Shakuntala Barua

Mr Jaladhar Sen and his wife are both retired and living with their son, daughter in law and granddaughter. However, the old couple`s lives are in total control of the son, who doesn`t allow them much freedom. Things come to a head when the son celebrates his own ten year anniversary lavishly but is reluctant to do the same for his parents 45th year together. A dancer from Kolkata travels to Vizak for giving a stage performance and befriends a fashion designer. Later, when the fashion designer's showstopper fails to make it to his event, he asks the dancer to become his showstopper. The dancer helps him and eventually falls in love with him. The story is of Doctor Kingshuk Guha a gynaecologist who is out negotiating the purchase of a luxury apartment for himself and his wife Rammani and is unable to attend to an emergency because of a traffic jam. When his women patient Kavita dies after developing complications following a caesarean delivery, her more militant family members hold the doctor responsible and smash up the nursing home. Rammani's struggle with her conscience is depicted through her conversations with the dead woman whom she has seen lying abandoned on an operating table. The doctor hires a defence lawyer but is persuaded by pragmatic but amoral medical colleagues to settle out of court. 'Mone Mone' is the story of Shakuntala, a girl of self-respect. Her father dies an untimely death leaving her with the responsibilities of her mother and two young brothers. She paints and works hard to run their expenses but is not ready to bow down or beg before anyone. They go to their maternal aunt Sudha's house for her daughter's wedding. Kuntala is angry with Sudha for not keeping in touch with them and answering her letters. Later it is revealed that Sudha's marital family had kept the letters. Soumitra is an eligible bachelor who falls in love with Kuntala. But Kuntala avoids him. He wins over her faith by promising to share her responsibilities. When Sudha finds out about this she gets Kuntala married to Soumitra.
