Vedi is a remake of the successful 2008 Telugu film Souryam. The film tells the story of a young man named Prabhakaran who goes to Kolkata in search of his long lost sister. The problems that he faces there and how he deals with them form the rest of the story.

Gaganam deals with three aspects of hijacking - the mentality of the flight passengers, the commandos handling of the situation and the government`s strategic reactions. Nagarjuna plays the role of a commando in the film.
