Arya, the son of an influential man in the city, falls in love with Geetha, an innocent girl from a small town. He thinks his life is set but fate has more than a little trouble in store for him.

Shruti [child artiste Hansika Motwani] is the 10-year-old daughter of Shrikant [Sanjay Kapoor] and Shraddha [Raveena Tandon]. She travels to her school by the local train every morning. One day, she accidentally gets locked up in her school and by the time she catches a train to go home, it is already midnight. Three young drug addicts also board the train and seeing her alone, they rape her in front of three passengers who seem afraid and helpless to come to her aid. Shruti is brought in an unconscious state to the hospital by the police. She breathes her last in front of her aggrieved parents. The city is shocked by this untoward incident. The case is handed over to Kripa Shankar Thakur [Manoj Bajpai], an upright and honest cop from the Crime Branch. While rehearsing for a dance play; Shruti accidentally gets locked in the school and a while later is rescued by the school's watchman who then drop her off at the Bandra rail-way station where she attempt to telephone her mother but gets busy tone. She then boards a Borivali bound local train in the ladies compartment but because of the late hour the train is almost deserted with only an elderly male, a woman and a young girl. Three young drug addicts then enter by locking the windows and door, they gang rape her. The three witnesses are unable to do anything due to the fear of losing their lives. After completing the heinous act; the assailants leave the train at Malad Railway station. When the train reaches Borivali; the male in the compartment makes an anonymous call to the police who arrive on the scene as well as arrange for the girl to be taken to the nearest hospital where she breath her last. When the news is revealed in the media, there is an uproar in Mumbai and the suburbs. Normally such matters are handled by the Railway Police, but taking account the publicity generated by this crime, the Mumbai Crime Branch and Inspector Krupa Shankar Thakur decide to get involved. A couple visits the husband's family in India and finds itself in the middle of a fratricidal battle. Settled in Canada, of Indian origin, Nandini and Shekhar live a fairly harmoniously and busy lifestyle with their young child. While Nandini has family in Canada, Shekhar has no one to call his own. Then one day there is breaking news of violence in India, and that's when Shekhar asks Nandini to accompany him to India as he fears that his parents may have been in killed. Out of this concern, she gets into a couple of very intense confrontations with her father-in-law leading to a very intense situation within the family. Unfortunately, her father-in-law is tricked by his politician associate into sending Shekhar to meet the collector, and brutally murdered by the enemy family. Nandini is heart-broken and wants to leave for Canada immediately. But, her father-in-law now insists on keeping her son with him. She dislikes this decision, but to no avail, as he is strong and extremely stubborn, so, she tries to escapes on her own. After two failures, she is locked up in an outhouse. What will happen to her? Things start to change for the worst for Nirmal's dad and Diwanji when Raja is introduced to the family, and with the help of Thappa establishes his identity and fools everyone.
