In 2000, Hamza Ali Mazari (Ranveer Singh), then known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, leaves his hometown in Pathankot to undergo military training. During his absence, a violent land dispute involving local MLA Sukhwinder Singh (Aashish Duggal) leads to attacks on his family: his father is hanged and his elder sister Harleen (Hitika Bali) sexually assaulted and murdered, and younger sister Jasleen (Pari Pandher) abducted. Upon returning with weapons purchased from UP based mafia don and political leader Atif Ahmed (Salim Siddiqui), Jaskirat, with the help of his friend Gurbaaz (Udaybir Sandhu), brutally murders Sukhwinder and the rest of his gang, and rescues Jasleen. Jaskirat was a trained army soldier by then and he uses that training to make sure that no male in Sukhwinder's family survives. He is subsequently arrested, tried, and sentenced to death. Before his incarceration, he entrusts Jasleen's future to Gurbaaz. In 2002, Jaskirat is abducted during a prison transfer and brought before intelligence officials Ajay Sanyal (R. Madhavan) Director of IB, and Sushant Bansal (Manav Gohil) Deputy Director of IB. Sanyal says that he can get Jaskirat off the death row and the Government will take care of his family, but he asks for Jaskirat's life in exchange. Jaskirat will have to do as told. Jaskirat says that his father and grandfather both served in the army, but his patriotism died when his family was disowned by the same system that he had vowed to protect. Sanyal reminds Jaskirat that as men it is their duty to fight for their family. He promises a dark life, but a meaningful one. Sanyal says that only he has the outlet for the rage that is still inside Jaskirat. By 2004, he is recruited into a covert program to infiltrate Pakistani terror networks, given the identity of Hamza Ali Mazari, and deployed to Lyari via Kabul, where he severs ties with his past and operates under handler Mohammed Aalam (Gaurav Gera) a juice shop owner in Lyari. Sanyal tells Jaskirat to be vigilant and patient. After entering Kabul, Jaskirat burns the only photo of his family he had in his possession. By 2009, following the death of Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna) in Lyari, Hamza manipulates local factions to ignite a conflict between the Baloch and Pathan gangs. Hamza tells Uzair that it was Arshad Pappu who informed Aslam about Rehman's location as he wanted to rule Lyari. This results in the death of Pathan gang leader Arshad Pappu (Ashwin Dhar) and the arrest of Rehman's Baloch cousin brother Uzair Baloch (Danish Pandor), consolidating Hamza's influence in Karachi while advancing his mission. Jameel played a dubious role in this as on one hand he showed Arshad that he will protect him, on the other hand he instructs SP Aslam to barricade Lyari and to not allow any Pathan to pass through. Jameel then directs Arshad to his milk factory as a safe place to hide, but Hamza was already there waiting for him. Uzair tortures Arshad and then kills him in broad daylight in full public view. Aquib Ali Zarwari (Sanjay Mehandiratta), President of Pakistan and leader of the PAP was under a lot of pressure due to the violence in Lyari and Major Iqbal suggests that they arrest Uzair since he was recorded while killing Arshad. Hamza helps Uzair escape to Dubai and tells Aslam exactly when Uzair will be landing so he can be arrested. Uzair is brought to Pakistan and imprisoned for 12 years. SP Aslam tells Major Iqbal that he killed Rehman as he wanted revenge for Dawood. Aslam says that Rehman's brother-in-law Bilal had commercial property in Lyari of 500 Crores, which was usurped by Dawood's brother Noora. Rehman asked Dawood to instruct Noora to vacate the land, but Dawood refused to intervene. In response, Rehman had Noora abducted and killed by the BUF. As the leader of Lyari, Hamza decides to back the Muslim Movement Party headed by Nawaz Shafiq (Mashhoor Amrohi) to fight the elections against PAP. Jameel also changes his allegiance from PAP to MMP. Hamza also repairs his relations with the BUF leader Shirani (Bimal Oberoi) who also promises his support to Hamza. Hamza's wife Yalina gives birth to their first son and with MMP coming to power, Hamza becomes the undisputed King of Lyari and the Baadshah of Karachi. In 2014, Narendar Damodardas Modi takes oath as the Prime Minister of India. This is a major blow to Major Iqbal who had tried to influence the elections to get the Congress Party to power. Hamza's actions drew him into the inner circle of "Bade Sahab" Dawood Ibrahim (Danish Iqbal), who tasks him with facilitating narcotics operations to fund military operations. Dawood wanted Iqbal to ensure that the UP elections went their way and parties sympathetic to the Muslim cause remained in power. Dawood orders Rs 70,000 Crores in fake Indian currency to be printed and pushed into UP to control the elections. Dawood and Iqbal reveal that ISI supports all anti-India forces including Punjab rebels, Kashmiri militants, Naxals and so on. Iqbal says that keeping India weak makes Pakistan strong. Pakistan buys cheap drugs from Karachi and sells them at a premium in India and uses the profits to buy American and Russian arms to arm the various anti-national outfits in India. A group of Punjabi rebels is brought in to assist, including Gurbaaz, unknown to Hamza. Gurbaaz is the leader of the group who buys Rs 12 Crores worth of drugs and plans to sell it in India for Rs 150 Crores. During a party at Hamza's house, an intoxicated Gurbaaz confronts him and threatens to reveal his identity to the others, leading to a fight that ends with Gurbaaz dead. Aalam arrives to cover-up the incident. When he is discovered, Hamza kills him in front of the guests. The ISI tells Aslam that they suspect Hamza as there was no need to kill Aalam and he could have been a source of information. Yalina overhears this. Yalina (Sara Arjun) Hamza's wife, uncovers Hamza's true identity when she finds his secret diary in which he had written everything from the very beginning. Yalina confronts him but agrees to remain silent for the sake of their son, Zayan, and understanding his reasons. Hamza says that Pakistan had conducted numerous terrorist attacks against India and cost the lives of numerous innocents. Hamza was only trying to get them justice. Yalina tells Hamza that Aslam suspects him. As suspicion grows, SP Chaudhary Aslam (Sanjay Dutt) Lyari Task Force (LTF), Sindh Police, begins investigating Hamza but is killed in a suicide attack orchestrated by Hamza through the Balochistan United Force (BUF). At a secret meeting in Dubai, Sanyal grants Hamza autonomy to dismantle the remaining terror network and initiate Operation Green Leaf, leading him to assassinate several key operatives, including a panicked terror financier and fake Indian currency maker Javed Khanani (Ankit Sagar), whose fake currency became useless due to demonetization, and IC 814 hijacker Zahoor Mistry (Vivek Sinha), whose death is observed by Sanyal on a video call. Atif Ahmed is arrested in India, to cut the terror link from Pakistan to Nepal to India. Dawood plans an attack on India after the judgment on Ayodhya Ram Jamnbhoomi case. Hamza on was sitting in the meeting when Iqbal says that till Atif Ahmed is alive, their work in India will continue uninterrupted. Simultaneously, while going for a medical check, an imprisoned Atif Ahmed is assassinated by unknown gunmen, shocking Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal) from ISI and many others. Meanwhile, Aslam's second-in-command Omar (Aditya Uppal) uncovers Hamza's true identity by extorting Yalina after holding Zayan at gunpoint and informs Major Iqbal. Hamza travels to Iqbal's Madrassa in Muridke to deliver weapons. During their meeting, Iqbal confronts Hamza as an Indian spy and stabs him, but a bomb planted by Hamza and the BUF in the weapons crates kills multiple militants. A firefight ensues between Iqbal's Mujahideen and the BUF (disguised as Pakistan Rangers). Hamza destroys Iqbal's transport with an RPG, has the BUF level the Madrassa, and pursues Iqbal to a shipping yard, where they fight until Hamza kills Iqbal in a kerosene tanker explosion. After a final phone call with Yalina, Hamza is captured and tortured by Omar, until Sanyal coerces his release by blackmailing the head of Pakistani intelligence, Shamshad Hassan (Raj Zutshi), with evidence of his dealings with Israeli intelligence. Hamza suggests Uzair to be used as a scapegoat and framed as India's spy. Hamza is picked up by his father-in-law Jameel Jamali (Rakesh Bedi) a senior politician of the Pakistani Awami Party (PAP) and Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, who reveals himself as a longtime Indian asset who had been slowly poisoning Dawood while embedded in his network. Having completed his mission, Hamza abandons his alias, being forced to leave Yalina and their son behind for the sake of their well-being and returns to India as Jaskirat Singh Rangi. Though commended for his service, Jaskirat disappears before his formal debriefing and returns to his childhood home, which he wistfully gazes from afar. Flashbacks depict Jaskirat's training with the Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW). Shamshad orders Omar into a mental asylum after he threatens to reveal Shamshad's release of Hamza to the National Assembly.

Sharda refuses to answer any questions regarding Roshni's father. After Sharda learns she has cancer, she asks her family friend Ahuja (Anang Desai) to take Roshni to Mumbai, so that she learns to live without her and be independent. Roshni is introduced to Rahul Malhotra (Rahul Roy), and they share a mutual attraction. Rahul is a businessman and trades in export / import items. He frequently travels overseas as well. When Rahul learns that she is an aspiring singer, he assists in her career. Rahul gets her an audition with HMV, and as a result her first song is also recorded. Jaggu has been following Roshni's career for 2 years now. Jaggu earns good money by selling Roshni's concert tickets in black and follows her all over the country. Sometimes, he even gets on stage to garland her with money. Jaggu is in love with Roshni, but she rejects him. Roshni tells Jaggu that she has a certain lifestyle, and he is only a petty thief. Jaggu promises to earn enough money to be able to afford all the luxuries that Roshni wants in life. Jaggu robs a bank and buys everything on the list (a mansion, an expensive car, lots of dresses and jewelry and so on). Jaggu is eventually arrested for his crimes by Inspector (Mushtaq Khan). But eventually, Jaggu escapes custody. Roshni's mother reveals on her deathbed that Roshni's father Prakash is alive. Prakash had come from Mauritius to do business in India. They met a club and soon got married. Prakash went to Delhi for some official work. He was forced to abandon his family over a government level criminal accusation. Prakash tried to contact Sharda but Roshni's grandmother's reluctance to allow him back home, thwarted all his attempts. She tells Roshni that that she is free to go find her father. Roshni decides to start in Mauritius. Since Rahul is also in Mauritius, Ahuja asks him to pick Roshni from the airport. Since things are too hot for Jaggu in Bombay, he travels to Hong Kong to tide some time. Jaggu is employed by Prakash, who now lives in Hong Kong. In Mauritius, Rahul and Roshni meet Prakash's brother (Mushtaq Khan), who hates Prakash. He says that Prakash's actions in India ruined the families reputation in Mauritus. When Roshni insists, he reveals that Prakash is in Hong Kong. Roshni calls the number in Hong Kong, but Prakash refuses to accept her as his daughter, even though he remembers Sharda. Roshni refuses to give up and decides to go to Hong Kong. Before the flight, Rahul hides 3 drug packets in Roshni's luggage, and his own ticket is booked in a different name. Rahul and Roshni go to Hong Kong to look for her father, Roshni is arrested for trafficking cocaine, and Rahul disappears. Inspector Phillip (Tom Alter) picks Roshni up from the baggage belt after her luggage is marked by sniffer dogs for drugs. Roshni is quickly found guilty and remanded to a prison where inmates are kept barefoot and in squalid conditions. The warden (Bob Christo) sexually abuses the female inmates assisted by female cop (Kunika). Roshni befriends fellow inmate Angela (Soni Razdan), who is on death row for drugs smuggling. Angela's brother Neel is in the male prison block. Angela bribes the guards to meet him from time to time. Jaggu sees Roshni's picture in the papers and Roshni asks for Jaggu's help in finding her father Prakash. Jaggu tells Prakash that her own daughter is in jail in Hong Kong. Prakash goes to visit Roshni in jail as her attorney. Prakash is really emotional, but doesn't divulge that he is her father. He tells Roshni to accept that she brought the drugs for personal use, and she would go to jail for a few years. As a smuggler, she will be put to death. Roshni refuses to accept a crime that she did not commit. Prakash gets Rahul's photo from a camera in Roshni's luggage. Inspector Phillip wants a bribe of $50,000 to arrest Rahul. Jaggu enters a street fight contest to earn the money to pay off Phillip. Phillip changes the drugs to talcum powder, and Prakash manages to get bail for Roshni at the next court hearing. Roshni starts loving Jaggu. However, a Hong Kong Officer Lee Ming suspects Phillip of foul play and starts investigating the case. Phillip is arrested for bribery and the court convicts Roshni of drug smuggling and sentences her to death. Back in prison, Angela is shot to death as per her sentence, along with her brother. The only way out now is for Roshni to escape prison. Prakash finds that 7 prisoners escaped in WW II from the prison where Roshni has been kept, by using a tunnel network underneath the jail. Jaggu gets arrested for vandalism and is sent to prison. He runs afoul of the jailer and the female cop, themselves lovers, who beat him in front of Roshni. Jaggu ends up in the medical ward. Prakash works to help them escape by arranging a fake passport for Roshni. Roshni bribes the female guard to let her visit Jaggu, but the guard takes the money and refuses to let Roshni go to Jaggu. A fight ensues between Roshni and the female guard, in which the latter is killed. The warden intervenes when Roshni reaches Jaggu and they try to escape the jail via the drain system under the prison. Jaggu attacks and kills the warden. They escape the jail and return to India with the help of tickets and passports arranged by Prakash. At the Hong Kong airport, Prakash is questioned by the police, and Roshni learns that he is her father, and that he had fled the country years earlier when he had been wrongfully accused of treason. Later at Rahul's house, Rahul admits that he had been dealing with drugs that resulted in Roshni's arrest. She slaps him for deceiving her and gets him arrested. With Prakash's blessings, Roshni and Jaggu get married.
