Read more →Fighting against the powers of corruption in this day and age is Sivaji (Rajnikanth) who leads a revolt against educational institutions, who sell seats to the highest bidder. Building his own educational institutions and offering free education, he becomes the target of corrupt officials, who not only try to destroy his credibility but also try to kill him. Sivaji is directed by S. Shankar.
Read more →A software engineer comes to India in order to serve the nation and invest in its welfare. A few corrupt officials and politicians try to stop him while he tries to do good for the poor. Held in a cell, Sivaji reflects how he came to be under police scrutiny and his subsequent arrest for a variety of economic offenses. He had returned to Chennai from the U.S. to live with his parents and maternal uncle, and had hoped to invest money in colleges and hospitals so that people who are not privileged can benefit - much to the chagrin of a sophisticated goon, Adisheshan, who threatens him, and asks him not to tread on his territory. Disregarding this and hoping to get his projects going, Sivaji runs into bureaucratic corruption and red-tape - so much so that he gives in and bribes an official Rs.4 Crores to complete his Rs.200 Crore project. An enraged Adisheshan has the local politician stop the work, but Sivaji bribes the latter Rs.50 Crores, after liquefying most of his assets. While he is busy wooing and attempting to marry Tamizhselvi/Vidyabharti Ramlingam, a new politician takes over, stops his project, and demands another Rs.50 Crores. Unable to come up with the money, Sivaji takes the matter to Court but loses, and is rendered penniless. To make matters even worse, Tamizhselvi refuses to marry him as astrologically they are not compatible. While passing a sentence for his nephew, Jagannath who have been accused of rape; Ghajraj Thakur is gun down by his brother-in-law. Who in his dying state incarcerate his brother-in-law, his sister, Manorama and Jagannath by outcasting them from the village for a few years. Ghajraj Thakur while deciding the fate of his nephew, Jagananth, is killed by his brother-in-law, Ranjit Singh, with Ghajraj's sister, Manorama looking on. Ghajraj's son, Dharamraj takes over from his dad, meting out fair and honest decisions amongst the townspeople. He arranges the marriage of his younger brother, Arjun, with Meena, the daughter of Ramsingh Thakur. A shadow is cast on the family when Arjun is accused of having illicit relationships with a school-teacher. This teacher eventually commits suicide and blames Arjun in her suicide note. Mendez is an honest and diligent Police Inspector, who lives a middle-class lifestyle with his wife, Cheryl, and a maidservant, Fatimabi. John bursts a gang that makes illicit liquor and holds them in a cell, bringing him into confrontation with their leader, Gajanand alias Gajju, who goes to threaten John, but is himself arrested and sentenced. When he is discharged he decides to avenge his humiliation by entrapping John and killing him. Cheryl gives birth to twin sons and passes away. A rich childless couple, Brijmohan and Girja Gupta adopt one of the twins and name him Janardhan, while the second is named Jani and lives with Fatimabi. Twenty five years later, Janardhan is an American-returned young man, in love with Madhu. On his birthday party he comes face to face with a man named Gopaldas, and his entire personality changes as he is taken over by the vengeful spirit of John. Subsequently, Gopaldas is killed, and Janardhan is arrested and tried in Court. Things seem to go in Janardhan's favor, when the wily Gajju brings out a new witness - none other than Jani - who is now masquerading as John. Jan Nissar Akhtar Khan works as a Forest Officer, and lives with his wife Zakhiya. One day while on duty he comes across some poachers who were cutting sandal wood trees illegally. When challenged, they retaliate, a struggle ensues, and one of them, Ram Gupta, gets killed. Khan is charged with killing him, tried in Court, and sentenced to several years in prison. His shocked and devastated wife kills herself. Years later, an angry and embittered Khan is released from prison. One day he comes across another young man, Vijay Singh, and finds out that he is struggling with taking vengeance against two men who had traumatized and killed some of his family members, and decides to help him. It is then Khan finds out that Gupta is still alive and decides to kill him, quite dramatically in the same courtroom where he was convicted for his murder. Watch how this action will effect Khan's future, and Vijay's plan for avenging his family.
