Viren and Aditi are forced to meet each other by their parents in order to arrange their marriage. However, the two refuse for the marriage, but secretly continue to be friends. In the course of time, both of them are engaged to different people, which is when they realize that the two have fallen for each other.

Amongst the communal riots that erupt in the city, Tara shelters a wayward Sakina from a crazed mob. The two eventually get married and have a son. However, things change when Sakina`s father forces her to stay in Pakistan, forget about her family and start a new life. Tara crosses the border into Pakistan to find Sakina.

The story is about young vikram saigal (arjun rampal), a brilliant law student. Despite the fact that he secured his degree with distinction, he refused to hold the brief, because he felt convinced that the ideals he stood for, clashed irreconcilably with those being practiced by the establishment. He knew he couldn't ever hope to change the order of the establishment but he certainly could aim at and strive for the founding of an institution as distinct from the vicious mainstream where corruption was the order of the day. And it was as if he had given a promise to himself that he wouldn't wear the gown and enter the portals of justice, until he achieved what he aimed for, yet, the moment came where he was obliged to don the gown and fight a case, his first and last, and strangely enough, in defense of himself.

A struggling police officer's life changes when he mysteriously receives promotions and success at work. After his son's kidnapping, he discovers his doppelganger may be behind everything. Gopinath lives a struggling life with his son, Tinku, wife, Chanda and mother. He works in the police force and is a long-time employee but has never received an award or granted promotion since he does not discharged his duty properly. Kishan is often mistaken for Gopinath and very often impersonates him. Gopinath's duties take him to question Choudhury (Suresh Oberoi), who he knows is his biological father. His mom, Geeta (Aruna Irani) also knows of this, but prefer to keep this secret to themselves. Choudhury and his henchmen, including Sawant (Mohan Joshi), are irritated by Gopinath's interference in their criminal activities, and abduct Tinku, thinking that they have kidnapped Gopinath's son. Out of guilt, he sets out to make amends by sending the criminal back to the man's village in his place. Bheema then decides to move out of town. Some villagers and a police officer (Anupam Kher) persuade Bheema to return, and he agrees. On his return, Bheema's nephew Kanhaiya (Baby Guddu) is abducted by Thakur and his men, and he will only be returned after Bheema obtains signatures/thumb prints from everyone in the community, thereby turning over their properties to Thakur's name. Holding a first degree in law; Avinash Kapoor is employed as a lecturer in a college. When he attempt to punish some students for bending the rules; they retaliate by abducting his blind sister, Geeta. Avinash locates them and beat them up; only to learn that he is fired from his job and sentenced to 6 days in jail for contempt of court; after completing his sentence he is unable to locate any job which forces him to re-locate to Bombay; which still does not help. Later on he is forced to change his mind when he needs money to pay for his mother's medical surgery which Agnihotri provides. After this there is no looking back for Avinash as he continue to climb the ladder working for Agnihotri; Avinash meets and fall in love with a cabaret dancer, Sonia. But Agnihotri's younger brother, Dilip is also fascinated by Sonia; who abducts her and attempt to sexually molest her which forces her to jump to her death from a multi-storied building. Bearing witness to this Avinash loses his cool, locates Dilip and kill him. Avinash is then arrested by the police and his case is called up in the court. When he returns he finds that he is no longer employed. He does get employment as a Lawyer for a firm, only to be sacked the next day when they find out he has been in jail. The Kapoors move to Bombay, where his mother has a heart attack and Avinash compromises on all his good values and goes to work for a smuggle and drug dealer, Agnihotri, so as to make payments for his mom's treatment. He falls in love with a dancer named Sonia, not knowing that Agnihotri's brother, Dilip, is also interested in her. Sonia and Avinash get intimate, Sonia gets pregnant, and she moves in with Avinash and his family. Dilip is not satisfied and wants Sonia for himself, so he abducts and molests her leading to her death. An enraged Avinash hunts down Dilip and kills him, thus making himself a target by both the police and the very underworld that he was a part of. Avinash is arrested and held in a cell. It is at this point he decides to spill the beans on Agnihotri and his illicit trades, on the condition that the police offer protection to his sister and mom, which they agree to. All is set for Avinash's court testimony, when he receives a note that his mom and sister have been abducted and he must confess to the killings of both Sonia and Dilip.
