Sweety's brother agreed to the marriage for as his mother says, brothers are those who sacrifice everything for their sister's happiness. He has no alternative and marries Sweety. So, during the day Sher Singh stays with Sweety and at night Shekhar stays with Nisha. One day both of them meet Sher Singh and tell him that he cannot go till Shekhar arrives! Sher Singh scoffs at this, and only wants to get married to Bombay-based Marathi-speaking beauty, Nisha. Then Sher gets summoned to his hometown in Punjab, where his disabled sister is getting married to a young man named Harpreet. Upon arrival, Sher is told that Harpreet is only marrying his sister on the condition that he marry his sister, Sweety. Unable to refuse, Sher gets married to Sweety, spends several nights with her and returns to Bombay and is told that Nisha is getting married to Vicky Chopra without her consent. Sher gallantly steps in and marries Nisha. Sweety and his mom re-locate to Bombay and Sher leads a double life with his wives. Nisha and Sweety both get pregnant and give birth to two look-alike sons, Tuktuk, and Tony. When the children grow up, they find out that their dad is deceiving them, and matters come to a head where Sher actually admits that he did commit bigamy - only to be confronted with a real look-alike of his - who claims to be Nisha's husband. Three young drug addicts also board the train and seeing her alone, they rape her in front of three passengers who seem afraid and helpless to come to her aid. Shruti is brought in an unconscious state to the hospital by the police. She breathes her last in front of her aggrieved parents. The city is shocked by this untoward incident. The case is handed over to Kripa Shankar Thakur [Manoj Bajpai], an upright and honest cop from the Crime Branch. While rehearsing for a dance play; Shruti accidentally gets locked in the school and a while later is rescued by the school's watchman who then drop her off at the Bandra rail-way station where she attempt to telephone her mother but gets busy tone. She then boards a Borivali bound local train in the ladies compartment but because of the late hour the train is almost deserted with only an elderly male, a woman and a young girl. Three young drug addicts then enter by locking the windows and door, they gang rape her. The three witnesses are unable to do anything due to the fear of losing their lives. After completing the heinous act; the assailants leave the train at Malad Railway station. When the train reaches Borivali; the male in the compartment makes an anonymous call to the police who arrive on the scene as well as arrange for the girl to be taken to the nearest hospital where she breath her last. When the train reaches Borivali, the male in the compartment makes an anonymous call to the police, who then arrive on the scene. When the news is revealed in the media, there is an uproar in Mumbai and the suburbs. Normally such matters are handled by the Railway Police, but taking account the publicity generated by this crime, the Mumbai Crime Branch and Inspector Krupa Shankar Thakur decide to get involved. Kishan is often mistaken for Gopinath and very often impersonates him. Gopinath's duties take him to question Choudhury (Suresh Oberoi), who he knows is his biological father. His mom, Geeta (Aruna Irani) also knows of this, but prefer to keep this secret to themselves. Choudhury and his henchmen, including Sawant (Mohan Joshi), are irritated by Gopinath's interference in their criminal activities, and abduct Tinku, thinking that they have kidnapped Gopinath's son.
