From the village folk to the corrupt cop to the impish goon-Devki finds himself cared for and aided even while he feels entrenched in a `Na Ghar ke Na Ghaat Ke` state of affairs. The film thus depicts the everyday struggle of common man in a `rural meets urban` set-up.

Since Chobey owes money to a gangster named Moscow Chikna, Raja decides to help him out by arranging the abduction of Rocky, a jewel thief, who has a priceless diamond in his possession. If Raja and his gang do not bring this diamond to Moscow Chikna, he has sworn to cut off their arms. When another gangster, JD, finds out about the diamond, he asks them to bring the diamond to him or else he will cut off their legs. The trio abduct Rocky - only to be threatened by a London-based gangster, Chokshi, who has recruited Gunmaster G9, who has threatened to cut off their respective necks if the diamond is not surrendered to Chokshi. Chaos prevails as the hapless trio, their lives complicated by the bumbling Kuttu Pilot, hustle to save their lives - in vain attempts to try and pacify the three gangsters.

Jeetu (Shahid Kapoor) is a down-on-his-luck boy who loses money in whatever business he invests in. His debt keeps increasing. The biggest creditor to Jeetu is Sharmaji (Asrani). In total, Jeetu owes Rs 13 Lakhs 90 thousand to his creditors. He had borrowed money, to buy land and to plant mango saplings, but the land was acquired by the government to lay down a railway track. Due to his huge debts, his father Jai Dev (Anupam Kher), mother (Amita Nangia) and everyone else are worried about him. Jai Dev had already mortgaged his house to pay for Jeetu's failed business ventures. Frustrated, Jeetu breaks off his engagement to Pooja (Sushma Reddy). Pooja's father is Mohan Prakash (Manoj Joshi). Mohan hates Jeetu as he is good for nothing, but knows that Pooja is madly in love with Jeetu, and wont consider marrying anyone else till Jeetu is around. Jeetu decides to commit suicide so that his father can pay off all the debt with the insurance money after her death. Jeetu calls all the people from whom he has taken loan to the riverbank and after telling this, he jumps into the water. Even after people search extensively, his body is not found. Swimmers say that due to high water flow the body might have gone far away. Fishermen Gundiya (Paresh Rawal) and Bandya (Rajpal Yadav) find a man (who is actually Jeetu) in the net. They take him to the hospital and there they start thinking of Jeetu as dumb and deaf. Jeetu also starts doing similar drama. Jeetu had the list of creditors in his pocket, and the money he owed them, but Gundiya misunderstands that believes that Jeetu is a creditor and has to receive that amount of money from his debtors. Gundiya and Bandya hope to get Rs 5 Lakhs as reward for returning Jeetu to his family. Due to Jeetu's drama, Gundiya has no clue of his name or identity and hence cannot claim his reward. Meanwhile the police force Gundiya to take care of Jeetu till his identity is ascertained. Gundiya is worried about all the expenses he is incurring on Jeetu. Gundiya owes money to rich boat owner Prabhat. Prabhat Singh Chauhan (Om Puri) takes Gundiya's boat due to not getting his money. When Gundiya comes to him asking for the boat back, Prabhat Singh Chauhan asks him to give him something to keep as a guarantee. He gives Jeetu and Bandya as guarantee and goes away with the boat. Gundiya tells Prabhat that Jeetu is his nephew Kanhaiya. Natwar Jhunjhunwala (Shakti Kapoor) is Prabhat's manager. Both of them are made to work there as servants at Prabhat's house. Mangal (Suniel Shetty) is the head of the family, even though he is the son of Prabhat's elder brother. Shruti is Mangal's sister. Shruti is dumb and is hence sympathetic towards Jeetu. Meenakshi is Prabhat's daughter and they all live in the same house as a joint family. One day Meenakshi (Neha Dhupia) and Shruti (Kareena Kapoor) discover that Jeetu is not dumb and deaf. Instead of keeping his secret a secret, they want to do something else. Shruti's marriage is arranged in a house which is only greedy for money. The boy's family has for 2 companies and a lot of land as dowry in exchange for marriage with Shruti. To break this marriage, Meenakshi asks Jeetu to pretend to be Shruti's lover and call her fiance, due to which the wedding proposal breaks. Mangal suspects Jeetu of sabotaging the proposal and beats him senseless. But Prabhat intervenes and tells Mangal that even Jeetu is deaf and dumb and hence could not have called the boy's family. Mangal gives Jeetu a job for Rs 20,000 per month. Meenakshi wants Jeetu to leave the house, but Jeetu also refuses and says that he will reveal that Meenakshi was behind the plot to break Shruti's wedding. One day, Sharma comes to meet Prabhat and Meenakshi sees Jeetu hiding from him. Meenakshi learns that Jeetu has a lot of debt and can do anything for money. Meenakshi gets Jeetu's photo from Sharma and realizes that this is the same Kanhaiya who has been living in their house. Before Meenakshi can say anything to Prabhat, Jeetu and Prabhat go by car with a lot of money and meet with a road accident. Due to both of them not returning, they feel as if Jeetu has done something. On Meenakshi's request, the police catch Jeetu and beat him thoroughly. Prabhat returns home and tells that his car met with an accident, after which Jeetu took him to the hospital and after giving the money to the person to whom he was supposed to pay, he went to get the medicine, but did not return. Knowing this they all feel regretful. Meenakshi and Shruti know that Prabhat has been stealing money from Mangal to run his own businesses which are all making losses. In fact, the money that Sharma loaned Jeetu, belonged to Prabhat. They threaten to reveal the truth to Mangal and Prabhat is very afraid of Mangal. Meenakshi and Shruti force Prabhat to give them Rs 13.9 Lakhs and send the money to Jeetu's village through the hands of Bandya. When Bandya meets Mohan, he realizes that Kanhaiya is really Jeetu and is neither deaf nor dumb. Bandya comes and tells that Pooja has got married, hearing which Jeetu becomes happy. Jeetu still won't go back to the village as he knows that Pooja only married someone else believing the Jeetu is dead. Seeing him alive would make Pooja feel very guilty. But in reality, Pooja was living with Jai Dev as Jeetu's widow. Meanwhile, Shruti expresses her love to Jeetu. Mangal learns that Shruti is in love with Jeetu and decides to get them married. Jeetu, now free from debt and in love with Shruti, agrees to the marriage. Jeetu reveals to Mangal that he is not deaf or dumb and assures him that Shruti knew of his reality, and he never betrayed her trust. Meanwhile, Jeetu's family members come to know that Jeetu is alive, when Mangal sends them money via Bandya and Gundiya. Jai Dev goes to meet Jeetu on the day of the wedding, and Jeetu is shocked to learn that Pooja never married anyone else and is living as his widow. He cannot explain anything to Jai Dev as Prabhat pulls him inside the house. Later, Jeetu explains everything to Shruti and goes home to get Pooja's permission to marry Shruti. The family wants Jeetu to accept Pooja, but he is helpless. Jai Dev and Mohan come to the wedding ceremony, and everyone starts arguing. When Pooja learns that Shruti cannot speak, she changes her mind and asks Jeetu to marry Shruti. After this, Jeetu and Shruti get married, and they live happily ever after.

There is also a fifth admirer of Natasha namely Sunny Khurana, also from her college days in Bombay, who will do anything to get married to her. Raj (Abhishek Bachchan) is a happy and free-spirited Indian-American bachelor living with his mother Dr. Spocks Malhotra (Suhasini Mulay). Raj visits his ancestral homeland in Mumbai, to attend his cousin Nikki's (Meghna Malik) wedding. Nikki has sisters Pooja (Jennifer Winget) & Aria (Zoya Afroz). Raj was forced to attend due to his mom being busy with her patients, who require critical attention. Dr. Malhotra laments to her brother, Rakesh (Nikki's father), that Raj is out of her control. Rakesh promises that if she sends Raj to India, he will find a suitable match for him. Dr. Malhotra argues with Raj that he is the only cousin brother in the family and hence his presence is needed at her engagement, with Dr. Malhotra promising to come for the wedding. Raj knows that Rakesh will try to fix him up with a girl and says that he loves his freedom too much. Nikki calls Raj and says that she does not want to get married, and she is being forced. She says that only Raj can stand up to Rakesh. At the airport, Raj finds that he was a late show, and his seat was assigned to another lady. Raj lies to the lady that he has a 3-year-old son who has a rare heart disease and its imperative that he gets on the flight. The lady takes sympathy on Raj and gives her seat to Raj, taking the next available flight. Once in India, Raj narrates a story to Rakesh that Nikki's fiance Ajay is gay and has a boyfriend in the US, and he is leaving him to marry Nikki. Ajay still loves the boyfriend, but did not have the courage to speak to his parents about him and hence is being forced to marry Nikki. Rakesh is now convinced that Nikki cannot marry Ajay. He reaches home to call off the wedding. Nikki is shocked and tells Raj that she loves Ajay. Raj is forced to admit the truth to Rakesh and apologizes to Ajay, who is a really nice guy. Raj finds himself pushed towards marriage by his overzealous uncle Rakesh Sharma (Satish Shah) who is also Nikki's father. His uncle's employee, Namrata (Aishwarya Rai) chaperons Raj on a series of set-ups/dates, all of which he deliberately sabotages. Turns out Namrata was the lady whom Raj lied to at the airport. She was in the US to bring back some dresses for Nikki. And due to Raj's antics, she got late returning to India and arrived just before the engagement with the dresses and jewelry that Nikki wanted to wear on the occasion. Naturally Namrata is taken aback when she realizes that Raj told her a blatant lie just for an airline seat. Still Namrata is forced to spend time with Raj as Rakesh has promised her a promotion if Raj gets married during his trip to India. Raj says that he is uncomfortable meeting the women in a family setting and Namrata convinces Rakesh that the meetings could be private. The first girl is Rachna (Divya Palat), whom Raj meets in a temple and says that he believes in re-incarnation. He says that in their previous life, they had a kid, and they died when they fell off a mountain in Kedarnath. She was named Savitri back then. Raj claims that Savitri's body was found 3 days later, and he never re-married. Rachna gets really spooked by this story and runs away. The next girl is Poonam (Gautami Kapoor), who he meets at a club. Poonam breaks down when her ex Vikram (Eijaz Khan) enters the club. Raj and Namrata help Poonam get back together with her ex. During the course of the wedding ceremonies, Raj discovers that he is falling for Namrata. After some deliberation, he decides to tell her, but to his surprise, he discovers she has a 7-year-old son, Aditya (Master Parth Dave). Raj is confused but forms a strong fatherly relationship with Aditya. Raj's uncle informs him that Namrata's husband Sanjeev (Arbaaz Khan) disappeared right before Aditya's birth and has never returned to his son or wife. Finding a letter that Raj had written confessing his feelings, Namrata gets upset thinking Raj tried to use her son to get close to her. She attempts to distance herself from him, but a stubborn Raj follows her to Aditya's boarding school with Principal Ms. Loccolith Lobo (Tannaz Irani), having promised the boy to pose as his father. Raj helps Aditya look good in front of his friends and protects his self-confidence. On being prodded by Raj, she tells him that her husband Sanjeev left her for another woman while she was pregnant. Namrata and Raj begin to bond. After some months, Raj decides to introduce Namrata to his mother. A short while later, he finds out that Sanjeev has returned and is looking to reconcile with Namrata. Namrata is aghast and makes it clear that she does not want anything to do with him. Sanjeev says that he left for US with a girl to make money. But after 4 years the girl left with all the money. Sanjeev then spent the next 3 years working hard and getting himself back up, so he could come back and claim his family back. Sanjeev refuses to leave, becoming stubborn and persistent, threatening her with a lawsuit for custody of Aditya. This puts Namrata on the path of reconciliation with Sanjeev. Raj's family feels Sanjeev has no right on Namrata and Aditya, but the decision belongs to her and her alone. After a chance meeting at a temple, Raj invites Sanjeev to his home for Nikki's wedding. Aditya is present and is affectionate with Raj, calling him "Dad." Sanjeev becomes jealous and angry, insulting Raj and his family. After witnessing Sanjeev's bad behavior towards Raj, Namrata finally gets the courage to stand up to him. She publicly tells him off and also admits that she is in love with Raj. Sanjeev is ashamed and disappears once again warning Raj to not make the mistakes he made with his family. Six months later Raj and Namrata decide to get married and are soon expecting a child.

The story centers on the legacy of a dead Indian underworld don Baba Baldev Prasad (Om Puri), who dies of a heart attack. He has left diamonds worth Rs 1000 Crores at the New York Bank. Baldev's next generation includes his son Vikrant (Rahul Dev), his daughter Preeti (Preeti Jhangiani), and Preeti's husband Guru Gulab Khatri (Akshay Kumar). Vikrant and Preeti are step siblings, as Baldev's children from different mothers. Champaklal (Asrani) is Baldev's lawyer. Baldev himself did not trust Vikrant, but had full faith in Guru. Baldev had left a will in which all his estate was split equally between Vikrant, Preeti, and Guru, which included the diamonds as well. To claim the diamonds, all three benefactors must be present at the bank or, if dead, their death certificates must be presented. If all 3 die, the diamonds will go to Champaklal. And if Champaklal dies, the diamonds will go to an animal welfare trust. Preeti and Guru are married only in name as Baldev got them married. But they do not stay together. Preeti wants to divorce Guru, but he refuses. Shortly after Baldev's death, Vikrant attempts to eliminate Guru by assassinating the Indian home minister in full view of television cameras while disguised as him. Guru flees to the US disguised as someone else to escape prosecution in India. Guru moves to the street where Anmol (Aftab Shivdasani) and his family live. Anmol is married to Mona (Amrita Arora). Anmol is a dentist and his secretary is Tina (Aarti Chabria). Tina is a big fan of mafia dons. Mona is a dominant wife and demands that Anmol does all the housework and also hand over all of his earnings to her. Anmol recognizes Guru from the news as a wanted criminal from India. Guru warns Anmol not to reveal his identity to anyone, especially the police. But Guru likes Anmol and his father-in-law Manilal, and their innocence. Manilal forgets the names of the people around him and also forgets his name too. Manilal cares for Anmol and does not approve of how Mona treats him. Anmol's mother-in-law Paramjeet (Supriya Pilgaonkar) forces him to go to India, along with his father-in-law, Manilal (Paresh Rawal) to tell Vikrant about Guru and get the reward of Rs 2 Crores. Vikrant's goons, Yeda Anna and Chota Chathri, pick up Anmol and Manilal from their India hotel and take them to Vikrant. Anmol sees Preeti and falls in love with her. He is heartbroken to find that Preeti is married to Guru. Everything turns wrong when Vikrant doesn't give the reward and instead sends Anmol and Manilal back to the USA with his hired men, Yeda Anna (Sunil Shetty) and Chota Chathri (Johnny Lever) to kill Guru. Anmol figures out Vikrant's plan and calls Guru from India to warn him. Preeti reaches out to Anmol and says that she wants to divorce Guru in exchange for her share of the diamonds. Anmol admits his feelings to Preeti. Anmol, Manilal, Yeda and Chota return to the US. Later, they find out that Yeda Anna was a double agent: He was working for Guru the whole time because he offered more money. Yeda calls Vikrant, that Anmol's information is correct and asks Vikrant to come to the US. Yeda and Chota are asked to stay with Manilal and Anmol, and they both terrorize their wives who now start respecting their husbands. Yeda and Chota learn that the whole tussle is for diamonds worth Rs 1000 Crores. Yeda is not happy at receiving only Rs 5 Crores from Guru and wants the whole thing. Tina is smitten with Guru and asks Anmol to introduce her to Guru. Tina knows Guru's whole history and Guru is impressed with her. Meanwhile, realizing the Yeda will get the money from Guru, Mona tries to seduce him. The group receive Vikrant and Preeti at the airport and drive to the hotel. At the hotel, Vikrant is kidnapped by a mysterious group of Chinese goons. Yeda Anna receives a phone call and finds out that the kidnapped Vikrant was a duplicate of the real one and the real one was going to come later by a private plane. They kill the second Vikrant (who arrived later by plane) and put his body in a car and leave it by the Brooklyn Bridge. With Vikrant's death, Preeti and Guru each get half of the diamonds. When they are outside the bank, a group of policemen arrest them and take them to an unknown desert area. It is revealed that Vikrant is still alive, as the original Vikrant got himself kidnapped by Chinese goons. Vikrant gets the diamonds and tries to kill Guru. A fight occurs. At the end of the fight, Guru kills Vikrant. When it's all over, the group ask each other to find out who has the diamonds. Anmol has them and says he will give them to Guru if he gives Preeti a divorce. Tina convinces Guru to give the divorce to Preeti. Guru arrives at the location selected by Anmol and gets the diamonds, while giving Anmol the divorce papers. Yeda Anna betrays Guru and tries to steal the diamonds. Guru wins in a fight and gives diamonds worth Rs 5 Crores to Yeda Anna while hanging him to a forklift and having him stand on Chota Chathri's shoulders. In the end, Anmol and his love, Preet, are seen going to India. Anmol's ex-father-in-law gives him some diamonds that he received from Guru as Preeti's share. Preeti comments that she didn't know that Guru was so nice.

Raj Malhotra (Salman Khan) and Priya (Rani Mukerji) are members of high society. Raj is grandson of wealthy industrialist Kailashnath Malhotra. Raj's parents are Ranjit Kumar Malhotra (Dalip Tahil) and Asha (Farida Jalal). Pappu Bhai (Johnny Lever) is the manager of Kailashnath's estate. Pappu has the habit of blinking involuntarily. Dr Balraj Chopra (Prem Chopra) is the family physician. Raj and Priya meet at a wedding, where Raj gets the impression that Priya has a child. In reality the child belonged to Priya's sister-in-law (Sheela Sharma). Kailashnath dearly wants Raj to get married. Priya's sister-in-law reaches out to Kailashnath for a meeting between the families. After a misunderstanding, where Raj understands Priya's sister-in-law to be his prospective bride, all doubts are cleared and the marriage is set. They get married and soon Priya gets pregnant. Soon after, Priya trips, miscarries, and becomes permanently infertile. On the doctor's advice, the couple conceal this fact from their family. Kailash has had 2 heart attacks already and he would not be able to take the strain of another attack. Priya knows how much a child means to the family. Raj says that they will adopt a child while they are abroad, but Priya says that an adopted kid will never look anything like Raj. Priya wants Raj to marry again, but he refuses. Priya convinces Raj to have a child with another woman. They decide to secretly look for a surrogate mother to bear Raj's child. No normal girl would agree to Raj's inquires on the matter. Raj forms a business partnership with Ajay Sharma (Adi Irani), who will market all of Raj's products in Europe. Raj meets Madhubala aka Madhu (Preity Zinta), a prostitute whom he brings to a hotel room. He discusses his situation with Madhu, who agrees to have Raj's baby, for the Rs 10 Lakh compensation offered by Raj. Raj lodges Madhu in a 5-star hotel. But Madhu is very raw and loud. She is rejected by the entire elite ecosystem. Ajay sees Raj with Priya and understands that he has hired a prostitute. After some much-needed grooming (He makes Madhu give up smoking and changes her entire wardrobe. He teaches her how to use cutlery, and gives her a makeover), Madhu meets Priya--who will be left unaware that Madhu was a prostitute--and the three depart for Switzerland together to carry out their plan. Priya stays in the guest room and asks Raj to sleep with Madhu. But Raj sleeps on the couch. One night, in a heavy snowstorm, Priya makes sure that she gets in a church, giving the entire night to Raj and Madhu alone in the house. Raj finally has sex with Madhu. Soon Madhu is pregnant with Raj's child, and he happily tells his family that Priya is expecting. Ajay is in Switzerland as part of the business deal with Raj. Ajay starts sexually harassing Madhu until she's ready to leave, upset at the thought that Raj told his friend that she is a prostitute (he didn't). Although Priya finds out about Madhu's past, she still believes that Madhu should carry their child, and she begs her to stay. Finally, the partner assaults Madhu while (he thinks) she's home alone, but Raj returns in time to save her. Overwhelmed by Raj's kindness, Madhu falls in love with him. Raj's family suddenly arrives in Switzerland. While Priya reaches for pregnancy-simulating pillows, the family meet the heavily pregnant Madhu and Raj tells them that she's a friend who's staying with him and Priya while her husband is business-traveling. The whole family takes the same care of Madhu, as they do for Priya. Madhu is emotional at being treated as a part of such a loving and caring family. Raj's grandfather Kailashnath Malhotra (Amrish Puri) arranges a religious ceremony and tells Raj and Priya that they are going back to India; this also includes Madhu. The ceremony is very important, so Priya sends Madhu dressed as herself and her face fully covered. The emotion at the ceremony is too much for Madhu and she becomes conflicted about giving up her child. Priya finds Madhu's room empty and the money dumped on the bed, and pursues her to the train station, only to slap Madhu when she confesses that she loves Raj. By the time Raj gets there, Madhu has gone into premature labor. The doctor announces that only one--Madhu or her child--can be saved, and Priya asks him to save Madhu. However, both mother and baby survive and seem likely to thrive. Madhu gives the baby to Priya, who quickly settles into a hospital bed with "her" baby. The doctor tells the family that Madhu's child was stillborn. When Madhu is ready to leave, she promises Raj that she won't go back to prostitution. When he takes her to the airport, he realizes that she loved him and kisses her forehead. Madhu leaves happily, ready, and able to start fresh, as Raj and Priya start their own new lives as thankful and proud parents.

Raj believes that Mumbai is the city where he will meet the girl of his dreams and make good in his singing career. Raj stays with his friend Abdul (Neeraj Vora). Abdul says that Mumbai is a city of pretenses and asks Raj to get a bike. Raj buys a bike on EMI by giving postdated checks, even though he has no money in the bank. Abdul introduces Raj to a music producer Mishra (Asrani). Raj sings a song for Mishra, and he is super impressed. Mishra wants Raj to record his songs in a cassette, which will cost Rs 2 Lakhs. Abdul goes to his miser uncle (Shakti Kapoor), who runs a roadside cafe. The uncle runs a juice machine in his cafe and eats the remainder of the fruit after the juice is taken out, so that there is no wastage. Raj and Abdul sell a bus stop, by making it like a shop, to the uncle and defraud him of Rs 2 Lakhs, to fund Raj's cassette. Raj uses the money and records the cassette, but when they go back to the music company, they find that Mishra had died. Raj and Abdul meet Mishra's boss and the owner of the gramophone company Mahesh Hirwani (Satish Shah) at Mishra's funeral. But Mahesh throws them out. Soon, Abdul's uncle figures out that he has been defrauded (when the municipality arrives with a bulldozer and removes the bus station where uncle had set up a juice shop) and goes mad. Raj is distraught that his dream is now in tatters. Raj rescues a young woman whose car has an accident and has fallen on the train tracks. Raj risks his own life to pull the woman out of the car, before an oncoming train crushes it. The woman was in wedding attire of a bride. He rushes to the hospital & stays with her. It is assumed by the hospital staff that Raj is the woman's husband. The attending doctor recognizes the woman as Pooja, the daughter of his friend. Pooja Oberoi (Rani Mukerji), the daughter of a wealthy family, survives but falls into a coma. She can listen and understand everything, but she can't speak or move. Her family Bharat Oberoi (Rajeev Verma) Pooja's father, Biji (Kamini Kaushal) and Bharat's trusted employee Govardhan (Paresh Rawal), and son of Pooja's Bua Monty (Vinay Pathak) rushes to the hospital. Finding Raj there, assumes that he is Pooja's husband Romi, with whom she had eloped with to marry and whom they had never met. The family was against Pooja marrying Romi and this was the reason that Pooja was driving away in stress (to run away with Romi) and met with an accident. The family is told that pretend Romi risked his life on the train tracks to save Pooja, and they indebted to him. When Raj is alone with Pooja, he tells her that he is leaving as he is not Romi. Govardhan hears this and now knows the truth about Raju not being Romi but begs Raju to stay for the sake of the family. Since Pooja's father has a higher chance of a heart attack, Raj agrees to lie and says he is Romi. Mahesh also finds that Romi (Real Raju) is the son-in-law of Oberoi and his whole attitude changes towards the pretend Romi. From the beginning pretend Romi talks to Pooja and tells her the truth. He returns her jewels that he found in her bag in the car. Pretend Romi confides in Govardhan that he will reveal the truth once his cassette is recorded by Mahesh. Govardhan agrees as he knows that Raju/pretend Romi is a good man by heart. As the family gets to know the pretend Romi, Pooja's best friend & Govardhan's daughter, Jahnvi (Preity Zinta) starts spending a lot of time with him. Raju rejects all material comforts offered by the family and wants to be his own man. Jahnvi is impressed with pretend Romi with each passing day. They pray at a temple together for Pooja's speedy recovery. Jahnvi finds pretend Romi talking to Pooja and figures out the truth. Her respect for Raj grows as she realizes that Raj is only helping Pooja out of the goodness of his heart. Raj and Jahnvi both fall in love with each other, who is regarded as a second daughter by Pooja's family. Pooja's Dance master (Razak Khan) had seen Raju at Mishra's recording studio and finds him at the Oberoi house, as Romi. But he has short term memory loss and doesn't remember Raju. Raj records his album with Mahesh. Then Pooja revives from her coma and complicates matters by falling for Raj. Raj and Jahnvi continue their affair, while hiding it from the family. Pooja has also identified Raj as Romi, to keep up the charade and keep the family feelings intact. Govardhan knows about Raj and Jahnvi and agrees to keep it a secret. When all is going well, Abdul's uncle arrives and accuses Raju of cheating the entire family. But Pooja stands up for Raju and says that as Romi, he could have done incalculable damage to her and the family but did nothing of the sort. He is a good guy. The family accepts Raju. In a conversation, Pooja and Jahnvi both reveal that they both love Raj using signs (Hand up) but Jahnvi realizes that Pooja loves Raj resulting in her putting her hand down. Raj and Jahnvi put their relationship to an end. On the day of their engagement, Jahnvi unknowingly takes Pooja's cell phone (Her and Pooja's cellphone look the same). Knowing that Raj will never marry Pooja if she's there, she decides to leave. When Jahnvi cell's phone rings, Pooja picks it up and it ends up being Abdul who pleads Jahnvi to break this wedding and come back to Raj. Pooja then reveals to everyone about Raj and Jahnvi and Raj and Jahnvi are once reunited. Pooja chooses Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan). Rahul comes to marry Pooja.

While Dev breaks up with his fiance, Anita, and also becomes successful and rich; Priya realizes that it would only be wrong to break Raj, her fiance`s heart for he had helped her in her days of need. She writes a letter to Dev expressing her inability to come, but fortunately for her, Raj reads it instead. He persuades her to go to Dev. She leaves to go, but never reaches to meet Dev. Dev thinks she has rejected him, and goes back.. What is the reason really? Dev only finds out years later, when he goes to meet her to give her an anklet his, now late, grandmother, who adored her dearly, wanted her to have.

Hero (Salman Khan) works for a courier company owned by Khanna (Shakti Kapoor). He is spirited and humorous and is in love with Rani (Rani Mukerji), but she simply thinks of Hero as a good friend. Hero has none of those things and drives a moped. Rani gets a job as a teacher in a school. Enter Inspector Vishal (Arbaaz Khan), who works in the narcotics department and has the reputation of being unrelenting towards drug smugglers and peddlers. Since Vishal has eradicated the drug business in Goa, he is transferred to Mumbai. His new commanding officer is Senior Inspector AK Khan (Neeraj Vora). Vishal is given Constable Hatella (Johny Lever) to support him. Khan assigns a case to Vishal where a man was caught supplying drugs under the guise of being a courier person. Vishal suspects Khanna to be involved in a drug ring and confronts him at a golf course. Khanna denies all knowledge of the case and says that his courier person was using Khanna's company to run a side business in drugs. Hero stands up to Vishal and defends his boss. Hero is a fun-loving person and teases Vishal with his antics and gags. Hero knows that Vishal is following him and keeping an eye to see if Hero is also into supplying drugs on behalf of Khanna. Hero knows Vishal is looking for evidence against Khanna and is convinced that there is no evidence to be found. Hero tells Vishal that he will never do a task which gets him to lose his self-respect in his own eyes or in the eyes of his Chawl where he lives. But soon Hero learns the truth behind Khanna. Khanna assigns extra deliveries to Hero to help him achieve his dream of impressing Rani. Khanna had asked Hero to deliver a parcel, which gets damaged during an accident on the road. Hero finds that the parcel contained drugs. Hero still believes that someone else is using Khanna and goes to his warehouse to warn him. Meanwhile, Vishal was following Hero and also enters the warehouse. Khanna realizes that Hero had found out everything about his drugs business and believes that Hero can go to the police. In a confrontation at the city docks, Khanna kills Hero (Hero had come to warn Khanna, but when Khanna heard the police sirens, he suspected that Hero had told the police everything) and shoots Vishal in the heart. The police department decides to transplant Hero's heart into Vishal's body. Hero now appears as a ghost and can only be seen by Vishal, since his heart is in Vishal's body. Vishal realizes that Hero is telling the truth, when he is shown Hero's dead body by Hatella and Khan. Hero says that he will only rest in peace after Khanna is killed, thus avenging him. Rani was out of town for a few days. When she returns, her mother informs her of Hero's death and the fact that he was involved in drugs trafficking. Rani refuses to believe that Hero was involved in any illegal activities. Rani realizes that Hero's body is still lying unclaimed in the morgue. Rani goes to the morgue to claim Hero's body and to perform his last rites. Vishal sees Rani for the first time at Hero's cremation. Vishal has a tickling sensation in his heart when he sees Rani, presumably because it is Hero's heart, who used to love Rani. Vishal takes control of a hostage situation at the school where Rani is a teacher. Vishal successfully enters the school, kills the terrorists and rescues all the kids as well as Rani. Rani starts to see Vishal in a positive light. They begin to date. Vishal and Rani begin to fall in love with each other. Hero dislikes this and tries to foil Vishal's plans of getting close to Rani. Hero gets Vishal to dress funny and to perform silly antics which make Rani question whether Vishal is mature enough to be her partner. Rani is livid with Vishal and Vishal tries to explain that someone else has made his life hell but is not able to. But Hero and Vishal start getting closer and work together, becoming good friends after Vishal confronts Khanna's drug company. Hero tells Vishal that Khanna is trying to liquidate his drugs stock and exit the country in haste. Vishal raids Khanna's warehouse and captures a shipment of drugs. Khanna arranges to leave the country, but kidnaps Rani. Vishal and Hero go to save Rani and fight off Khanna's henchmen, but Vishal gets injured. Hero then enters Vishal's body and controls his fighting moves, helping him to beat the thugs. Rani witnesses this and realizes that only Hero would do those kinds of moves. She calls out Hero's name, though Vishal does not know that Hero is inside him. Rani then calls out to warn Vishal that a plane is moving towards him. Vishal and Hero stop the plane, which Khanna is in, and then confront him. As they are talking, Vishal becomes distracted, speaking to Hero, and Khanna takes the opportunity to shoot Vishal. Hero takes Vishal's hand and shoots Khanna with the gun. Khanna finally dies, and as Rani is comforting Vishal, he tells her that Hero is with them, and he loves Rani. Rani then tells Vishal to tell Hero that she loves Vishal. Khanna's ghost rises from his dead body and Hero hits him. Khanna is taken to Hell and Hero is taken to Heaven. Afterwards, Rani and Vishal have gotten married and are spending their wedding night and honeymoon in a house on the water. It is shown that Hero, now an angel, is happily watching over them from Heaven.

Dev Karan Singh (Aamir Khan), a Casanova and ambitious painter deep in debt, agrees to marry Anita (Deepti Bhatnagar), the daughter of Pratap Rai Singhania (Dalip Tahil), a rich tycoon. Priya (Manisha Koirala), a music teacher for children, is engaged to Raj (Anil Kapoor), whom she has agreed to marry because he had helped her when she was in need. Priya was 2 years old when her parents died in a car crash. Priya learned dance at her orphanage. Raj was a chief guest at her first function and offered to open up a dance academy where Priya could teach children. Later he asked for marriage. Priya and Dev meet on a cruise (Priya has won a contest and Dev is going to meet his grandma Suhana Devi (Sharmila Tagore), who lives on an island where only the cruise ship goes) (Priya undresses in Dev's cabin, thinking it is her cabin and Dev thinks Priya is a prostitute). Dev becomes fond of Priya. Dev is a fun-loving, flamboyant Casanova. He tries to get close to Priya. Initially, she doesn't get impressed by Dev (she even slaps him after he tries to get his hands on her during a serenade song. Dev offers to be friends with Priya after she tells him that she is engaged. But then Dev wants Priya to help with his other "conquests" on the ship, which she finds disgusting, but goes along as otherwise he won't leave her alone), but later falls in love with him (she gets jealous as Dev serenades other women on the ship and realizes that she is in love. Dev also stops the paparazzi who try to harass Priya by threatening to ruin her reputation by printing their pics being together). Dev takes Priya to meet his grandma. Priya and Suhana get along very well with each other. Suhana asks Priya to follow her heart. she is in tears when she leaves the island. Next day Bombay will come and the 2 will be separated. Dev admits his feelings for Priya. He begs for 6 months to work hard and prove his love for her. However, due to them already being engaged to other people, they agree to work everything out and meet in 6 months on Valentine's Day to get married. During the 6 months, Dev breaks off his engagement with Anita (Raj was there when Dev publicly broke off his engagement with Anita and applauds his commitment towards his love) and starts working hard (he even takes up menial jobs such as painting zebra crossings and ad posters on billboards). Driven by his love, he creates and auctions beautiful paintings, and becomes very successful along with the support of his friend Nattu (Neeraj Vora). On the other hand, Priya realizes that leaving Raj will be wrong (the headmistress of her orphanage tells Priya that if she leaves Raj, then going forward no decent man will ever marry a girl from the orphanage) and sadly writes a letter to Dev, explaining everything. When Raj gets the letter instead, he supports Priya and convinces her to go to Dev. Things take a bad turn when, on her way to meet him, Priya gets hit by a car and gets her legs amputated. Dev, who waited all night for Priya, believes she has rejected him, as he does not know of her accident. Priya forbids Raj from telling Dev the truth, not wanting to become a burden on him. Now, Priya spends her time running a musical academy for small kids. Though heartbroken, Dev continues his career and goes on to become a famous painter. One day, Priya attends his art exhibition and wishes to buy a painting of his, a sentimental picture of her speaking to his beloved grandmother, whom Dev had introduced to her during the cruise. Dev had said that he would not sell the painting as it was only for Priya, but upon hearing that the girl who wanted it understands the emotion behind the picture and is disabled, he tells the host of the exhibition to give the painting to her for free. One day, he meets Priya again with Raj at a theatre gathering but again Priya forbids Raj of telling the truth. He visits Priya to give her an anklet that his grandmother, who recently died, had wished for Priya to have when she became Dev's bride. Initially unaware of Priya's condition, Dev realizes the truth when he remembers giving the painting to a handicapped girl and finds the same painting in another room. The two embrace tearfully and he assures Priya that he will love her no matter what. Dev and Priya then married by Raj, where Dev carries Priya for the wedding rounds in the presence of Nattu and the children of the Musical academy.

After completing his studies in London, Shakti Thakur returns to his ancestral village in India, accompanied by his girlfriend, Anita, whom he is in love with and wants to marry, much to the disapproval of his family. Shakti harbors ambitions of opening a chain of fast-food restaurants, a vision that contrasts sharply with his family's traditional values and expectations. Back in the village, Shakti quickly becomes disillusioned by the stagnant atmosphere and the deep-rooted animosity that still plagues the townspeople. He informs his father, the zamindar Raja Thakur, that he intends to sell his share of the family's property to fund his business venture. Raja Thakur, who raised Shakti as a single parent after his mother died when Shakti was just a year old, pleads with his son to stay in the village and use his education for the betterment of the community. He emphasizes that "a man gets an education not to become a selfish being but to uplift his uneducated brothers and society." However, Shakti, frustrated by the ongoing feud between his father and his uncle, Zamindar Birju, and the behavior of his older brother, a perpetual drunk and an embarrassment to the family, decides to leave. The village is deeply affected by the longstanding feud between Raja Thakur and his younger brother Birju, a disabled man whose son, Bali Thakur, holds a deep grudge against Raja Thakur. This rivalry, fueled by Bali Thakur's desire to one-up his uncle, keeps the village divided and stifles its progress. While spending time in the village, Shakti engages in a game of sticks (a traditional Indian sport) with Bali Thakur's men, which he wins, further aggravating the tension between the two factions. During a visit to an old temple that had been closed off due to a longstanding dispute between Raja Thakur and Birju Thakur over who had rights to it, Shakti insists on entering, and his friend and servant Sukhiya breaks open the lock. Bali Thakur hears of this and incites a brutal riot between the two village factions. Raja Thakur, desperate to prevent further bloodshed, considers apologizing, but Shakti insists that he or Sukhiya should apologize instead. However, when Shakti looks for Sukhiya, he learns that Bali Thakur's men have cut off Sukhiya's hand as punishment for opening the temple, leading Raja Thakur's men to retaliate by burning down the homes of Bali Thakur's supporters. Frustrated by the lack of justice after Sukhiya's arm is cut off, Shakti confronts the head police officer about why they are not taking action. The officer explains that the villagers refuse to come forward as witnesses to such violent acts, making it difficult for the police to intervene. Despite this setback, the police officer becomes supportive of Shakti. To prevent the situation from escalating further, Shakti enlists the help of a government official friend to legally open the temple for all, with his father's reluctant approval. Offended by this move, Bali Thakur retaliates by hiring goons to destroy a dam that protects Raja Thakur's side of the village. A female villager notices the goons near the dam but does not think much of it at the time. The dam is subsequently destroyed with explosives, leading to a devastating flood that kills many villagers, including infants, leaving Shakti deeply grieved The same female villager, whose son died in the flood, angrily recognizes one of the goons in the village. She confronts him, leading Shakti to capture the goon and hand him over to the police. However, the goon, out of fear for his family's safety, refuses to implicate Bali Thakur in the crime. Later, Bali Thakur intimidates Narayan, a villager living in Raja Thakur's area, into closing off a portion of his land, making it difficult for the public to reach the main road. This action was done at the suggestion of Bali's lawyer, further complicating the ongoing conflict. In a village panchayat called to resolve the issue, accusations fly from both sides. Without any evidence, Bali Thakur accuses Raja Thakur of orchestrating attacks on his brother's family and insults him relentlessly. Disrespected and heartbroken, Raja Thakur returns home and dies from a heart attack that night. During the funeral, Birju Thakur grieves the death of his brother, while Bali Thakur reacts with cold indifference and annoyance. Shakti, now burdened with the role of the village head, reluctantly takes on his father's duties. After becoming the village head, Shakti makes his older brother swear to stop drinking, and his brother agrees. However, Bali Thakur's men, under the influence of Bali's lawyer, try to get Shakti's brother drunk again to manipulate him into signing away the village's property deed, but Shakti intervenes just in time to prevent the betrayal. As time passes, the villagers express concerns about the land that has been closed off, leading to longer travel times. Shakti successfully convinces Narayan to open the land by arranging a marriage between Narayan's daughter, Gehna, and a well-to-do man from the village and the police agree to provide protection to stop Bali men interfering. However, on the wedding day, the groom flees in fear of Bali Thakur. Distraught and feeling dishonored, Narayan believes his daughter will be stigmatized and live in constant fear. Shakti steps in and marries Gehna himself, despite still having feelings for Anita. Although their marriage begins awkwardly, Shakti and Gehna gradually move on. When Anita returns and learns the truth, she is left heartbroken. Although saddened by the turn of events, she understands the situation and leaves. Shakti, too, closes the chapter about his girlfriend and starts his new life with his wife Bali Thakur, enraged by the series of events-including the opening of the land, Shakti stopping him from tricking his older brother into signing over the family land, and the village panchayat's decision to honor Shakti's family with the right to host the village festival for reopening the temple-plots a final act of vengeance. Despite Shakti's kind offer to let Bali oversee the festival, Bali refuses, threatening to cut off Shakti's head, further escalating tensions. Bali then devises a plan to plant a bomb at the festival, determined to exact revenge. Bali's parents, Birju and his mother, become aware of his plot and, horrified, try to stop him. They attempt to call the police, but Bali, in his blind rage, imprisons them. Birju pleads with his son to end the violence, but his pleas fall on deaf ears. Bali's mother manages to escape and runs to the festival to warn Shakti of the bomb, but she arrives too late, and the bomb explodes, resulting in multiple deaths. In the aftermath of the explosion, a furious Shakti searches for Bali at his home. He finds a devastated and remorseful Birju, who does not know where Bali is hiding but Birju does not know, Shakti decides to help Birju and his innocent family by bringing them to his home, however both factions of the village, wanting revenge, go after Bali Thakur and his family. Shakti protects the innocent family and convinces the villagers to leave. Appreciative of Shakti's efforts to protect them, Birju Thakur finally ends his enmity towards him. Meanwhile, the police launch a manhunt for Bali in connection with the bombing. The next day, Shakti notices Bali's mother walking into the chicken coop area on his property and realizes that Bali is hiding there. Shakti follows her and confronts Bali, who is hiding inside. Bali's mother begs him to flee and escape the consequences of his actions, but Bali, consumed by his hatred for Shakti, refuses. When his mother tries to stop him from attacking Shakti, Bali spits in her face and kicks her in the stomach. Enraged by this, Shakti attacks and overpowers Bali, but ultimately spares his life, urging him to surrender to the police. However, Bali refuses to give up his vendetta and tries to attack Shakti again. He flees to an area filled with statues and idols, where the two engage in a final, intense battle with weapons. In the struggle, Shakti decapitates Bali with an axe, an act that leaves him devastated as he realizes that Bali has forced him to unleash his dark side. Although other villagers are willing to take the blame for Bali Thakur's murder, Shakti gives himself up to the police to end the cycle of violence once and for all. The film depicts the true meaning of education as "a tool to uplift uneducated people".

Nandu, a small-time thief, is assigned to smuggle an unknown packet for a petty amount. With the police pursuing him, Nandu has to elude them and deliver the packet on time. Notorious gangster asks a career thief by the name of Nandu to steal a package worth over one crore rupees for a fee, which Nandu does so. Things do not go as planned, when Nandu finds out that the package is worth more than twice the amount, he refuses to hand over the package to Pinky, until he raises his fees. An enraged Pinky instructs his men to locate Nandu, find the package and bring it back, and thereafter kill Nandu. While on the run from Pinky's gangsters, the police find out that Nandu was involved in this theft, and they launch a man-hunt.
