Arshinagar is an imaginary neighborhood, which is terrorized by two rival gangs belonging to the Khans & the Mitras. Both families are in the real estate business and are sworn enemies. Both have their eyes on Arshinagar slum, which they dream of developing into luxury apartments or shopping malls. To this end, both Mitra and Khan consult a corrupt politician called Deendayal who accepts bribes from both parties and promises both that he will have the slum evacuated. While the Khan and Mitra goons continue to engage in violent battles over acquiring the slum by fair means or foul, Bishwananath Mitra`s son Ronojoy and Sabir Khan`s daughter Zulekha happen to meet and fall in love at first sight. Aware of the consequences if their families come to know of their relationship, Rono and Julie conduct their love affair in secret.

The film is based on the life of a legendary Bengali theatre actress both on and off stage.

The film intends to get into precise details of the artist's life so as to expose the obstructions, understand the strength of creative aspirations, and to ablaze with the delightful journey of the artistic soul that unfortunately got cut short. However, this film is envisaged to be in coherence with the belief in the unending journey of the artist who still remains alive with the lively river and the living art.

In the course of time Bonku starts to feel that his dream of joint family is slowly but steadily crumbling. He fights with his son Agni. What will he do now to save his family? Will he succeed in holding on to his dream of a joint family? What will Agni do now? Will he listen to his father and stay back...or leave his family with his wife Payel ?

Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi is a fun and quirky slice-of-life comedy, set in Delhi. The film is about a no-holds barred friendship that turns crazy when competition seeps in.

The film`s title signifies the beginning of the end, in life and in relationships.

A social satire that questions prevalent gender relations. However, the script does not stop at questioning patriarchy only it also raises sharp questions about matriarchy as an alternative. This double angle allows the script to challenge the imbalance in power distribution in personal, familial and social relationships the very basis of gender injustice per se. The film operates with a comic approach even to depict the most unpalatable forms of injustice meted out on the basis of gender imbalances. Cutting across situations in the world with deep concern in the Heavens about the prevalent conditions on earth, the script refers everything from Bengali intellectualism to wrong notions of the panacea for all ills lying in power changing hands in the form of patriarchy being replaced by matriarchy. It is only towards the end that the script subtly veers into a more serious mode that stresses the need for mutual understanding among couples and highlights the need for individual women to take charge of their own lives as a step towards a greater social change. The narrative is never linear. Represented in a script written by, an ambitious but failed filmmaker, Aniruddha, who is also depicted to be a rather uncaring husband and father. He is too wrapped up in himself to care for what his wife Swagata is going through, or his childs justified expectations from him. In his script an oscillation between the World and the Heavens takes place. Human beings and gods and goddesses from the Hindu pantheon appear together to depict an imagined reality that would get people to double with laughter only to be soberly reminded in the end that much of the fantasy is rather real in our surroundings. The script within the film zigzags between gender injustice in this World and the concern in the Heavens about that. Real life issues of dowry demands, son preference, chaste and devoted wives with drinking, torturing husbands are captured through Aniruddhas script. The Dutta family with one failed lawyer as the master of the house, his wife, a married son with two daughters and the younger son in a relationship with a woman his father does not approve of provides the locale for these. The concern at the Heavens on the increasing rate of violence against women, very much a reality in the world we live in, allows the satire to reach incredible heights of absurd comicality by upturning the entire scenario where the drunkard, torturing husbands take on the roles of their enduring wives; men get sexually harassed and women rivals engage in all-to-known action sequences over a man they both fancy. The heavens are modeled on a corporate media house, subtly reflecting the role media can play in challenging issues that matter. Aniruddha is made to question his own position and perspective through his own script and more importantly by his wife Swagata as she takes her first decisive steps for herself underlining the need for individual change to precede social change. At the end, the film goes back to Aniruddhas script and through a discourse in the Heaven, takes the argument another step forward, beyond the `gender-equality` platform and tries to explain the notion of social equilibrium in general.

Namte Namte is more a gritty film on the life of middle class Bengalis faced with multiple issues of politics, muscle power and their everyday struggle.

Hemlock Society tells the unique story of a man who runs a workshop where lessons are given on how to commit suicide successfully. The school has on its roll professors who demonstrate fail-safe methods in committing suicide. The film takes a hard look at death and how life triumphs over death.

It is an evocative and poignant composition consisting of three separate stories set in three different cities in contemporary India. Every story revolves around love, life and loss. The first story enters straight into the heart of Farooq (Ankur Khanna) and Ira's (Soha Ali Khan) relationship in Mumbai. Farooq remains troubled by his own inability to let go of the memories of his dead parents in his ancestral which he continues to occupy and use as the disturbing muse for his own writing. So deeply ensconced in being haunted by his own past, Farooq appears incapable of fully living in the present, to the extent to which he proves powerless in responding to the possibility of sharing true love with Ira. In Kolkatta, the second vignette revolves around Dr. Siddharth Bose (Victor Banerjee), a wealthy Calcutta surgeon in his fifties. Dr. Bose's is stuck in the rut of a loveless, pitiful, and seemingly pointless marriage which he attempts to rattle by embarking on a quick, nervous and uncomfortable affair with a much younger woman. His lover, Lea (Keira Chaplin), is a German on her own journey to discover India, and to some extent herself. Their passionate yet tormented romance lays the groundwork for Dr. Bose and his wife (Roopa Ganguly) to repair their relationship while Dr. Bose simultaneously self-destructs his nascent, doomed affair. The third and final story occurs in the south Indian city of Kochi where the Nair family confronts the sudden loss of a nuclear family member who died serving in the Indian military. One of the Nair children, Naveen (Karthik Kumar), returns from Vienna to try and reconcile the harsh, lonely reality of his brother Keshi's (Shayan Munshi) death with his own inability to connect with his personal and familial history in India and his present predicament of having to feign a relationship with a woman to conceal his love for a man in Europe. —Swarup Basak

In the process of getting the cargo, he gets to see what the colony is like and, even though he is fully aware of the gripes of a former colony member and the limitations of it, comes to share some of the Utopia vision. 'Nishchaiy' is the story of two brothers, Ravi and Rohan Yadav separated due to unforeseen circumstances created by Ravi's employer Manohar Singh who suspects Ravi of having an affair with his wife Renuka. Ravi is sent to prison for a crime which he never committed and Rohan is adopted by Renuka's friend Yashoda. Years later, Ravi, a branded criminal is released from prison and Rohan, a successful lawyer now known as Vasu Gujral, clash with each other unaware of the fact that they are real brothers. Rohan, in the meantime, has been adopted by Lawyer Gujral (Saeed Jaffrey), and his wife Yashoda (Reema Lagoo). Rohan is now known as Vasudev Gujral, a lawyer by profession. Vasudev is in love with Payal Singh (Karisma Kapoor), who happens to be the daughter of Manohar Singh. Ravi finds out that Renuka is alive but her memory is diminished. Chowdry Sarang is an arrogant man who refuses to bow down before anyone. He has a sister Chand who falls in love with Shiva, who is from an agricultural family. Sarang kills Shiva and his family members. However, Shiva`s sister-in-law, Ganga (Rakhi Gulzar), stays alive and is pregnant that time. She vows to make Sarang bow down his head one day before her son. Also, her son and Sarang`s daughter would fall in love and her son would therefore become Sarang`s son-in-law and thus make him bow down his head. Whether or not Ganga fulfills her vow (Saugandh), forms the crux of the story.

Kamla Ki Maut is a 1989 Hindi drama film directed by Basu Chatterjee. The film set in Mumbai, deals with issue of love, pre-marital sex and relationships in modern India. Sudhakar Patel meets with young Anju and both fall in love with each other. Hoping to get married soon, both get intimate, resulting in a pregnancy. Both do not have the means to look after a child and decide to abort it. After the abortion Sudhakar disappears from Anju's life. Sudhakar relocates to another town, falls in love with Chameli, and promises to marry her when confronted by her irate father and townspeople, but subsequently disappears from her life also. Sudhakar then has an affair with Laxmi, who is the wife of his friend, Prakash, and gets a sound beating from Prakash when he finds him half-naked in his house. Shortly thereafter Sudhakar marries Nirmala, a young woman who wanted to marry her tutor. Years later, Sudhakar is still married to Nirmala, he now has two daughters, Geeta and Charu, who are of marriageable age and having affairs with Ajit and Deepak respectively. Their next door neighbor is Kamla Thakur who is to get married to Bhaskar soon, but kills herself by throwing herself from the 5th floor of her apartment building.
