Luv Ranjan`s De De Pyaar De is a contemporary rom-com with a quirky take on urban relationships. The film starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh is directed by the renowned Hindi film editor, Akiv Ali.

Major Ajit is sent to nab ex-Army officer Colonel Sodhi, who is hiding in the guise of Devraj Hathoda. Major Balbir Singh Sodhi (Amitabh Bachchan) attempts to kill Indian Home Minister Veer Bhadra Singh (Danny Denzongpa) but is unsuccessful. He has been identified, and the Army is on the lookout for him to court-martial him. They suspect that he has assumed a new identity, that of Devraj Hathoda alias Dadabhai. Major Ajit Arya (Nana Patekar) is assigned the task to investigate this, and he successfully manages to lure Balbir into admitting his true identity. Then Balbir clarifies to Ajit what the motive was behind his assassination attempts on the Home Minister, and Ajit decides to join forces with Balbir to expose the Home Minister. Then terrorist Ghafoor Changezi announces that no worshipper will be permitted to visit the Holy Shrine of Mata Sheravali during the Navratri Fest, and the Home Minister accepts the challenge, to make himself even more popular. A woman comes to a big city to attend training and ends up falling in love with a man, whose family approves of her. But just before their marriage, her parents forcibly take her away, to get her married to someone else. Raju and Mahalaxmi meet at a marriage ceremony and both are attracted to each other. They soon fall deeply in love with each other, and decide to inform their respective parents of their plan to get married. Raju's family welcomes Mahalaxmi, and approve of her. Just shortly after their approval, Mahalaxmi's parents interrupt the proceedings and forcibly take Mahalaxmi with them, to get married to someone. The film is set in British India. The story is about a young doctor, Govardhan (Mohanlal), who is wrongly accused of bombing a train carrying 55 people including British officials, and thus jailed in a cellular jail at Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands by the British. The film shows sufferings of hundreds of Indian prisoners in the cellular jail, including leading participants of the freedom movement. The extremely inhuman conditions faced by the prisoners in the jail is accurately depicted in the film. Alex Draper plays the sadistic jailor David Berry, who is of Irish descent, while John Kolvenbach plays the kind-hearted English doctor, Len Hutton. Annu Kapoor plays the role of Veer Savarkar who is incarcerated there and tries his best to keep the spirit of the prisoners going through unbelievable torture. Tabu plays Mohanlal's lover who keeps waiting forever for him to come back.
