Two college students exchange their classes after the college management mixed their identical names by mistake. As a new principal of a college [of fairly bad reputation], Mr. Awasthi has to take steps which are stringent and yet, fruitful. He has a handful of problems: good students emigrating from the college, the bad ones disrupting the class and similar others. He studies in B.S.S. College of Arts & Science, is very studious, attains good marks in all subjects, except in sports. Fellow-collegian Raju Malhotra, born on February 21, 1985, lives a wealthy lifestyle along with his strict, disapproving dad, mom, and an unmarried sister, Kavita, in Mahim, Mumbai. Raju is the opposite of Rajan, does poorly in studies, but is a trouble-maker, a slacker but good in sports. When Diwan Chand Awasthi takes over the College as the new Principal he decides to separate the students into three groups, (A for ones who score 70% or more; B for those who score from 50% to 70%; and C for those who score under 50%). Raju clearly falls under 'C' but as he has given his heart to pretty Rashmi, who is an 'A' student, he decides to switch his photo Id. card with that of Rajan, who readily accepts this challenge as he is basically a nice guy. Raju wins over Rashmi's heart with Rajan's help, while Rajan slowly starts falling for 'C' student, Dinky Kapoor. Unfortunately there is a mix up between the ID cards of Rajan and Raju Malhotra; while Rajan end up in C class Raju end up in A class. Rajan attempt to bring this to Awasthi's attention but he is approach by Raju who convince him to let it be as it is as his beloved Awasthi's daughter, Rashmi is studying in A class. While in C class Rajan happen to captivate the attention of his classmate, Dinky Kapoor and both fall in love; unfortunately Awasthi gets to find out about the mix-up between the Malhotras and decides to arrange for an examination that will bring their true colors to light but this does not help prompting Awasthi to enroll Rajan into a dancing competition and Raju into a quiz competition. Claiming that the statue of Lord Gajendra (or Lord Ganesh) has been stolen by Manisha, he journeys to Bombay city, and visits his brother Rohit Kumar (Dalip Dhawan). Rohit and his dad, Thakur Veerendra Pratap Singh (Goga Kapoor) have not spoken to each other, ever since Rohit married Meera (Tanvi Azmi), who is of a different caste. Mohit meets with Manisha, and Manisha accidentally breaks Lord Gajendra's statue, leaving Mohit devastated and full of fear. She makes amends by buying him Lord Gajendra in real life - a baby elephant. Chaos reigns as Mohit attempts to hide the elephant in his brother's Versova apartment. In the meantime Manisha is expected to marry another man, with whom she was bethrothed in her childhood. They are in love with two lovely ladies Paro and Husna Bano. Balbir's younger brother Vivek is a student and has fallen in love with another lovely young lady Nisha. Nisha is the daughter of Ranjit, a rich tycoon who will do anything to take-over the land and property of the Ashram, demolish it, and begin construction on it. He enlists the help of corrupt Jail Minister Veni Prasad Bhandari and Thakur Shakti Singh. When Balbir and Anwar frustrate his attempts he has them thrown in jail, and has the Ashram demolished by a bomb, placed by an escaped jail inmate. Balbir and Anwar escape from jail and avenge the demolishment and death of the innocent including Babaji by killing Ranjit in broad daylight, for which they are arrested and get a life sentence. The jail they are in is in charge of Jailer Rana Pratap who is a strict disciplinarian, as well as a honest and incorruptible. All three learn to respect each other. Meanwhile Balbir's brother Vivek is framed for the murder of Nisha's mom Sumitradevi and he too gets a jail sentence. Balbir and Anwar jail escapades are frustrated by Rana Pratap. Bharti, a law student from a rich family, lives a comfortable life. However, her life changes when she learns from a classmate that her father makes his fortune from illegal and immoral activities. Bharti Bhandari lives a wealthy life-style with her mom, Sharda, and dad, Ashok. She studies in law college, where she is in love with fellow-collegian, Vijay Srivastav. Another collegian, Vicky, who is also smitten with Bharti, tells her that Ashok has made millions not by a legitimate business but by smuggling, kidnapping, selling children and young women. Bharti is shocked, she confronts her father, but he denies everything. Satisfied that her dad would not lie to her, she goes for a trip to Goa along with Vijay and that's where she actually sees her dad, who is supposed to be in London, U.K., smuggling some children abroad a yacht. Bharti and Vijay find out that Ashok has vital documents that will lead to India being taken over by a foreign power, and they decide to put a stop to this. Before they could do anything, Vijay is killed. When Bharti confronts her parents, resulting in arguments, which lead to a physical struggle, resulting in the death of Sharda, and Bharti shooting Ashok to death. Bharti takes the documents and runs away to distant Ooty in a bid to escape the murder charge and bring the documents to the appropriate authorities. But Ashok's associates find out and she becomes their target, she hires a bodyguard named Jamliya, who proves to be unreliable. Bharti will now find that her worst nightmare comes true when a couple claiming to be her mom and dad surface out of nowhere, backed up by none other than her very own paternal uncle, Kishore Bhandari. The motive to prove her insane. But the question remains what will Kishore and her new parents gain by proving her insanity or is this nothing but her mind playing tricks on her.

After his wife's murder in Bombay, Vishal seeks help from Dharmatma when police fail him. With two women's aid, he pursues the killers, leading to a confrontation about Dharmatma's son's role. Vishal and his new bride Jyoti shift to Bombay for work purposes and they are blissfully happy as they settle into the City of Dreams. But this idyll ends when Jyoti gets raped and murdered by four men: Prince, Bakya, Peter, and DD (Disco Dancer). Vishal is left helpless as none of the police or politicians are supporting him and he decides to accept help from Dharmatma, who is known to get justice for people. He gets a hint from his servant that one of the goons was Bakya. Vishal wants to kill Bakya, but his girlfriend Rita tries to save him by trying to kill Vishal, but Rita realizes the crime and decides to tell Vishal the truth. After Bakya's death, Prince, Peter, and DD attack Rita; just before she dies she reveals the truth of Jyoti's murder to her friend, whose name is also Jyoti. This Jyoti decides to meet Vishal and give him the names of the other killers. Vishal had once saved the same Jyoti from molesters, so he decides to go after the killers and goes to Dharmatma, telling him that meeting him didn't prove him of any help and further if he wants to help him, he should surrender him the last victim--his son Prince. —alex.mjacko@gmail.com

After the deaths of his wife Sheila and child Raja, Sagar takes to drinking as well as singing and dancing at weddings and special occasions. Intoxicated heavily after one such event, he comes across a young male child lying in a garbage can and takes him home. He finds out that the child has been deaf-mute since birth, and he decides to adopt him and name him Raja. Sagar's life is turned upside-down when wealthy businessman Kailash Nath files a police complaint alleging that Raja is his grandson, and Sagar might have abducted and killed Raja's mom. To prove his innocence the boy takes them to his house where there was a happy family. They take a sniffer dog to find out clues. After the passing of her parents, a young heiress suffers abuse at the hands of her relatives. Deepa lives a poor lifestyle along with her widowed father, and is in love with Dharma. Her father becomes ill, and must re-locate abroad for treatment. A rich male, Singh, offers to marry Deepa and only then will he get her dad the required treatment. Deepa agrees, and a heartbroken Dharma decides to remain single, takes to alcohol and becomes a goon. Deepa gives birth to a daughter, Barkha, but her husband passes away leaving her very wealthy. Her ex-convict brother-in-law, Bhanupratap, demands cash, and she gives him some, but he wants more, and upon being refused - kills her, moves in along with his wife, Shanti; son, Roshan; and daughter, Chandni; on the pretext of looking after Barkha. He hopes to take over the entire estate, but finds his plans foiled when he finds out that Deepa had left a Will which made it mandatory for the entire estate to be transferred to Barkha after she reaches the age of 21. He and his wife abuse Barkha, force her to give up her studies, and make her do all the household work while they continue to collect a princely allowance every month. Years later Barkha has grown up, and after being whipped by her uncle, manages to escape, meets and falls in love with a street-wise male, Suraj. Ironically, Bhanupratap hires Dharma, who locates and takes her back - leaving her no choice but to sign-over the entire estate to her uncle.

Union Leader Vijay Saxena wants his employer, Dhanraj, to treat his employees as shareholders, and for this purpose he presents him a cheque of 10 lakh rupees being their contribution, which Dhanraj accepts. Then the company shows huge losses, as a result the employees are unhappy and are certain that Dhanraj has manipulated the accounts to show a loss. To make matters worse, an employee loses his leg, and is hospitalized, unable to be employed there anymore. Dhanraj promises a compensation of Rs. 60,000 but the worker only ends up getting Rs.10,000. When Vijay confronts Dhanraj, he is told that Mohan, another employee, may have been responsible for stealing the balance Rs.50,000. Vijay threatens to kill Mohan, and shortly thereafter Mohan's dead body is found with multiple stab wounds, also killed are his wife and child. Vijay is caught red-handed, arrested by Police Inspector Jaikishan Verma, and tried in court. Jaikishan's wife, Sub-Inspector Jyoti, comes to his rescue in court, testifying that she was with him at the time the murders took place, thus shattering her married life with Jaikishan, as well as the life of her sister, Vidya, who is to be married to Vijay. Shyam is expected to marry Renu, the daughter of a business-friend, Kailashnath. Unknown to both the families, Shyam and Renu have already met, and fallen in love. When things start going wrong with the Srivastav's business dealings, they stand to lose everything, until and unless Shyam marries the only daughter, Menaka Rai, of the most wealthiest man in Bombay. Yashoda and her husband readily agree to this marriage, but Shyam refuses, as a result is asked to leave the house, and his parents will have nothing to do with him. Shyam and Renu begin their life together, but the unexpected happens, and a woman who is in love with Shyam, Meera, is killed and the police arrest Shyam for her death. He is produced in Court and is sentenced to die. But then the unexpected happens again, as Meera is still alive, and as a result Shyam is freed from prison. He goes to meet Renu and renew their love and get married, only to find out that Renu has got married to a Dr. Prakash, and will have nothing to do with him. A devastated Shyam must now decide to carry on with life and marry Meera, or go on a path of self-destruction.
