out an ad in the newspaper calling him back. as luck would have it, Anil works in an auto garage owned by Pratap. Anil tells Pratap that Ashok is not his brother. On Rakhi, Ashok goes to meet Suneeta. Ashok meets Anil there. Ashok begs for forgiveness to Anil, but Anil refuses to forgive Ashok as he has done a grave injustice to Suneeta by marrying her to Pradeep, as she is treated like a servant in the house and beaten badly. Ashok beats up Pradeep black and blue and brings Suneeta home. Ashok forces Pradeep to sign the divorce papers by threatening to reveal his tax frauds and other thefts with the Govt. Ashok unites Suneeta to Kamal. Meanwhile Anil finds out that Pratap is dealing in stolen cars. As Pratap decides to kill Anil, Ashok intervenes to save him. Pratap is defeated and escapes. Shanti finds Munna is at Ashok's house. Ashok has sent an application to adopt Munna. Anil and Kavita return home. Shanti meets Ashok at his house and says Munna parents have resurfaced and want her back. Shanti offers to buy off the parents for Rs 25 Lakhs, but Ashok now senses that Shanti wants the money for herself and refuses to pay. Ashok puts a notice out in all newspapers that he is adopting Munna. Pratap and Shanti find a piece of locket in the storeroom, that Munna carries in her neck. This would be conclusive proof that whoever carries that piece is her parents. The orphanage kids hear this plan of Pratap to kill Munna after they get the money from Ashok. Pratap and Shanti disguise themselves and reach Ashok as Munna's parents. They say Munna was lost is a carnival many years ago. The piece matches and Ashok sends Munna away with them and Rs 50 Lakhs. The orphans meanwhile go to the police and ask the inspector to call and warn Ashok. The orphans tell Ashok about Shanti and Pratap's plan. Munna escapes and hides in the carnival. She had hidden the money suitcase. Ashok reaches on time and gives Pratap the money, and he wants Munna back. Anil attacks and together they both rescue Munna, while Pratap and Shanti are killed.

However, Kamal, his son, grows up to be an honourable police officer and is disappointed to learn about his father's crimes. In modern secular India corruption, nepotism, caste, and favoritism has taken root all the way from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, sparing no one in it's wake. Bombay Municipal Corporation's employee Kimtilal is one such person who had to pay a bribe to a gynecologist so that his wife, Shanti, can give premature birth to their son, Kamal. When Kamal grew up, Kimtilal had to pay another bribe in the form of a donation to a school for admitting him. Then he had to pay another bribe so that his son could successfully pass his college examination, and go on to join the Bombay Police Force. Finally, he withheld an important municipal license for businessman Sampat, in order to get his consent to marry his advocate daughter, Kamini, with his son. Kimtilal's story does not end here for he goes on taking bribes after bribes and it has now become a part of his life. Then a building that was supposed to have been built with only six stories is illegally constructed with ten, collapses leading to hundreds of casualties. When Kamal finds out about his father's involvement he is ashamed, arrests his father, and has him tried in Court. Kimtilal has only the following advise for his son. "When a honest man is tried in Court, he may get the maximum sentence possible, no one will come to his aid, but when a dishonest man is tried, he will have several supporters and never even be found guilty". By the looks of things it looks like Kimtilal may go scot-free and carry on with taking bribes without anyone to stop him. —rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)
